Graph Tech PQ-9276-C0 TUSQ 3-inch Compensated Acoustic Guitar Saddle Reviews

3.020" x 0.124" Fully Compensated Saddle for Acoustic Guitar

If you play acoustic guitar, you simply must hear what a Graph Tech TUSQ saddle can do for your tone. We're talking bell-like highs, expansive low end, rich harmonic overtones — the difference can sometimes be as dramatic as night and day. All from changing your saddle, you ask? Absolutely! You see, TUSQ nuts, saddles and bridge pins are highly efficient at transferring string vibrations to the guitar body, making your acoustic come alive. That's the reason top guitar makers use them. In fact, Sweetwater's Guitar Shop staff frequently installs TUSQ saddles on our own acoustics as well as our customers' guitars. And if you're looking for an increase in tone and performance, we highly recommend you consider one, too.

Yamaha A3M - Necessary upgrade to a great guitar

By Chris H. from MI

Very noticeable improvement to the sound of the guitar - My action preference is .08 on the low E String and .07 on the high E - so it took a while to sand it down for that action height (maybe 20min). The width was almost right on - took a little sanding. The length is over sized for the bridge slot - took some sanding (maybe 10min). Used 220grit paper. The TUSQ shape on the top of the saddle is different - watch the TUSQ installation video and keep checking your sanding to the original (I focused on the centerline height of the saddle [and "action slope") - hoping to keep the radius "true" to the original saddle) - intonation ended up being perfect -

The guitar had a good sound before - I use Elixir 11-52 polyweb - it sounds like a different guitar much brighter, greater note definition and enhanced sustain - just like the marketing suggests -

Also, purchased the Tusq "Presentation" (size) Bridge pins - enhanced the sound even more - when I opened the package and dropped it into a pin slot (without the string) - I thought it was not the right fit - I was wrong - It fits prefect - it just sits higher than the plastic pins (the guitar came with) -

Buyer Beware

By JT from Clearwater, FL
Music Background: Musician, Guiatr, Banjo and Violin. Home Luthier hobbiest.

Replaced my stock bridge with this on my Yamaha FG800. Yes required an hour of sanding etc. This made the otherwise warm and very nice sounding Acoustic sound like a tin can on the highs and washed out my low frequency E so badly it was almost mid range to the ear. Marketing and claims are not always spot on. Waste of money for me. Not happy.

It was a good purchase

By Gary P. from Mosier, OR

After reading that some guitar manufactures were using TUSQ saddles in place of bone on their guitars equipped with under saddle pickups I thought I would take a shot on a TUSQ saddle.

The guitar I installed it in has an after market LR Baggs Element pickup and it also has a Adirondack Spruce top. When plugged in the difference to my ears was a noticeable improvement. I would describe the change as both more balanced across all strings and a nice tone. I also think I hear less guitar pick noise when plugged in.

Unplugged the change is a little less noticeable.

Acoustic guitars have so many variables in the setup of what makes a particular guitar sound best. That is why I mentioned the pickup in my guitar and that it has a Adirondack Spruce top. For me this was a good purchase.
