The PST7 series is the result of Paiste's continued development of materials and production techniques - giving you the sound and quality you're used to from Paiste cymbals at an affordable price. Made using the same CuSn8 Bronze (aka 2002 Bronze) base that their famous 2002 series is comprised of, these cymbals work great in a wide variety of musical settings to keep your kit's sound as versatile as you need it to be. The sound is brilliant and clear, warm and strong, with powerful projection. Nice crisp hats. Not too bright. Nice.
Paiste PST 7 hi- hats
It's hard to find low budget cymbals that are any good now, but these hats can measure up to higher price ones Just go to the Paiste website and listen to all the sound samples. You can't go wrong with the PST 7 Line of cymbals!!
Great hats
Some of the best sounding hats I've played. I've spent tons of money on hats over the years. I play in a church and these have the perfect volume and tight chick sound I like. Quality ha hats at a great price.
Pst 7 awesome !! hi - hats
Just got these pair of his ha-hats this week and was surprised how good they sound ! When I play at church they have a nice sound when closed and they sound amazing played open , I definitely recommend them !!
Almost Identical to the 2002's
Wow! Just got these in, and was surprised about how good they sounded. They sound almost exactly like the 2002 hats. They have a nice chick sound when closed, and they sound amazing played open. I would pay 3 times the amount for the same hats. The only thing I don't like is how fingerprints stand out. Its not the end of the world though. Overall, 10/10.
Big thanks to Jeff for helping me out with my order.
Awesome Hi Hats
I tried to find a negative review on these PST7 hi hats, but couldn't find a single one. After buying a set I can see why.
These are awesome. Outstanding articulation, you can hear every tap of the stick clearly. What a nice treat to play my kit and not have the hi hats fade into the background.
Bottom line: if you're on the fence about these, buy them. You will not be disappointed. The positive reviews are totally justified. Best hi hats I've ever owned.
Didn't WOW me
I have worked in some hi-end studios in the 80's and couldn't afford/justify personally buying some top cymbals, so for this price, these are serviceable, but don't put a smile on my face. I'm not a real drummer anyway, but I know what I like, and it seems there are no shortcuts when it comes to real nice cymbals. These come close!
Excellent hats that are reasonably priced
As a lifelong drummer, I'm a bit ashamed to not have upgraded my hihats sooner. After 20years of using some brass stock hats that came with an old set of mine, I started researching for a bronze upgrade. Honestly, anything would've been better than what I've been working with. I chose the pst7's because I'm a fan of the versatility of the 22" giant beat, but wanted brighter lively hats, so I settled on these. What a difference these make, when playing solo or mic'd up for a gig, they're crispy, sizzly, and easily cut through and project when you want them to. Yes, I could've spent double the price or more on a signature series hat or a big name hand made pair, but these do exactly what I was looking for, sound great, and still leave me with plenty of beer money. I'm stoked.
Great bang for the buck
I picked these up on a recommendation from a Paiste rep at GearFest. They are a great option for student through intermediate level players, and may be the best pair of hats you can get for this kind of money. Sounds great from tightly-closed chick through half-open clushing. Slightly lacking in a more open position, but in my opinion most hi hats are. I'm very happy with my purchase!
Great sounding
Got these to replace a pair of really bad hi-hats that came with a used kit (can anyone say Scimitar?). I use my kit to do light recording, so I am not a robust drummer, but have played in bands, and played Paiste 2002 Sound Edge hi-hats, and although I don't currently have a pair to compare side-by-side, these PST-7 cymbals sound very similar to my ears. I just don't have $ to shell out. Had these for about 2 months, and play a little 2-3 times a week, seem solid and durable. Good chick and wonderful open sound. Highly recommended. Go to Paiste website to hear samples, that really sold me. Of course, Sweetwater has a good price, plus free shipping.
Highly Recommend
I have been slowly switching over to Paiste cymbals after using Zildjian for many years, have a 2002 ride and crash and wanted hi hats. Didn't have the budget for the 2002 hi-hats, so I looked into these. Checked the sound file on Paiste's site and thought they sounded pretty good, so went ahead and ordered them. I compared them to my New Beats, bottom cymbal seemed to be about the same weight, but the top lighter and thinner. Very impressed when I tried them side by side as to the crispness of them compared to the New beats, and that is what I was looking for. Save yourself $ unless you just have to have the 2002's !
