Shure PS-6 Popper Stopper Pop Filter with Metal Gooseneck and Heavy Duty Microphone Stand Clamp
Shure PS-6 Popper Stopper Pop Filter with Metal Gooseneck and Heavy Duty Microphone Stand Clamp Reviews
A pop filter is used with microphones to shield the diaphragm from sudden bursts of sound which can cause a popping effect. The shield is "transparent" to sound passage and does not interfere with the movement of sound towards the microphone. Pop filters are commonly seen in recording studios situated between 1" and 8" in front of a microphone.
Excellent add on!
This Shure ps6 is an excellent add on for your mic. Can't go wrong.
Useless junk
This was terrible quality impossible to adjust position as screw would not tighten.cheaply made.
Excellent pop filter
This does a terrific job eliminating those dreaded vocal plosives while recording. The neck is lengthier than others which allows for more flexibility in placement, and the clamp works beautifully. Highly recommended!
Fantastic Pop Filter with Sturdy Gooseneck
Fantastic mesh pop filter. Sounds great, does not alter frequency yet still reduces plosives and even helps with sibilance. I upgraded from a cheaper Samson pop filter to this, with the main advantage being a four layer nylon filter and a longer and sturdier gooseneck. This pop filter is extremely simple to use and is extremely effective. I have now adopted it for all vocals in my YouTube videos.
Irritating build quality
This pop filter does block the air, when it is not falling out - which is often. The build quality on this is super irritating. I shouldn't be confronted with my flimsy pop filter times every time I record, but I am. I recommend trying out a different filter. I wish I had.
It's a pop filter
Pretty straight forward. It does what it's supposed to do and the quality feels nice.
SHURE PS-6 -- QUALITY YOU CAN COUNT ON
Built with the quality expected from SHURE. I have been using this PS-6 with a SHURE SM7B for recording vocals. Solid construction. And, as always, GREAT customer service from Patrick Dennis and the whole Sweetwater team in Indiana and Arizona.
Product ok .... parts replacement or service from Shure USA ? a complete joke ... Zero stars
The Shure USA service department is a complete joke !!
PS-6 Popper Stopper
It keeps the puhhh out of my mixes. I love it!
A cleaner, more focused sound with the filter!
Testing in an open room without a reflection shield more sound gets lost in the open air. The filter not only eliminates plosives but also seems to direct the sound at the mic for a fuller capture. It does seem to warm up the sound; not sure if that's because more sound is being captured by the mic or if it's actually affecting the EQ of the incoming sound. Either way, my recordings sound great with this filter! I'd buy it again and recommend it.
Constantly falling apart.
It was harder to keep it together than for it to come apart. Wish I was exaggerating. Best thing about it was the sturdy gooseneck, so I bought some foam and rigged it into my own sort of Hakan. Normally very impressed with Shure equipment. Not this time.
Eh
Underwhelmed. The neck on this thing was so flimsy, it was like doing gymnastics to get the filter positioned correctly each time.
The outer filter ring literally broke randomly.
Won't repurchase.
WOuldn't recommend unless you plan to set it up ONCE and never touch it again.
You don't have to kiss it
I combined two microphone boom stands into one with two booms. The PS-6 Pop filter has the same thread as the mic mount, which blows away the snake mount, for both distance and stability. Then you raise the compressor (by lowering the threshold) until you get clear vocal both soft and loud near the condenser microphone of your choice. Mine is a Sure Beta 87A and no 12 step program can save me. It's natural to want to bury your face in nylon mesh, but it's nice to back up a little and appreciate the sweet spot you're in (musically speaking... what were you thinking?) If it doesn't feel good, you're doing it wrong and your sound will reflect that.
Nice and Sturdy
Works great with the setup so far, only thing I can think of is that the filter tends to slip out easily when trying to adjust or move the stand/neck around. But it's fine.
Nice pop filter
This thing filters pops. No matter how big your lips are. It handles big fake Botox lips with ease. Spit sprayers? No problem, I'd even trust this with Daffy Duck in the vocal booth.
Solid
Sturdy and functional. Don't waste your time and money with a cheaper pop filter, this is well worth the extra $. Professional grade hardware, no more sagging pop screens, no more fiddling once it's set.
Shure PS-6 Popper Stopper Pop Filter
The filter performs well for the money. But the filter easily "pops" out of the holder.
Expected Better Build Quality From Shure
Our studio just purchased two of these. It does handle the pops, but the head design and build quality are poor. The ring holding the nylon filter is not round and the inner filter ring does not fit tight in the outer ring that holds it. It has gaps. The outer ring can be tightened down but at full tight, the gaps remain. Also, the Shure Popper Stopper logo is printed on the front of the filter, right in the face of the artist. I wish it was more subtle or reversible (reverse side looks unfinished). The mic stand attachment is fine and the gooseneck is stiff enough to stay in place well. We love our Shure mics, but just wish Shure had done a better job on the design and build quality of this pop filter.
worth it
Have been through the bargain brands and finally out of frustration purchased the Shure model. This one is definitely worth it! Solid, quality construction, holds position without becoming loose. Does what it is designed to do so can focus on recording and not the equipment.
Sibilance Tamer
I needed something to settle down a few plosives and some sibilance with a particular artist. The Shure PS-6 was just what the doctor ordered.
Huge improvement
This is a huge improvement over basically most things under this price. Worth it if you hate having to get one every 2-3 months. Seems like it'll last a while.
A KEEPER
I'M WILLING TO BET THAT A LOT OF YOU OUT THERE HAVE OR HAVE A SHURE PRODUCT. I OWN A NUMBER OF SHURE MICS AND EQUIPMENT. SHURE HAS BEEN THE MOST RELIABLE BRAND TO THE MUSIC INDUSTRY AND MUSICIANS.
I'M REALLY IMPRESSED WITH THE PS-6. IT'S MADE WELL. THE CLAMPING SYSTEM IS MORE THAN AMPLE AND HAS SUFFICIENT NECK LENGTH. I EVEN ORDERED A SECOND ONE BECAUSE, THE PS-6 WORKED SO WELL. IF IT HOLDS UP AS WELL AS EXPECTED, THE PS-6 WILL GET FIVE STARS.
Great Choice
I bought this for my new studio mic. I like the way it attaches to the stand plus it does the job it is intended. Don't forget the great service from Sweetwater!
POP FILTER
THIS PRODUCT WORKS VERY WELL. HIGH QUALITY CONSTRUCTION. RECOMMEND.
Shure Pop Filter - Quality as Expected!
This pop filter has a quality coated steel goose neck, and a very strong coated steel-plate mounting bracket. The set screw has a slotted clamp-end to securely grip the mic-stand boom.
It is the quality I would expect from the Shure company, whose mics I've used without a failure for 30 years.
Incredible pop filter!
I should have bought this 2 years ago! The Shure Popper Stopper does...what it says. The size of the 2-layer screen is big enough to cover the entire mic, the goose-neck allows me to move it around easily and the clamp to the mic stand is girthy and sturdy! Now I'm running my mouth at high speed without having to go back in to edit out pops and plosives! Oh,...and one more thing...Sean Geyer is a customer service GOD. He wants to make sure your purchase is working the way you expect it to and wants to make sure you're happy. Sweetwater never...and I mean NEVER disappoints!
Great Quality For The Price
This pop filter really does its job well. It is of far better quality than the other filters I have used, and at this price point, it can't be beat!
Pop Stops the Filter
Stops the pops very well. A tad cumbersome trying to adjust it without the nut(s) loosening. It has to be 1" or further away from the mic to be functional. It will block your face from an audience even though it is opaque. The filter comes out easy for cleaning. Don't use hot water!
Easily the Best Pop Filter for Your Money!
