Pure mud with some hints of yuck
Needed something quite for live performances, read a few reviews and went with theses. I've already ordered the replacements.
Think "wet blanket" highs meets "cardboard" low-end.
Amazing
I use these pickups in my Fender Strat Roadhouse Deluxe, which they came standard in. Amazing tone. Ive recorded music like Terry Kath from Chicago to Tom Delonge in Blink, and even used it for Dillinger escape plan stuff. Well rounded single coils. They work so good that you don't really have to use a noise suppressor if you're not cranking the gain on your amp and loading pedal feed. You can use them for ANYTHING!
Shhhhh - sometimes a little less is more.
it's such a wonderful thing to have noiseless pickups for a Strat - but it wouldn't mean a thing if the pickups didn't sound good - and for so many players that means MORE - LOUDER - OVERWOUND - HOT. What makes ME happy is sweet, warm, nuanced and musical sounding pickups - and my experience has been that Alnico 2 is a softer more complex sounding magnetic pickup material - with strings having more timbre. So for players who have always thought that MORE is better, these are worth a try if you are adventuring into cleaner sounds. And here's an extra bonus - effect pedals become more nuanced and responsive when not hammered with hotness...
Very nice
Does exactly what it advertised quiet and in distortion mode (all five positions) nothing and that's great
Awesome Pickups For My MIM Strat
Someone actually gave me a set of these to try for my 1991 Mexican Strat. They slid right in the cavities without any issues. When I plugged the guitar in I was astounded at the difference in the sound. I bought them from the guy immediately. They are quiet and very Fender sounding. Certainly better sounding than the Mexican originals. A friend of mine was who has a couple different Strats he plays was so impressed he went out and bought a set for one of his. I know the purists out there might not fall in love with them but if you're tired of the noise on those high bridge leads you might give these a shot.
Yeah, Really THAT Good!
I am always, first and foremost, just an old blues guy, and this is where, in my estimation, these pickups absolutely shine.
Smooth low tones, gritty high end, full mids...if I were to hear later that these pickups were designed with blues guitar in mind, all I could say is you succeeded!
You don't need to "hope to be heard" with these Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups, either. The attack and decay characteristics are everything you'd hoped for, and expect to get, from Fender.
So if you love your Strat and want your blues to have something to say, then make this investment into your axe. Worth every dime!
Quality pickups and the sound...wow!
Put these in a rebuild of an old Brownsville strat. These Fender beauties are special. I think that sums them up, they sound amazing, I can go past noon on my amp before I get even any Hiss/hum noise out of them, they also stay clear and chime really well without too much quack ( which I didn't want anyway) right up the dial on a clean channel.
Are They Any Good? You have to ask?
I have the full set in my Malmsteen Strat and I couldn't be happier! Attack and decay characteristics are amazing; hot on full and crystalline when you go sweeten up a little. Extremely sensitive and the traditionally "stratty" sound on demand and bestial, brutal and hot in overdrive! Worth it, worth it, worth it!
Rockin' the Blued
Got a set of 3 Fender Noiseless pickups in my Malmsteen strat and they are smooth as silk when a slow blues starts to burn, and have plenty of a well-defined bite when the volume goes up. I can't imagine using anything else now, and that's a good thing!
vintage noiseless stratocaster pickups
love the sound that comes from my strat now it`s awesome
Stratty, but quiet!
I installed a set in my MIM Strat, using the provided 1 Meg pots and .022 cap. I didn"t like the tone and the pots didn"t cause any tone or volume changes until the last quarter of rotation. I changed to 250K Bourns pots and .047 Orange Drop cap. The pots are much more effective and these pickups are quiet, but still Stratty sounding.
These pickups have very strong magnets and should be set low in the pickguard. Lower them even with the guard and then adjust the height for each one.
Wow! Get these pickups!
I put these in my 06 MIM strat, blown away is right. All the honk, pops, and struggles with tone are resolved. This made my $240 guitar sound amazing. Same amp same settings, totally new sound. Highly recommended. I will be ordering another set for my lead players birthday. Add some graphite saddles and it's like a new guitar. Well worth the investment. I installed these myself, not that hard really. I compared with and without shielding in the electronics cavity, it's better with shielding but still 10x quieter than the MIM stock pups. Get 'em.
Great PUPs - Set 'em Low
My 2005 Clapton Strat has been my favorite gigging guitar for many years now. These pickups are a big part of the reason, along with the active circuitry and overall playability of the Clapton Strat. I wasn't always crazy about these pickups though. When I first got the guitar, it sounded a bit muddy and sterile compared to my other Strats. When doing some research about this, I found others initially had the same impression. The answer? Set these pickups further away from the strings than the factory recommended settings. The magnets on these pickups are strong! I have found that setting them low really makes them come alive with great sparkle and fat vintage tone, and of course, no hum! I love them!
Excellent pickups
I purchased these to drop into a partscaster build - they are indeed noiseless, with a clear, well-rounded tone. If you're new to installing/replacing your pickups, rest assured that you don't have to be an engineer to figure this out. Simple installation with a screwdriver to remove the pickguard and attach the pickups, and a soldering iron to hook everything up. Customer service from Sweetwater truly deserves recognition - very fast shipping, tracking, and personal service when you need it.
amazing
its the best of all pickups
No noise....great tone
Switched out my stock 83 korean squier's pups for these and im still blown away on how full and noiseless my squier strat sounds.
Great Sounding
These are the Clapton Vintage noiseless pickups that are loaded into some of Fender's high end guitars. Their sound is a nice vintage tone that I've heard people say is a bit sterile which I don't believe is quite right. What they don't have is all that hum and micro phonics that plagued us for years, thank god. I will say though to really make these guys shine I would highly suggest the "eric Johnson jumper" and a TBX pot placed in the rear tone position. This mod brings these guys to life and expands your tonal palate, IMO.
These pickups are truly Noiseless!
I replaced a set of standard pickups with these Vintage Noiseless ones. The set also comes with far better controls for tone and volume. With a bit of patience and a decent soldering iron the job was fairly straight forward. When I first plugged in, I was getting a hum only when I wasn't grounding it by touching the strings. I realized that a lamp nearby was causing the problem! Everything is now plugged into a power strip and the pickups are truly Noiseless!
