The Ultimate Private Stock Jazz Box
When PRS does a Private Stock jazz box, they do it right. Take the Private Stock #9097 Singlecut Archtop. PRS’s elite luthiers applied their world-class guitar-crafting expertise to this classic hollowbody electric, and it shows in every inch of its masterful construction. For over a decade, Paul Reed Smith has hoarded the very best woods for his Private Stock guitars, stashing them away in the Vault, PRS’s repository of rare premium tonewoods. Open the case, and you’re treated to a mouth-watering symphony of superb tonewoods: a gloriously figured bear claw spruce top, a quilt maple back, and mahogany sides. The supremely playable curly maple neck is capped by a ebony fingerboard with signature J Birds inlays. Spec’d with a formidable trio of custom-wound PRS humbuckers (each one chosen for optimal tonal performance in its respective position), the PRS Private Stock #9097 Singlecut Archtop is a world-class instrument that was made to be treasured — and played — for generations.

Thinking outside the box
Paul Reed Smith made his mark in guitar design by thinking outside the box (no pun intended), and the #9097 Singlecut Archtop employs the same level of innovation as Private Stock solidbody, semi-hollowbody, and acoustic guitars. This traditional single-cutaway archtop electric is built on the PRS acoustic guitar design platform for robust build quality with outstanding tone, resonance, and articulation. As with PRS acoustics, the back and sides of the Archtop are firmly braced while the top is free to vibrate without restriction. The top’s integrated parallel bracing further supports the guitar’s construction integrity and resonance, while the Private Stock aluminum-bronze bridge with brass saddles and solid ebony tailpiece enhance the instrument’s woody richness and depth without sacrificing articulation.
Private Stock tonewoods for your playing (and viewing) pleasure
The PRS Private Stock Vault contains some of the finest tonewoods on the planet. Gorgeous wood sets for tops and backs. Toneful neck blanks. Exotic fingerboards. Handcraft a guitar with materials of this caliber, and you get an extraordinary instrument. When Sweetwater’s guitar experts visit the Vault, they can smell the wood, feel it, wet it to reveal the grain, and knock on it to hear its distinctive tone. This gives them a keen sense of the unique instruments we will finally present to you. The Private Stock #9097 Singlecut Archtop is a breathtaking guitar with jaw-dropping visuals, off-the-charts playability, and eat-it-with-a-spoon tone.
Pattern Regular neck profile for fluid playability
The Private Stock #9097 Singlecut Archtop features PRS’s Pattern Vintage neck profile that maximizes your performance and comfort. Ergonomically shaped to fill your hand in just the right way, the asymmetrical Pattern Vintage neck carve is the result of exhaustive research into the myriad of fretting-hand techniques guitarists employ across a range of music genres. A design versatile enough to have attracted fans of both fat ’50s-style necks and the thin necks that became popular in the early ’60s, the PRS Pattern Vintage neck handily accommodates thumb-over fretting techniques as well as classical left-hand positioning, in which you pivot with your thumb on the back of the neck.
Nitro finish, for the look and feel of a classic
This Private Stock instrument wears a gorgeous nitrocellulose lacquer finish over a cellulose CAB base coat. PRS’s proprietary process results in a finish that’s thin, durable, and crystal clear — the perfect formula for vintage feel and superior resonance. Nitrocellulose finishes — standard back in the day — are significantly thinner than today’s polyurethane finishes, allowing the wood to breathe. Nitro finishes not only look amazing, but they also enhance the instrument’s tonal qualities. This guitar has the look, feel, and sound of a lovingly cared-for classic — one that will only improve with age.
