Not Bad, but buy some better tuners
I recently bought a PS120, after playing it for a couple of weeks I am very pleased with the Custom 5 bridge pickup and the 59 neck pickup is decent. Playability wise, the neck seems good, smooth and straight. A very nice guitar, my only complaint is that the tuners are really bad. I constantly have to tune the guitar because of slipping. I would replace the tuners as soon as possible. I ordered some Graphtech locking machine tuners,I have not received yet although I am sure this will fix the problem once I install them.
Best guitar I’ve ever had
This guitar feels supreme. I love the feel of the neck. The frets to not stick off the edge and the action is just right.
Great after a setup
Mine needed a fret level. The neck was was flat with the truss rod all the way loose, which was a good change from needing to tighten them all the way on other guitars. A set of 11's tuned down a half step and it was ready to go. Double check the pickup wiring too. I shortened lot of extra wire shoved in there.
Does have a thick chunky neck that is very comfy. Don't buy if you like skinny necks. Get a ps10 from the Kate 70s early 80s.
Tone is great. Middle position on pickup toggle sounds out of phase, not sure of that's on purpose or not. Was able to intonate perfect, and stays in tune great.
I was very hesitant with it being made in China, but...
Awesome Paul Stanley model!!
I got this guitar new from Sweetwater and as usual they provided excellent customer service with pictures of the actual guitar I was getting and inspected it to make sure all was working properly. I set it up to my liking and this guitar is amazing!! I love the feel and sound of this thing. The intonation was perfect out of the box and I really like the way the Seymour Duncan pickups sound and this thing plays like a dream! Very smooth neck and fret ends with the binding around the fingerboard etc. I've wanted a Paul Stanley model since I played one in my local music shop in the late 70s and for the price compared to a ps10 now I am very pleased.
PS 120
I was going to buy the PS-10 made in Japan. However upon comparing the two, This High Quality China Version has everything the Japan version has at a 2/3 savings. This is my only China Guitar, They got this one right!! The fit and finish is impeccable!! Both have the American Seymour Duncan Pick-ups. After all Human Beings make all guitars. This PS120 has the extra care and expertise. Same Wood, Same Neck, Same Tail-Piece. When I received it I let it acclimate for 3 days then plugged in and Wow!! Clear tones, great sustain and playability. The neck was a little wider than my American Les Paul and Stevensville MD PRS McCarty 408. It's been a couple of years so this is my review. Still totally impressed by this Ibanez.
Ibanez PS 120
I remember as a kid in the late 70"s how cool Paul Stanley looked playing one of these. I wanted one but wasn't willing to pay $3k for it. At just under $ this fits the bill. The build quality is better than I expected, this is a very solid guitar and very resonant. The Seymour Duncans on this guitar are fantastic, so much so that I'm seriously considering putting a Custom 5 in another one of my guitars. One thing to note that this guitar has a Okaume body w/ maple cap rather than mahogany as stated in the description. If anyone has any reservations about purchasing the guitar because of that, don't. As always Sweetwater provided excellent service ( Tyler Moore is the best!). I would have no reservations suggesting this guitar to anyone who wants a PS model.
A Disappointment
I was originally impressed by a smooth fretboard and sexy finish this axe is all hat n no cattle! Tuning became a major issue, neck wood is questionable. A real bummer...
