Best one so far
Like a few other reviewers, I tried several other arms at a similar price point, but this one is by far the best. Full articulation, sturdy mount, overall good design. Holds a Shure MV7X effortlessly.
PSA1+ Questions Answered!
After using the Rode PSA1+ for more than a month, I can now say these things: Yes! it accommodates the Rode NT1 5th Generation microphone quite nicely. And Yes! it substantially reduces handling noise compared to a desk stand. My desk had pre-drilled cable management holes so installation took less than 10 minutes. The PSA1+'s own cable management system is another plus. And since I use my desk for other computer work, the PSA1+ effectively moves the mic out of the way when not in use. It's worthy of 5 Stars!!!!!
Perfect for my needs
Perfect for my needs. Able to try out several mics of various weights (heavy) easily with no problems. Seems like one of the best boom arms on the market. Would buy again.
initial impression: extremely well built
This boom arm feels extremely well built. I was a bit surprised with how high quality it is compared to other boom arms I've bought in the past. Would recommend to a friend.
RODE PSA+1
Wow, this microphone stand is a lot better than I expected. It is very sturdy! I took it out of the box, assembled it easily, and it works great. For a home studio, I give it an A+++++. Thanks, Charlie, for the recommendation. It is the perfect fit for my needs
Excellent mic boom arm
After trying about 4 different cheaper options over the years, I bought this arm. I installed it, it worked without adjustment, and it solved my mic arm problem. It is quiet, it stays where you put it, it's very good quality, it's worth it. It holds my large mics as well as my small mics. It just works. I'm going to buy another to replace the other marginally functioning old mic arm I have in my studio.
Essential
Absolutely love this thing. I've been using them for 5 years now and they are still holding up. I just keep them on my desk and pull down the mic I need into place and it's perfect. Only downside is that it doesn't really go up high enough for singing while standing with some mics.
Rode psA1
Thanks to Rayn springer he did a great job helping me pick out this boom pole
Works Great
After watching many YouTube videos, I invested in this arm, as it was highly recommended for the SMB7 microphone. I'm new to the world of making meditation/guided imagery recordings, and the ease of this setup simplified the learning curve. I'm happy with the purchase and do recommend it.
Excellent audio solution
This boom arm reaches all around my office desk area and keeps the cable out of my way. Easy to adjust and great for zoom calls and podcasting.
works as expected, needs a heavy mic to keep it in from floating up
Easy to install. Attaches to my desk easily. comes w thread attachment for most mics.
my Yeti Blue (1.26 lbs) is not heavy enough to keep the arm down near my mouth without keeping the base attached, which makes it hard to screw onto the arm and makes the USB cable take a severe right angle bend. Planning on finding some kinda weight i can wrap around the end of the arm to weigh it down.
Should have gotten one of these ages ago...
Just as the title says - I should have gotten one of these ages ago! Just what I needed for my livestream! Convenient, stays out of the way, and highly adjustable on the fly!
Don't be fooled!
It's just one of those cheap parallel bar systems with a cloth sleave to hide the parallel bars. Oh and that, so called, cable management system, will butcher your cables. They put the piece of crap in a really nice box though.
DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Doesnt fit with an sm7b
For your regular average mic it works wonderfully, holds things securely, would be nice if it held more weight and also was actually silent like it was advertised but thats besides the point, the main reason im yapping is because id assume with the price point that an sm7b would fit but to my surprise no matter what way i twist and turn this mic like a busted up iphone charger, the Xlr just wont fit with the big honking dials for the mount, maybe im doing something wrong? Idk
Best Boom Mic Stand.
I originally bought a Gator Frameworks 3000 Deluxe Desk-mounted Broadcast Microphone Boom Arm. While it was a nice stand and very solid, I found the pivots to be stiff. I requested an exchange through my excellent sales engineer, Bill Sears, and swapped for the Rode PSA1+. The Rode far exceeded expectations! Much smoother and perfectly weighted. I'm using it with a Lewitt 440 Pure and the spring weight is perfectly matched. Love this boom and I will be ordering a 2nd one to mount a SE 2200 on. Always the best support from Sweetwater!
So far so great
I owned a low priced boom arm that I eventually gave up on and replaced with a small table mic stand. Eventually I found that mic stand rather intrusive on my desk. I decided I would try a better quality boom and I settled on the Rode. It's a REALLY good boom. So far it holds every position solid as a rock and can move into different positions with ease - straight in front of me, below me (and out of the shot) for video calls, high up if I want to stand and sing. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
Awesome Boom Arm
I recently purchased a Ua Sphere l22 mic and needed a boom arm to mount to my Argosy desk. This thing is built like a tank!
the Sphere l22 is a pretty heavy mic. The boom does pretty good with keeping it up. After a few weeks, it has began to sag a little but that is expected as the springs are going to stretch a bit with time. Quick adjustment and all has been good.
It is easy to swing out of reach with a finger swipe. I love that the mic stays in position, even when you move the boom arm.
It Works
Attached to my desk and stays in place with no problems. It's nice to have something in life that doesn't cause problems. I'm doing fine, I promise.
Solid replacement for all Mic Stands
Although expensive in comparison to other options, the Rode PSA1+ are a solid solution which will stand the test of time. This is used for a live streaming music show set up and allows me to quickly make adjustments while live not no interruption to the stream.
Love it live
I'm a singer/songwriter that plays keys and acoustic guitar, as well as running an open mic. This is by FAR better than trying to adjust a telescoping mic stand. I've owned several stands, including K&M, and they all turn when you try to lock a mic in from the side for singing behind a keyboard.
Fun fact: If you don't have a table to attached the arm to, you can use most chairs… especially if you put some gear on the chair to make it a bit heavier.
Most importantly, this will stay in place with SUPER light mics, including a Shure Beta 87A. Some broadcast arms require heavy mics to keep from springing up.
PSA+1 worth the dollars
Very sturdy. Robust mechanism holds the microphone exactly where I place it without slowly drooping due to the combined weight of mic, shock mount and pop filter. Definitely worth the few extra dollars for this new improved "+1" over the original PSA. Package also contains two mounting options. One option is the edge clamp, and a second option is for a flush mount hole in the desk surface.
Awesome, works perfectly
i am a big fan of a desk mounted mic and this stamd is perfect. Sets up in a second and WILL NOT MOVE UNLESS YOU MOVE IT. Worth the money for sure.
Boom!
Love it. Been needing one for a long time. Glad I didn't try to make one out of a desk lamp…. Lol.
I Solved my clutter problem
You might be like me - way too much stuff in a cramped space. Mic stands and gear are strewn everywhere. It's time to bring a little sanity into your work and your life. This stand solves the space problem by getting out of your way. Just mount it to your desk and - whala, you can breathe without the clutter of mics and wires in your face!! You engineer types might understand how it works better than I do. You just position it where you want to use and it STAYS PUT. When you're done, just push it out of the way extended or contracted and it stays in position perfectly. It even has a cable guide to help you manage your cable madness. Amazing service from Sweetwater - shipping is always faster than originally estimated. Need a little sanity? Buy this and find it!
This is the broadcast arm you are looking for
This is a super stable, very well-built arm with great cable management and both clamp and permanent mounting options. It looks super clean too with the fabric covering the arms and springs. It supports my SM7B perfectly, and, as another review wrote, you will want to purchase the "Shure A26X 3" Extension Tube for Desk Stands" if using that mic given the orientation of the XLR connection on that mic.
Great Studio Arm
I am interviewed on a lot of shows and this studio arm works even better than I expected. I mounted on my desk and it swings away when not in use which is very convenient. I highly recommend it.
Very very nice boom arm
I got this to replace a cheapo boom arm that came in a bundle I bought. It's supporting a Rode PodMic with an SE DM1 in-line preamp directly attached. Holds that massive weight without any issue. My desk already had one of those big holes drilled for cable management, so I used the included hole clamp rather than the side clamp. Very satisfied with everything.
Downgrade from previous model.
It may look a little nicer than the previous/cheaper model, but the functionality is a huge downgrade. I use mine for a Neumann TLM67 and it can't even hold up the weight of it. I've tightened the screws as tight as they go and it just slides down. Also, the shape of these screw knobs are WAY harder to tighten than the previous version. If you are using a SM7B, this will work...a normal sized condenser?...don't waste your money.
Great.
It's great.
Best Desk-mount Mic Boom
I tried several boom mic stands and finally found the boom stand that works! I would highly recommend buying the stand.
The perfect boom arm
Well made, smooth operation, stable, looks good. Thank you Rode, SweetWater & Phil!
Best Product Ever!!!
This best product ever on Sweet Water store!! I would recommend everyone to buy this wonderful microphone boom arm. I am a Live Streaming with Clay Clark "ReAwaken America Tour" I upgraded to this boom arm from a microphone stand. I am very happy with the professional look like a studio. I got the Rode Caster Pro as a gift from a Neighbor for live-streaming and Live interviews and decided to upgrade to a Boom Arm!
2022 Review Rode PSA1+ Desk-mounted Broadcast Microphone Boom Arm
Built Solid and holds a heavy mic very well.
I would recommend.
Shout out to Dan Robinson!
Rode PSA1+ mic arm
The PSA1+ mic arm has been a worthy upgrade to its predecessor (the PSA1), and both reliably hold my heaviest mics. Both have outstanding build quality. Candace was extremely helpful when I ordered 2 more PSA1+'s for my organization, and I was delighted when my order was delivered ahead of schedule. Many thanks to Sweetwater for enabling a recording session on short notice!
Fantastic!
I'm coming from a Blue Compass mount that ended up breaking on me. I always had to apply tension to the springs and it would always be too light or too heavy. I decided to try this one out and wow. Right out of the box the tension is perfect, fully adjustable with all of my stuff attached and no sag. Really impressed!
Awesome Boom Arm
Nice and steady Boom Arm, it stays in place anywhere you move it. Easy out of the box. Plug and play. The looks are awesome, always get compliments. Shipped very quickly, and nicely packaged.
Amazing boom arm for your mic!
RODE's PSA 1+ is a beast of a boom arm. Super sturdy, impressive quality build, great design and features. Even though pricier than other options, this one will last you for years and won't break down any time soon. Totally recommend it!
Rode PSA1+ Desk Arm
An improvement over the previous arm. Easier to move, and nice cable connectors on the outside of the arm. Well worth the money.
No more pinched fingers!
The best park of this design is the microphone mounting system. Larger knobs and more versatility in the movement is a nice upgrade from the PSA1. The protective shroud around the scissor arms are a great addition.
Rode PSA1+
Fantastic product. It's dead silent and easy to use. I wish the RODE logo wasn't blasted all over it but that's a minor gripe. Thanks!
One of the best.
I've had a Rode Procaster for some time and recently upgraded from my old 15 dollar generic boom to this one and it's a world of difference. The swivel alone changes the game by a huge margin. Perfect silence when moving as well. Nice product, and well worth it as an upgrade-- despite the cost difference.
Remarkable boom
Love this boom for my sennheiser mic. It's perfect and exceeded my expectation. It literally floats ! Very sturdy and the craftsmanship is excellent. Also shout out to Cristian Good who takes top notch care of my wants and must haves with my musical gear .
Yep, it’s a good Boom Arm!
Perfect! I'm a professional voice talent and have a new studio. The desk mount is tight and it moves like a dream. Of course I'm holding a light Sennheiser 416 so I'm not sure how this would handle a beefier mic, but it's Rode and it's really sturdy and super quiet so I imagine it would work just fine!
Works great
Very versatile, handles heavy mics. I can see why someone wouldn't like the in your face branding of the covers for video when it's going to be in the shot, but the sleeves are very nice for moving the stand, avoiding getting your fingers caught, and cable management.
No noise, sturdy
My last boom arm was very clanky and noisy, as the springs would constantly be slipping in their sockets when I moved it. This arm is nice and quiet, offers simple cable management, and has a nice looking sleeve. If you're using this with the Shure SM7B however, make sure you buy the 3-inch extension adapter, since the XLR input is located on the mic mount, and bumps into the thumbscrews.
wonderful, wonderful, wonderful
i have been waiting several years for the best desk mount microphone boom arm. finally i have found the best. previously i would read reviews of so many others and those always discouraged me. something about this one caught my attention. my ever dependable agent Paul Allen confirmed that it would be able to handle even a heavy mic like Shure Sm7b. i have 16 microphones and many of them are heavy in weight. so far this boom arm does the trick. i am trying every mic i have and so far none have caused any problems. i like how this boom arm is 360 degrees and was so easy to set up. i changed its location twice now and it took less than 5 minutes. so if you are looking for a boom arm this is the one!
Look no further
Have you ever bought a boom and as soon as you adjust it, it springs away from where you want it? Frustrating. Isn't it? This boom is the one to get. Where you put it. Is where it stays.
Get the Rode. And you'll never be frustrated ever again.
Great Product
I have been using a cheap boom arm for the past several years. it was made out of cheap metal that kept bending. It didn't swivel, and it made a lot of noise. I purchased this Rode and cannot be happier. This thing is a beast. It is strong and sturdy. It swivels. And it is so quiet. Which is perfect for my voice over business. I highly recommend.
A great mic arm
I recently switched to this arm and immediately fell in love. It was strong, silent, and needed no adjustments out of the box. On top of that, it looked great and offered a nice solution for cable management; that, however, is also where it gets 1 star off. Upon getting everything set up, I was finishing up running the XLR cable from my GOXlr to my SM7b, only to have the clip closest to the mic, snap upon me seating the last bit of cable. Didn't break in the 3 previous attempts (testing cable lengths and location of items etc), but on the final setup, it gave out and half of it broke, with VERY little effort. That is the only complaint I have about this arm, and otherwise love everything about it.
Working well and Follow-up been great!
Was recommened the PSA1+ by RODEMics on Twitter, had previously gotten my NT-USB Rode Mic from Sweetwater
the mic arm works really well and looks amazing in my computer setup, while the actual installation was simple and painfree, so far the mic arm works as i need it, having my Micrphone alot less intrusive and cumbersome in my setup.
Also, Followup by the sales rep assigned to me was on-point, friendly, helpful, and very intuitive.
Overall, Great Product, Great Sales Rep!
