Split Single-coil Bass Pickup

Are you looking for a new P Bass pickup? The Fender Custom Shop '62 Precision Bass Pickup has been heard in the American Standard series since 2012 and is a faithful reproduction of the famous pickups from the '60s. To achieve this vintage tone and feel, Fender's craftsmen use period-correct materials, including enamel-coated magnet wire, flush-mount pole pieces, a fiber bobbin, and cloth output wire. This split-coil pickup creates a smooth, warm tone with an even string response. The P Bass influenced the sound of rock and roll, inspired countless artists, and is the choice of many bassists at Sweetwater. And with the Fender Custom Shop '62 Precision Bass Pickup, you and your bass can create era-defining tones for today's generation.

Custom shop 62

By Sweetwater Customer from LA

Was a little too vintage sounding with a .1 cap but perfect with a .050.

Wonderful Tone

By Doug R. from Duluth, GA
Music Background: Musician at Nothing But You Music

These pickups made my Squire P-Bass into a Fender P-Bass in its tone and frequency response. I love the sound of my P-Bass now.

62’ reissue P’bass pickups

By DD from Northern California
Music Background: Retired touring musician

My order came quickly! I have a Mike Dirnt signature P'bass and the pickups gave out, the new ones came on a brass plate that I had to modify to fit but it was no problem. They are super quiet and strong from bass to treble, definitely worth it.

Old school thumper

By Buzz
Music Background: Weekend warrior

I had doubts about buying Fender aftermarket upgrades. I put this in '93 MIJ precision two years ago with some TI jazz flats and 50 shows later I've never looked back. I'm not sure if it's my bass or the pickup, but it has this really "woody", dirty, grit that sounds really unique with the tone up. It really has a believable vintage sound. I waited way too long to adjust pickup height because that really put it over the edge. My only hang up is the protruding pole pieces look kind of odd, but whacha gonna do.

Fantastic upgrade

By Sweetwater Customer

Put these in my MIM Fender P-bass and was immediately blown away. The highs and mids are much brighter and more defined, and the lows have much more depth. I play a lot of Proggressive Metal, so being able to hear individual high notes through low growling djents is a must for me. These pickups give me that ability. The tone adjustment is very responsive, allowing me to dial in different tones without having to rely solely on my preamp. I would say my MIM P-bass sounds just as good if not better than my USA P-bass. The only difference now being neck feel.
Bottom line. Yes. A worthy investment.

Great Pickup, Sloppy wiring

By John P. from Texas
Music Background: 35 Years in Music Industry

I love this pickup in by 62 avri precision, sounds bell clear on top end and nice pillowy lows. However, the white cloth wiring was dirty, and had red paint dripped on it somehow. Also, the cloth ends were frayed, and the wiring to the pickup itself had frayed loose wire at solder points. I'd give it a 5 but the workmanship was lacking.

Great Pickup, No Fender Quality Control

By John P. from Spicewood Texas
Music Background: 35 Years in music playing bass

Fantastic Pickup! I gave it a two because I had to rewire the whole pickup due to very, very poor workmanship, sloppy red paint on the dirty white cloth wire, frayed cloth ends, frayed and broken wires at pickup solder points...a complete mess of a job. The Fender tech should have been ashamed to let this go...really should have been fired for a job like this. But I made it look professional, and sounds amazing.

Great Pickups!

By Bob R. from Oakland, TN
Music Background: high school/college drummer-Church bass player now

The pickups made my P-Bass sound like an original from the 60's. I purchased a new Fender Player Series P-Bass a couple of months ago and was not happy with the sound. It was a "Made in Mexico" bass. I immediately purchased new pickups and all internal electronics, pots and jack. I also replaced the stock strings with a better set of flat wounds, which is my personal preference. When I was replacing the electronics, I moved the bridge ground wire and found it was not even connected to the bridge, just stuck in the hole from the cavity to the bridge. That is the source of the noise I was having. I removed the bridge and reattached the ground wire. Now my "Made in Mexico" P-Bass is mostly American, where it counts. I am totally thrilled with the sound now. It plays and sounds like one of it's big brothers, still for a lot less money. I would highly recommend these pickups, especially if upgrading a less expensive version of the P-Bass. The output and sound quality over the stock pickups is well worth the price.

This was a perfect upgrade to my Road Worn 50s precision bass. It now has a much smoother deeper tone.
The overall tone is way more defined. Thank you Sweetwater for helping me decide to go this route!!

Fender 62 P Bass Pickups

By Nick from North Carolina
Music Background: Bass player 40+ years

I recently purchased a used Precision Player bass guitar and while I was impressed with the sound, I thought about adding to my rig (GK MB212II)then I thought about making a pickup change. After reviewing several brands, I went with the Original Fender '62 Precision Bass Pickups, best upgrade I've ever done to any of my basses. The sound is great, I use the GK MB212II with an Eden Preamp/DI pedal, both purchased from Sweetwater and it is a beautiful combination. Thanks to Sweetwater for all the great gear.

62 Custom Shop Precision Pick up

By Shane

This pick up sounds amazing in my Player Series P-Bass! I was a little hesitant to change at first because the Player P sounded pretty awesome with stock pick up, but I am super impressed with this upgrade. Once again, Sweetwater has exceeded my every expectation.
