Rode PSA1 Desk-mounted Broadcast Microphone Boom Arm
Rode PSA1 Desk-mounted Broadcast Microphone Boom Arm Reviews
The Rode PSA1 studio boom arm from Sweetwater is perfect for radio, broadcast, or home use. Designed to fit unobtrusively into your studio, this easy-to-use and continuously adjustable boom arm gives you full 360-degree access to your microphone, with a stable horizontal and vertical reach of nearly three feet! The PSA1 boom arm can easily accommodate microphones weighing up to 2.4 lbs., making it an ideal desk stand for most broadcast-style microphones. Hook-and-loop wraps keep your cables out of the way, and a set of attachments provide multiple mounting options for the Rode PSA1.
Buy the Frameworks instead
This arm has some frustrating design issues. First, it is hardly as silent as they claim. The springs inside the arm make a hell of a racket when moving the arm. Great if you want some added cheap spring reverb for a horror pod cast. Second, there is no easy place to clamp the majority of available pop screens without adding some kind of converter. Third, if you are using the interior desk bracket, you better have a desk thicker than 3/4" because their design forces a minimum distance between clamp ends.
All of these problems are avoided by the FrameWorks arm.
Perfect
I didn't realize how fantastic a boom arm could be until I got the Rode PSA 1. It is super simple to mount and holds the weight of an SM7B with no problems. Totally silent, moves and stays wherever you put it, and is so incredibly user friendly. If you're looking for a desk mounted boom arm, this is the one.
Worked Perfectly
I am also an amateur radio operator, and out of all the boom arms I have used, this one is the best. I expected to not be able to use the clamp to mount it, but tried it and was pleasantly surprised. I held well on the cabinet I clamped it on, even when I swing the mic in any direction I need to place it. I am using it in my small home studio with a Shure SM 7dB mic, and it balance perfectly. You can adjust the balance using the screw on the main pivot closest to the mic, if needed. Cable routing was easy, and it is just a boom arm you set and forget about fiddling with adjustments after that. I think it is fairly priced. I have used boom arms that are cheaper, and some more expensive, but the best part of this one is that it works like you expect and need it to work.
Rode Desk mount Mic Boom Arm
Just as it was meant to be
Will not stay in position
I wanted to love this arm. It mounted on my Desk elegantly and clamped nicely in place. But no matter what I do I cannot get the arm to remain in a desired position after bending it where I want. Very frustrating. I am not sure what I'm doing wrong. I tried tightening the screw located at the Elbow of the arm. No luck.
Great product, great service
Product arrived quickly, as advertised. Great service from our rep, as always!
Awesome tool
I love this thing. I hang a LDC upside down and it keeps all clutter off the work surface and has a nice reach. It can handle a heavier mic but you really have to crank down the clamp to keep it from sagging and angling down. Thats the one weakness. If it has a really secure fitting at that last point of articulation it would be 5 stars….which is probably what's up with the 'plus' version for +$.
I love this Desk-mounted Boom Arm
Strong, simple and easy to set up. Plus the customer service is the best in the industry! I will shop Sweetwater again!
Great product
option 1 clamp it with the base adapter, option two is a desk insert. Love this boom arm
Simply The Best
Upgraded to this from some cheap amazon boom arm. I never thought I'd appreciate a boom arm this much, but since I use it every day in a work from home environment, I can definitely say this thing is smoooth and makes using a mic a breeze. Definitely no looking back and a must have when pairing with an SM7b.
Incredible with the ElectroVoice Re-20
I tried for years to use cheap boom arms because I thought the price of this was outrageous, but no I regret not paying the extra $ for the upgraded version of this.
I use an ElectroVoice RE-20, which is quite a heavy mic and many cheaper boom arms simply cannot handle it. There are absolutely no issues with the Rode PSA1.
One of the things that is essential to me is the ease of maneuvering the mic very frequently while also making sure it sticks firmly in the place I position it. The PSA1 absolutely excels in this. It is easy to move, yet will hold its position wherever I want to put it.
Make sure you're careful when packing and unpacking the arm! It really can flip out and injure you if you are not prepared.
The springs inside the frame rattle
This would be a 4.5 to 5.0 star review except that I hear a slight rattling sound emanating from the springs inside the frame whenever I type on the keyboard because I've attached the boom to my desk. It's not very loud, but it's noticeable enough that I'm tempted to return the product. Otherwise, the product does the job very well. The frame is sturdy, and the counterweights are sufficient enough to hold the microphone at wherever I position it.
Right mic stand for u
Have bought this item before Works Good and is flexiable as it should be And supports all type of mics
Great swing desktop mic holder
This is the way to go, works perfect!
Works Like A Dream
This thing is amazing. It stays wherever I put it, every time. Highly recommend! My mic is always available any time I am ready to lay something down!
pretty cheesy
No matter how tight I tighten the knobs, my Rode NTK mic just sags...there is no way to get it to stay firmly at a given angle. Now the whole thing is so tight I can't even loosen it up, and *still* it won't hold the NTK mic vertical. I'm going to have to get a couple of pairs of channel lock plyers to get it to loosen up, and really..who cares? the mic still slips down and won't stay firmly in place. What can I say? Lame.
Does exactly what it's meant to do
I can put my microphone anywhere I want and it stays there. The only improvements I could suggest are 1) larger range of motion for the "wrist", and 2) the ability to go past 180 degrees for the "elbow". Those are 100% aesthetic considerations so that I could get the arm out of the camera shot.
Wonderful way to hold your mic!
Does everything a boom arm should do with much strength. Perfect for my YouTuber/gamer. He loves it and he truly appreciates the quality especially for the relatively modest price.
These will probably be the ones I buy for our podcast home studio next.
Rode Desk Mount
First, I continue to be incredibly impressed with Sweetwater's customer service. I had been buying all my musical items from another source for many years - but have now established loyalty to Sweetwater.
The Rhode PSA1 is very good. It is well made. Easy to mount. Love it that it comes with 1/2" and 3/4" threads to mount a mic clip. I almost sent it back however because when I mounted it and used it, it kept popping up. The weight of the mic did not hold it down. I searched to see if others had the problem and yes they did and pointed me to a screw that needed to be tightened. Once I did that, all has been fine. My suggestion would be for Rode to provide way to tighten tension - make it more visible and easy.
Wow! Awesome. Heavy, sturdy.
I was blown away by quality. Its well made. Old school with thick metal, heavy duty. I will always buy from this company and Sweetwater! Such a breath of fresh air to get quality stuff in todays world.
My son has YouTube channel. Now with this it reaches from behind so camera does not see it.
I also bought a Shure high end Usb/xlr mic. This thing took the weight and wants more. Bravo to the manufacture for getting it right! And top notch sweetwater for having this!
Works Just Like I Wanted It to Work
This has done wonders for clearing up space on my desk, combos especially well with the fact I put my monitor on an arm mount. Should make it easier to acoustically treat my recording space as well.
Simply Perfect
Its so simply to set up and does it job perfectly. At first i thought no way can this arm hold up my mic without sinking but its built ridiculously fine. Its been almost a year and havent had 1 issue.
Best mic stand I have ever used.
Put simply this is the best mic stand I have ever used. Stays where I put it and does NOT droop over time like most other stands. I have now added them to 2 other setups for my sons.
Perfect....or almost perfect....but there's an annoying thing
I use an SM7B...and the knobs on the top clamp get in the way of the mic's base. Everything is a great....BUT this is a BIG but...
Great Quality
Was confused at first because the arm wanted to stay extended, once you attach your mic and add the weight the arm will stay folded
Just the ticket
The Rode Boom Arm is just what I needed. Woot.
Rode boom arm
High quality product. I'm very happy with sweetwater sound for carrying this item.
awesom
The quality is some of the best I've seen. I definitely recommend it.
Works great for an SM7b
Well balanced stand that's sturdy enough to hold my SM7b.
Sturdy and Reliable
Even though it was a pandemic purchase, I wanted something that looked sturdy and would last. Almost two years later I'm incredibly happy with this boom arm and would definitely recommend it to others. The ratings here at Sweetwater tell the tale - the Rode PSA1 is worth the purchase.
Sturdy, Strong, Holds A Lot
I've used floor mic stands for my recording and podcasting for years. I was frustrated but the boom movement due to the length I had to have to reach across my desk. The PSA1 address my need. Plenty strong enough for heave condenser microphones and it stays in place where I put it. I will be buying a second one for when we have interviews.
Perfect stand for a great price
Stable, easy to adjust, zero wiggle, great mounting options
Great Solution
This was easy to install and easy to tweak for what I need. The arm is very quiet when moving it around on my desk and the noise from moving it barely shows up in my microphone.
Boom mic PSA1
It's crazy….I checked all my local music stores and they didn't have the rode PSA1 mic stand.so I turn to the trusted sweet water site and a short minute later I'm swinging my new mic stand off of my computer desk. Great response time! Thanks again for the piece of mind.
Aweaome
This is one of the awesome arm i got from rode wow its 360 degrees and also it handles the weight of the podcaster and the procaster microphone not just that my microphone is also staying on the arm for long but never fell from the arm its very easy to suggest as well i will buy this arm again if incase in one more but for now i am happy with arm and my microphone. u bought the cheap boom arm before it was very flimsy but this arm is very sturdy and its also mad with metal which is amazing.
Superb boom arm
I waited months before purchasing this boom arm, and now that I have it, I find it to be superb! You put the microphone where you want it, and it stays there. No drooping or popping up. I wish I'd purchased it months ago.
I love this mic arm!
I had recently bought a SHURE SM7B, and I wanted to make sure I had a high quality mic arm to go with it, and after a few weeks, I'm happy to say the Rode PSA1 is that and more. It's everything you could want out of a mic arm. It's super adjustable and reliable.
Best in class
Works well and holds my mic in just about any position. Solid unit.
Should've bought it sooner
I'm pleased with this. It makes recording vocals at my studio desk a lot easier. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is considering it.
Love it!!!
Best boom on the market. Love the feel and weighted movement of this boom. I thought the Blue Compass was the solution to my problems but due to being to aggressive and tight movement I upgraded to the PSA1 and I think it's a far better boom. Universal and fit for my needs. I also like that it comes with a desktop permanent plate for mounting directly into the desk. Most other booms charge extra dollars for this extra piece. Overall best value and best fit for anyone looking to get professional with your mic
Rode mic boom
Excellent quality. Sturdy enough to hold a heavy mic (e.g., the EV RE27).
Highly disappointed
Did all the research and this looked like the best one. It won't stay where put with my Neumman mic no matter how much I tighten it. If I didn't throw away the box I would return it for a refund. Highly over-rated arm.
This thing is perfect
I knew I didn't have space for a traditional desk stand and my rep suggested this. I was hesitant because it still attaches to the desk. But this thing is amazing! It sets up and tears down super quick. And it's maneuverability is incredible. Would definitely recommend. In fact I bought two more for our company almost instantly!
Works with very heavy mics, but quality varies, and it's not up to Rode's standards
Quality Item
Easy Setup, works flawlessly. Well built, rock solid.
Great stand. Wouldn't get it if you have an SM7B
Great stand. Well put together. I would not get this stand if you have an SM7B. The design is flawed with the log stem input for the SM7, which means you cant really swivel it all the way at the head. Really frustraiting since every review on this thing is basically perfect. Wish I knew this before I bought it. Oh well.
Outstanding
The product is great and the customer service was even better. Loved the bag of candy touch!
Good product/good service
It's just a desk mount boom stand, but it's exactly what I needed with limited work space. Also, what great customer service! A follow up call for a $... product? Who does that?!!! I will be back for future needs.
Excellent Boom Arm
Sturdy product. Easy to set up and use. Paired with a Presonus PD-70 microphone. Great value.
Highly Recommended
I love this microphone boom! Admittedly it is the first boom I have owned but I am glad I went for the best respected model instead of going cheap.
Great product
Well made, great hinge action. No complaints!
Purchased 4 for our podcast and studio applications. Easy to use and set up.
Bouncy arm- easy fix- and off to recording!
I have two in my studio. The first one I got installed easily(desk mount) and off to the races. I got a second and the second one was bouncy. I tried loosening things. I tried using the Velcro (that was meant for the wires). I finally just googled it "bouncy rode studio arm" and found a video where they tightened the screws. That made it 100x better and began recording double mics. Now I just need to figure out how to configure to rodes on my midi.
please, for the love of god, just use this boom arm
i needed a boom arm for my yeti X mic, and unwisely went with the yeti-brand arm: the yeticaster. i'm not kidding when i say it was broken within ten minutes of unboxing. it wouldn't support the weight of the mic, and when tightened carefully, completely gave out. they were super kind at sweetwater and let me exchange the defective product for this rode arm, and it's been absolutely wonderful. it's super sturdy, super accessible, and super affordable, compared to other boom arms. i'm a composer of electronic music studying in college right now, and would absolutely recommend this arm over pretty much anything else, if you're in the market for one.
Built like a tank
It does everything it's supposed to do and will do so for a very long time.
Quality mic boom
This is my third mic boom and now I won't buy anything else. It's high quality construction that can handle a good, heavy microphone. The smooth quiet action means that I can move the mic while recording without any loud noises.
Sturdy
Does exactly what I was looking for. Looks great too! Love sweet water. Their customer service is unmatched. Super nice people and they sent a little bag of candy with my order which shows me they put time and care into orders. Love that! Keep up the good work!
Zero Complaints
I tried a couple of low cost desk booms from _another retailer_ before learning my lesson and buying this one. It's beefy, stays where you put it, and doesn't wobble. I have a heavy condenser mic in it and I'm using the desk clamp, not the drilled-in version. I'm totally happy with it.
Big thanks to Cody Kraus who always takes care of me!
Convenient
I will have to say this is a pretty convenient boom. My preamps and compressors are in a rack under my desk, I work in a very limited space. This allows me to easily pull the mic down to my rack so I can sit down play with some setting and find the right sound. After I'm done it easily moves out of the way. I highly recommend it.
Great boom arm for Blue Yeti Pro
I needed a boom arm that could support the weight of the Blue Yeti Pro mic along with suspension mount. This one does the job. It supports the weight and is easy to move where I need it.
First timer
I've never purchased high quality equipment before, and I feel like I made a reliable purchase here. It feels very stable and smooth to pull. It's very easy to set up. If you're like me and you're just starting I would recommend this item! (: will update if there are problems, but so far it's really good
Does The Job & Worth The Money
I would have liked to use the arm a bit more before submitting a review, but here I am. After about 2 weeks of use, I am very satisfied with functionality, appearance, and build. This goes without saying, but you'll want to make sure your desk will properly accept this arm because it's not super forgiving in that regard. I have to be slightly careful because the edges of my desk are slightly curved. Also, I can't speak to how long the product lasts since I've only had it for 2 weeks, but perhaps another review will let us know average lifespan.
Works well on a desktop
I'm using this With the Blue Mic and pop filter, which it supports with ease and rests steadily. A solid unit you can consider.
Good not perfect
Decent boom arm, desk clamp is nice, and included Velcro straps are helpful. My gripe with this...boom arm is the lack of a tension adjustment. The arm requires the weight of a microphone to stay in position, which means when you put a lighter weight mic on there like the Rode NT USB Mini, you have to fiddle with it a LOT to keep it from rising up on its own. Maybe there's a break in period, but light mics may annoy you on this stand.
Great find!
Perfect boom arm for my Shure SM7B mic. Well built, easy to set up. I couldn't be happier with it.
Best Customer Service
You can buy products anywhere but you can't get better customer service anywhere. And that in and of itself is worth doing business with Sweetwater. The best I have ever experienced.
Great quality. Perfect!
Bought for one of my SM7B broadcast microphones. Fits perfectly on the table. Well Made. Highly recommend if you're looking for a high quality broadcast boom!
Great microphone arm
I had a cheap microphone arm for years and finally decided to get this one thinking it would be better but not this much better. If you are on the fence get it. You will not regret it.
Works great!
I have a set-up inside a closet for VO work. Space is very limiting. This works great to provide me a little bit more room and it's very easy to position. The arm stays in place once positioned and it doesn't make any noise while it's being moved. I expect it to last a long time.
Worth Every Penny
This is a top-notch quality boom arm. The only reason I did not give it a full 5 stars is that I am using it with a Shure SM7B. It has no problem at all supporting this mic, the only issue I have with it is how the XLR jack on the mic is poistioned can interfere with the tentioning knobs if you wanted to have the mic 90 degrees left/right. Meaning that the placement of the boom arm can't be too far right or left of the seating position. It isnt a problem in my case but i could see it causing issues for some.
Sturdy and functional, but with minor movement limitations
Great Boom Arm
I bought a few of these for a podcast my church was starting. I was looking for something simple and mobile. Pleasantly surprised with this boom arm. The clamp is solid, the arm articulates really well, easy to place your mic where you need it and it stay there. The arm is flexible yet rigid enough for it not to drift. Handles a Shure SM7b well.
Worth every penny
I've gone through my fair share of more budget options and different designs.
After much effort to find a good enough alternative and save myself a few bucks, finally decided to try the real deal.
Now I wonder why I even shopped around so much.
Rode PSA 1 Studio Arm
Great studio mic arm...
It has two ways to mount on a table(clamp or bolt in the table)and is very comfortable to use.
I love it!
Love my boom arm
Smooth operation. I drilled a hole in my desk and now use the boom regularly. I use a KSM44 for all of my work meetings and recording. I move the mic around all day long and after one week it is a great stand.
VinnDoggradio RODE PAS1 BOOM ARM REVIEW
The broadcast boom arm works like a glove. Absolutely perfect durability. I will be doing a review on my Instagram page... And I will definitely give it 10 Stars. Looking forward to being sponsored soon by Sweetwater hopefully
Nice Product
wish it were taller but works well
Works like a Broadcast boom should
Perfect for the job!
Just perfect for my purposes. I mounted it on a 6 foot folding table that I use as my desk. Swings in and out when I need it. I use it for holding the microphone when I create voice narration for training videos. When I took it out of the box, I thought it might not be but, it is well balanced to keep the microphone wherever you put it. It is quiet. It doesn't squeak when you move it (not that I am moving it while I am using it) Just perfect addition to my home project studio. Great value. Highly recommend.
RODE PSA 1 deskmount Mic boom
Purchased the Rode PSA 1 to use with my Blue Yeti Mic. I use it for zoom meetings with my Ukulele Group. It works well and is just fun to use. I also use it to record on my computer. It gets the mic off my desk and provides better placement for mic use. Bottom line the Rode PSA1 is helping me get through this crazy pandemic. Sweetwater is a pleasure to do business with. Very personal and friendly, helpful people. Thank You Sweetwater.

Better Than Expected
This thing holds my SM7B like theres no weight on it. And comes with the very well made permanent mount if you wanted to drill your table or desk.
Love It!
I'm satisfied and would recommend this product.
Sturdy and flexible
A great broadcast arm needs to withstand lots of adjustments by all sorts of people. The PSA-1 fits those needs perfectly. I'm using the clamps for now; we may do a more permanent mount later on. I'm using it with both some RE-20s and our U 87s; the arm handles big microphones like a charm.
Best "arm" ever
Stable! With the clamp it is actually stable on my desk and it doesn't even have full coverage on the clamp. Works great, I have 2 now so I can use it for interviews in the studio. I've tried less costly arms and they fail the "clamp" test: not stable... now it's in my woodworking shop holding my Dremel tool.
Don't buy
This is my second one and after a certain amount of time and use, even the second one has the same issue as the first. the wire inside the boom arm starts rubbing on the external metal body causing noise and friction when moving the microphone especially up and down. This of course is a huge issue when recording. In my opinion, this is cheaply made and unacceptable... I would not buy again.
Great Product
Awesome Product, Fast Delivery and Excellent Customer Service. Boom Arm fits with my Rhode NT-USB mic and the counter balance works perfectly.
Using with Rodecaster and Procaster Mics
Using this with Procaster Mics and Rodecaster for 24/7 Internet Radio Station.
Works perfect for Main DJ and will eventually add 3 more for guests.
Solid construction but limits the microphones you can attach
The build is solid and the free-swinging movement is nice. I was hoping to use this with a Shure SM7B and with the way the tightening bolts are arranged at the point of connection, the stand and microphone aren't compatible.
This is probably best for a microphone that doesn't have its XLR connector right next to its point of attachment.
broke after short usage time
the fore arm of my stand broke after only months of use. it can't be extended anymore and is always in the down position. opening it up and attempting to fix it myself was impossible due to the welds. Would not recommend for anyone looking for something that lasts
Professional Studio Mic Boom
This unit is extremely professional looking, and can hold heavy microphones with ease. Be warned, however, that it requires the microphone to be installed before it will balance properly. Without a microphone, the tension on the spring is so tight that it can be dangerous. In other words, don"t worry that it won"t sit in place until the microphone is attached. Once you place your microphone on it, you can move it anywhere you need to. It looks extremely professional on your desk and it stays put.
Solid Unit
More functional than fashionable--but this boom arm does what's intended. I like it. I'm recommending it.
Worth every penny
I didn't completely think I needed this, I had several standard boom mic stands, but this thing has changed my world. I do several podcasts from a home setup, and the floor standing booms I had did the job of holding up a mic fine, but the amount of real estate they occupied was why I started looking at the Rode PSA1. I've been blown away by the quality, the ease of use, and just how much more room I have available in my small space now! It's a game changer.
Real Review
I really needed the space this kind of mount provides and did quite a bit of reading on them, but the few videos online, and people's general opinion vary quite a bit. I put my Rode PSA1 to work the moment it arrived. The unit is relatively quiet (it's not silent) but I don't tend to move it while recording. Keep in mind if you mount it to your desk or work station the noise from that desk or mounting surface may transfer noise. The combination of this and the SM7B really work well together. Super convenient, well built and very helpful for cleaning up my desk. It really extends to meet my needs and doesn't sag at all.
Perfect
If you don't want to clamp this boom arm to the edge of your table, you'll need a 1" hole saw to drop the insert into. Then the boom simply drops into the insert and you have 360 degrees of rotation.
Perfectly balanced, these booms are being used with heavy CAD e100 mics with no problems.
Great!
This mic stand handles the Shure SM7 or the RE20 easily. If you're handy with a soldering iron, you can run the cable through the channel inside for a clean look.
Rode Boom stand
Seems to be a very sturdy mic stand; It has a 1 yr manufacturers warranty but Sweetwater has a 2 yr warranty on the items they sell;
Good product. Works fine.
I use my PSA1 for my amateur (ham) radio. I was able to wall mount it to a stud. I drilled the clamp bracket and screwed it in. I put a small wood block in the clamp to stabilize it. I'm using an AT 2050 mic into a Mackie M48 phantom power supply, then into my Yaesu FT2000/D HF transceiver (which does not have phantom power). I tightened the arm screws to keep the mic from rising upward by itself.) The AT 2050 mic isn't quite heavy enough to keep it steady. I may add a pop filter to increase the mic wright.
amazing boom arm
definitely worth the price!
Best for the money
Best, cleanest looking, mic stand for the $$$$, and I know, because I have been a VO artist and radio guy since 1977! Will be buying another one soon.
Exceeds Expectations
I have had the PSA1 Boom for about four months prior to writing this review and I have to say, this thing is great. It is very well built and has been extremely reliable. I shied away from drilling a hole in my nice desk for this at first, but now I am confident in this thing enough to take that plunge. This has made my workstation so much more convenient.
Works great for talk back in the studio.
Works great. Frees desk space. Use it for talk back in studio.
Great for the SM7B
As advertised, this boom arm installs quickly and easily and provides a flexible, sturdy, silent control of a desktop mic setup. Quick tip, though: Get an extender for the SM7B mount for greater clearance of the adjusting knobs. Shure actually makes a 3" extension tube (the A26X) but you may find another that works just as well.
The clamp control pin is a bit janky looking. ...I'd like to have the pin ends capped in rubber or some other finish.
Niiiiice
Really good stand, works well with my yeti.
Pros:
-sturdy
-good length
-fairly universally attachable
Cons:
-requires a fairly lengthy cord
-has a very high spring, requiring mic to be very heavy
-weight of whole unit causes surface damage over time to attached Surface
Rode PSA1
Works Great, and is stable!!!
Pretty good boom.
It seems well built and sturdy. It can even handle my giant Blue Yeti mic and shock mount, which are pretty heavy. It was hard finding somewhere to attach the pop filter and the solution I reached isn't ideal. That's the only thing holding it back from getting 5 stars.
Rode PSA1
I really enjoy my new Rode PSA1 Broadcast-style Professional Studio Boom. Ordering it from Sweetwater was the best option for me since the service is spectacular. Delivery is always on time and shipping is free.
Reason I gave this a 4.5 out of 5 stars is due to the fact the product itself doesnt turn a certain way I want it too but it still delivers.
wobbly
there's nothing in the top of the clamp to secure the arm, so it wobbles all around and theres nothing to keep it from drifting side to side. This seems like a really obvious oversight. it seemed so weird to me that i searched all my materials and the assembly guide, thinking that i'd surely missed some step. Nope. just poor construction. disappointed, especially at this price point.
wow
amazing fit into my home studio and much more dynamic than I expected! excited to launch my podcast show!
Rode PSA1
I would have given a five star but the mic clip tightening screw is a bit anemic. Otherwise, this thing is made like a brick! I love the hole mount included!
good quality arm
absolutely no complaints. Seems to be well made. Have nothing else to compare it to but I'm pleased so far
Rode PSA1
Simply Awesome!
Perfect Studio Stand
A stand with the long coiled springs can have a mind of its own depending on the weight of the mic. Like others have stated, this stand is stays in place. It's works smoothly. The desk mount is very solid.
Well Engineered
Smooth action and actually stays where you put it. My old cheap one constantly needed adjustment and was difficult to get it just right. I may sound picky but recording audio books I don't like to fight with the mic's position constantly.
I love it!
Well engineered, steady, excellent reach, and smooth operation. Has two options for mounting which is nice as sometimes mounting on the desk edge with a clamp doesn't work well. It's well worth the money.
Beautiful Product!
The Rode PSA1 is brilliantly designed, it's easy to set up and does everything one needs.
As Advertised
As advertised and met expectations set by other reviewers. The only feedback is that there is a movable plastic piece at the back of the bottom knuckle joint that is not explained in the manual. I cannot tell if it is for threading the wire through the hole in a permanent desk installation or for something else.
Great solution
I have two microphones that I like to alternate and like to have them both setup in my recording booth. I purchased two Rode boom arms and now when I'm not using one of the mics, I just swing it over to the side out of the way. This is a well made product and I am very pleased with it.
Just the right accessory!
Great for my needs. It is very stable in any position. Professional looking. The design covers all unsightly springs that show up in other brands. The PSA1 covers all levels within the metal casing with no noise when you move it. Holds the weight of any of my MXL, Rode, and Audio-Technica mics including the pop filter without sagging. I definitely recommend it.
Awesome mic stand
The build quality on this is great. Exactly what I was looking for! If you are after a boom arm for your microphone, I'd definitely recommend this one.
What I needed!
Very well built, stays in place, sturdy; and above all, sweetwater delivered it super fast. This is a keeper.
Recommeded it to a friend of mine looking for something like this.
You can use the C-clamp or drill a hole- I'm using the clamp and it holds well.
Excellent Accesory
This is a high quality mic boom that let's you get the mic up off the desk and position it where you want. It holds position consistently without drifting up or down. The clamp is strong and has a wide enough grip to handle most desks or tables.
A Very Smart Buy
This is the slimmest, lightest studio boom arm I've ever used. Smart design, easy to use, very effective and quiet. We have two of these holding up Electro Voice RE20 Microphones and couldn't be happier.
Awesome !!!
Great Ddition to the home studio. works perfectly and keeps my mic where I need it.
Why hadn't I thought of this before?
Actually, I didn't think of it. I was asking the Sweetwater guy for a short mic boom, in order to record vocals while sitting in front of the computer in my workroom. He recommended this, and it turns out to be exactly what I needed. Mic placement is perfect without blocking the screen or getting in the way of my hands on the keyboard, and when done singing or talking the armature swings out of the way simply and naturally. For hard drive recording while sitting at a desk, I'd consider it a must. Glad I thought of it.
Rode PSA1
This seems to be a well built mic arm. It's quiet, no springs that you can see, and it comes with 2 different mounts witch are both very well built! I like the Velcro cord wraps as well. I am using this with a EV RE20 mic as well as the EV 309 A shock mount and it seems to be very well balanced with this set up! And by the way, Sweetwater had the BEST prices (and free shipping) compaired to any local or internet
store!
Thanks again Sweetwater!
Wow, is this great.
Perfectly balanced, easy to install, a drill-through option if you have a desk with a curvy edge, and IT JUST WORKS. Sooooo much better than the more expensive K&M one.
Great at twice the price (shhhh don't tell Rode)
No picture of the awesome desk insert. You can use the clamp just as well, but the desk insert is even sweeter! I worried about drilling a 1" hole, but given the clamp, I was able to measure and test with my mic and prove that this was going to deliver 100%, before I took the plunge... Now I tuck the mic behind my monitor when not using it and it's so much nicer. The mic stays exactly where you put it. It's like magic. I'll never put this mic on a boom stand again... :)
Rode mic stand
My voiceover studio has taken shape with this versatile and professional stand. After planning how my studio would look..I knew this was a must have. It is solid !
Good Boom
Strong, no noise when moving, easy to adjust. I bought two of them and feel good now.
Exceeded my expectations
I know a Boom arm isn't the most glamorous purchase, but this is actually one of the most practical purchases I have made in a while.
I pleased with the balance and build quality of this boom. It's quiet and stays exactly where I want it. No problem holding the mic, shock mount and pop filter.
I thought I was going to have to drill a hole in my desk and use the insert mount, as I didn't think the clamp mount would do the job. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the clamp is BOMB PROOF and won't leave marks on my desk. I mean, it's a very solid stable design, I never expected it to be so strong.
The included velcro cord wraps where another nice touch. Somehow, I didn't realize they came with the stand.
Good work Rode.
