Passive Telecaster Single-coil Pickup Set with Neck and Bridge Pickups

Fender's Original Vintage Tele single-coil pickup set is perfect for the player who desires the authentic sound of the first Telecasters to roll off the line. The heart and soul of these pickups is the Alnico 3 magnets that deliver a sweet midrange and tight bass that never gets overbearing. The enamel-coated wire used for winding the pickups and the cloth output wire are period correct appointments. And the tin-plated copper base plate of the bridge pickup is what gives the Original Vintage Tele pickups the unmistakable Tele spank that Sweetwater pickers swear by. The Fender Original Vintage Tele pickups deliver a great balance of clarity, twang, and muscle.

Great clarity with lower output.

By Joseph from Illinois
Music Background: Casual player tone chaser vintage enthusiast.

I upgraded my Mexican telecaster player series with these pick ups. I mainly play out of a tubeamp, and I noticed a large difference in playability through open chords on the neck and clarity in leads on the bridge. The one thing I will note is it made me want to upgrade the wiring in the rest of the guitar because the wires on the pick ups are such high-quality compared to what was in there. Well worth the spend.

Great Pickups...Great Service

By Gary from New jersey

First Sweetwater is amazing. My Sales Engineer
Greig was awesome from the time I ordered to a follow up call afterwards to be sure I didn't have any issues or problems he was outstanding.
As for the Pickups they sound great and were exactly what I was looking for. They were easy to install in my
Fender Squire Affinity Telecaster with minimal modifications
(they are slightly larger than originals so pickup holes needed to be inlarged in pick guard and bridge) very simple fix and was expected. I highly recommend these Pickups and Sweetwater.

American Original 50s

By Carmen C.
Music Background: Blues, Rock, Jazz

These pickups are in my American original telecaster and they sound absolutely fantastic. It's got that old school Telly twang with a British vibe. This pickups are proof that you don't have to spend over $200 for the right pickups.

coolest set for old school tele

By Nuno
Music Background: working blues player

well.. I'm mainly a strat guy, but this set on a modded classic series 50's from 2009 (I bought to scratch my tele itch) might just change my priorities.
yup, it's that good!
sometime ago I had a chance to buy this tele, I was in the mindset of upgrading this one right from the beginning, frets and all.
when it come to pickups, I looked for the fender offerings, cause I'm already a believer, thanks to the pure vintage 59 strat set I use on my strats..so, this was a no brainer.- don't believe too much on the marketing hype about pickups, check the specs for wire type, magnet and how hot are they, and trust your ears. Fender must know a thing or two about pickup construction right?
there's a quality point after which there's not much else to them.
Two different guitars with the same pickups will produce different results, so it just works on a guitar or it doesn't, and that's it, specially on the low output side.

Nothing like the real thing

By Kenny F. from New Braunfels, Texas
Music Background: Guitar player/luthier hobbyist, player for 53 years

I had the pleasure of working on a 1986 usa fender telecaster. It had been treated extremely bad for several years to the point of corrosion in the wiring and rust on the bridge assembly. The good folks at SweetWater were able to help me get the correct time period usa made pickups and the time period correct bridge assembly. With a lot of elbow grease, some TLC, this guitar went from disaster to telecaster again! I highly recomend Sweetwater for all of your music needs. They are great! Give them a try if you haven't yet. You won't be disappointed!

Built a Guitar to Suit These

By David K. from Arlington Heights, IL
Music Background: Bedroom Recorder

These pickups are silky smooth and have a great warm sound with that classic and distinct 50s character that also do some wonderful things with distortion and fuzz.

They didn't work in the guitar I bought them for. I ended up with Fender Pure Vintage 64s in it. That one needed to be a bit more raucous.

I did get and heavily alter another telecaster to suit these because I love the way they sound so much. Now I have 2 very distinct telecasters, and that was not in my plan. Haha!

Tele Tone

By Larry P. from Charlotte
Music Background: Blues player

Sweet buttery Telecaster tone is easily obtained with these pickups.
Better than Seymour Duncan, Fishman, DeMarzio, Fralin, and Lollar pickups that I have tried…

Surprisingly tgat tgese are Fender pickups based on 50's.

Just incredible tone that is strong and robust, yet without any ice-pick on the bridge.

A Nice Upgrade

By Peter C. from Northwest Arkansas
Music Background: Intermediate Guitarist and Bassist, Classically-trained Pianist, Local Musician

I installed these pickups and it truly elevated the sound of my Squier Affinity tele. These pickups are so beefy and clear. They have some seriously authentic tele twang and the neck is all sparkly just how I like it. All three switch positions are recording-worthy tones. There's a reason I gave these a 5/5.

I popped these bad boys into my first electric guitar. For sentimental reasons I decided to upgrade it instead of replacing it with a "real" Fender. It had cheap ceramic pickups and electronics in it and it was a night-and-day difference after wiring everything in. The previous pickups weren't terrible, but these are *nice.*

It now sounds almost as nice as an American Tele. (I'm replacing the original neck to make it play about as nice too.) In short, these pickups turned my guitar into something I'm proud to gig and record with.

Fantastic Sound!

By Dan F.

I'm using these pickups in my mid-90s MIM Tele usually through a black face Deluxe Reverb reissue, and this set up sound fantastic for anything I play. While the bridge pickup does have the classic Tele sound, which requires the treble to be rolled back on my amp, the neck pickup is a warm beauty. They work very well together, giving a full range of the Tele sound - this guitar has never sounded so good since new, I can't get enough! The cloth wiring, string wound bridge pickup, and wax potting are nice touches. I absolutely recommend these pickups regardless of what you play. For reference, I don't play country really, usually folk and indie rock - sometimes clean with some reverb and amp above 5 for breakup, or through a tube screamer and occasional big muff. Loving this guitar more than ever thanks to these pickups!

Fender Original Tele pickups

By Sweetwater Customer

These pickups gave my Squire thinline a real Tele sound. 3 useable positions and 3 different sounds. The stock pickups were shrill on the bridge, but the original Tele pickups tamed that harsh brightness. I don't even need to use the tone knob on the bridge pickup. The neck sounds nice as well, but different. Middle position is true Tele sound. Overall they are quiet and the price is right. Much cheaper than boutique pickup set and to my ears, just as good. Fast shipping.

By Randy S. from Gaylord, MI
Music Background: Professional Musician

Very nice set of pickups. Well balanced and just the right amount of output for my Tele. This is the way a Tele is suppose to sound! Sweetwater ships fast and has great service also. Thanks Jared Kalish. Whenever I've had a question you've never let me down!

Look no further for that Tele twang!

By Sweetwater Customer from Washington

Have been playing around with several different pickup combos on my American Pro Tele. Some Fender, some boutique. All sounded pretty good until I picked up a '52 Ltd. Korina bodied Tele with these ('52) pickups. Immediately thought "This is it!". I also have a 70th Anniversary Broadcaster with the Custom Shop Nocaster pickups. It is pretty close but still not quite that high end twang. If that is what you want, grab a pair of these!

Pickup replacement

By Tommy T. from Pottsville, Arkansas
Music Background: Playing guitar in Church for 30 + years.

I changed out the original pickups and switch in my Fender Squire Standard Telecaster with USA Fender pickups . I also had a Bill Lawrence 5 way switch to go with them . After changing it all out and plugging in to my POD XT Live , on a clean setting , it was unbelievable what this guitar sounded like . I now have 5 positions on the pickups and they sound so much better than what it came with .

Fender Vintage Tele Pickups

By Jess from West Coast
Music Background: a Player not a Pro.

These Alnico III based pickups have sparked new life into my 2007 Tele player. There is a warmth and tightness that I have never heard in a Tele. You can get Jazz tones, country tones, classic rock tone with these affordable pickups. If you are tired or disenchanted with your current Tele tone, these are want you are looking for.

The secret sauce

By Dave from PA

I built a kit tele from Solo Guitars, which turned out fine. It sounded like a tele, but not quite there. After reading all the reviews of the many tele pickups available at sweetwater, I settled on these. Absolutely the right choice. That kit guitar just came to life. It's got that perfect tele twang now. Very highly recommended.

These are the true Tele tone you’re chasing

By Len from Orland Park, Illinois
Music Background: 50 years of hacking away and still not there, lol!

Okay, here goes. I had put Custom Shop Texas Specials in my '98 MIM Tele and my Vintage Icon V62 Tele and they were as advertised ( neck pickup is very good) . They're excellent pickups but I just wasn't thrilled. If you want a ballsy , in your face tone , they do the job! Bridge pickup was harsh to my old ears. I decided to try these Original Vintage pickups in my V62 and holy crap! These sound phenomenal!! This is the vintage Tele sound I had in my head! Balanced, smooth in all positions. I set mine at 5/64 ; 4/64 since they're low output . YMMV . I'm very picky and very impressed!!!!

Look No Further! These Are "THE" Telecaster Pickups!

By Sweetwater Customer from Indiana, USA

I built a Warmoth 1975 Fender Telecaster Tribute and spent a great amount of time toiling over which pickups to use. I knew I wanted a quentessential/classic Telecaster sound. I wanted it to sound like every telecaster recording that I had in my head and basically just have that great "Tele" sound. I checked out about every manufacture out there. I thoroughly looked and watched a million videos for Tele pickups made by Seymour Duncan, Lollar, Klein, Tonerider, Fralin, The Pickup Wizard, etc.. and it finally just hit me... why not go with the "Fender Original Vintage" set. I then realized it was a no-brainer if I wanted that pure Tele sound.

So, I purchased the Fender Original Vintage set, installed them and.... "MAGIC"! These pickups are simply incredile! I cannot tell you how amazing they sound. They sound so incredible and pure. My Tele nails every incredible Telecaster song I play... Rolling Stones, early Zeppelin, classic country licks, Steve Howe from Yes, Radiohead, etc. My guitar sounds like a Tele should. The tone is clear as a bell, very articulate, and unmistakingly pure Tele!

I highly recommed these pickups. You will be so happy when you plug in and hear what I am talking about.

THE Tele Pickups

By Ethan from Midwest
Music Background: Recording/Gigging

I had built a telecaster a couple years back and had tried a couple different cheaper pickups from GFS to try and get what I wanted out of the instrument. Their Alnico 5s, the noiseless lace pickups, all seemed to be lacking in body or definition. I went ahead and got these installed a few days back, and I wish I had just gotten these first.

The bridge has that spanky bite that you want from a tele, the neck can be as woofy or as hendrixy as you want by playing with the tone knob, and the middle... Thats honestly where I live, it's got a hefty clarity that seems out of phase, but without sacrificing any of the low end. The kicker is, with proper shielding (copper in the cavities), these are the quietest of all the Tele pickups I've tried. Its as quiet as my Les Paul now.

I can't recommend these pickups or Sweetwater enough, if you want your Tele to sound like a Tele, just get them.

Best Tele pickups ive Heard!

By W D. from Poca, WV

When the stock ceramic bridge pup went out on my 2013 Lake Placid Blue Standard Mexican Telecaster, I decided to give these a try.
I"m glad I did.
Years ago I owned a 1953 Tele and these pups make my current one sound just the same!

The Tele sound in your head

By Sweetwater Customer from Midwest, USA
Music Background: Player, luthier of 40+ years

This truly is the Tele sound in your head; Zingy, twany at the bridge, glassy clear at the neck and sonically out of phase, Led Zep quacky in the middle. It boggles my mind that people chase the true tele sounds with everything but the original design that made those sounds in the first place.

excellent

By brett b. from shavertown, PA

These pickups shine with an overdriven tube amp. There's so many professional guitar players that use low output pickups for that reason, I feel like I have the best pickups money can buy. I don't want to use alnico 5 pickups again. And the staff at Sweetwater is top notch.
