PPA-200 experience

By Mike B. from Cleveland OH
Music Background: None

I decided to try and become a square dance caller and needed a sound system that I could practice with and if need be to use in a meeting hall on open mike dances. Rather pleased with the compact size and the performance. The output of the 200watt speakers was strong and clear enough to fill a good sized hall that I did in fact try it out in.The sound adjustments were more than adequate as is the microphone supplied. It's a complete system cables and all. Recommend a good buy.

Perfect for your smaller gig needs!

By Sweetwater Customer from KS

My friend and I run a trivia/ music entertainment business. We host a weekly gig at a local country bar. They do not have a dedicated sound system. The Europort allows us to control our sound effortlessly while we use an independent Bluetooth transmitter/ receiver to connect to several of the independent PA towers the bar owns. The board/ built in amp pushes hard. I recommend this as a staple for a small venue entertainer of any type!

Mandolin Amp

By Sweetwater Customer from Oregon

It is difficult to keep a mandolin from being harsh when using magnetic pickups. Amplifiers seem to enhance that harshness. This little PA has plenty of shaping ability and plenty of volume. I can get a nice even volume across all of the strings. Amplifiers with this many inputs are much more expensive. Also works very well with miking the mandolin as one is able to control feedback with speaker placement and EQ. I like it a lot.

Great product

By Ray C. from CLOVER, SC

I will admit this system has impressed me. I have never been much for Behringer. But this Pa system works great. We are using it now for rehearsal and sounds awesome. I did not think it would do this well. When I got it I was a little skeptical about its ability but it does great and the vocalist in the band is happy with this one. It is loud enough so the amps and drums do not over power it. I would recommend this product to any anyone that is going to do small area gigs.

Behringer is hard to beat

By Charles L. from HEIDELBERG, MS
Music Background: I am a musician and recording artist. I play guitar and record instrumental music

I needed a mixer to use for recording and live streaming. I needed it to be more like a PA system something with some back bone and able to push some heavy duty speakers, not necessarily big speakers but definitely robust. I looked at dozens of PA's . But the Behringer is the only one I came across, that had all the options I needed. All of the inputs and outputs along with mixing capabilities. I received it in a few days. I immediately put it to work. I was very impressed at how a smaller inexpensive system like this could produce such pristine sound quality. Not only that it's also powerful enough to do small to medium size gigs with. I give it 5 stars. The speakers: each have 2-4" woofers and 1-1' tweeter. And if you get one you will be surprised at how heavy duty they are. I was expecting them to be light weights. Not so. For their size they are the most heavy duty speakers I've ever seen. And yes that may add a little weight while carrying the system around. But I guarantee you it is well worth the effort. They pack a punch. Thanks for reading, Father Charles Music & Entertainment

Good but…..

By Rich

Let's get straight to it. The unit is capable, sound quality could be better but good for the price point. I have no real complaints over sound quality, does what it says it will do. The problem is all in the design. Behringer is not a new company and falling under the same umbrella as TC Electronics I expected better than I got. First the power cord is short, I mean really short if you put the mixer on a table the cord will not reach most outlets. You really don't want your mixer to be confined to 3 feet from an outlet. Second, the mixer is screwed into the travel case which does not sit flush on any flat surface which makes it incredibly unsafe and easily knocked off and damaged. It would be fine if they made it level but they didn't and this is truly a design flaw of the worst sort. I can't imagine the design sitting in testing saying man it doesn't wobble enough let's make it more unusable and dangerous. Third they attached the accessories pouch right in front of the speaker line outs. That's a pain in the butt and just plain lazy design. So final thoughts, spend the extra and get a better overall design or be prepared to be terribly annoyed with the functionality of this thing.

A general purpose system for meetings. Small music venues only.

By Jerry
Music Background: Professional

I purchased this for My HOA clubhouse who run meetings, bingo, and social affairs where a system like this is perfect. It sets up easily and it's lightweight with an integral compact storage case. The option of the wireless mic is great for those meetings when you're canvassing the room for members comments.
The feedback suppression works well, but the graphic eq can easily adjust the contour for the room you're in.
My ears tell me that this system will not fill a room larger than 50 square feet or a room with high ceilings. The speakers have more than adequate volume for clear voice and vocals but due to their narrow dispersal, the sound will get lost in a big room.
Recommend purchasing as a backup system for a duo or solo act for small venues. It may also be a great box for personal monitoring.

Not good for guitar

By Gregory T. from LUCEDALE, MS

Works good for voice and low acoustic guitar. When I plug in my majesty 170 with a pedal it has some unbearable speaker hum! Going to sell this and find something better.

amazing portable pa

By Kerry G. from IN
Music Background: professional musician

The Behringer PPA200 pa system has an excellent sound and very powerful for its size. I have been using another PPA200 system for several years now with a trio and we have had no problems with it at all. The 4 inch speakers put out a great sound, but, understandably, a little lacking on the bass end. For that, we have added 2 10" Behringer powered speakers through the line output and that fills it in nicely. The Clark-Technic reverb is very smooth and not hollow sounding like so many reverbs do. My only criticism of the new PPA 200 is that, unlike the older model, the top is not removeable, making it
extremely awkward to place on stage. Behringer should correct this problem for there is no reason the top should not be removeable. If it weren't for that, I would have given it 5 stars.

Small but powerful

By J. C. from Miami, FL
Music Background: Worship Leader, vocals, keyboard

This little system packs a punch in a medium-sized room. The sound quality was great for connecting 3 mics and a keyboard. I was amazed that it was able to handle the some of the deeper tones that come out of my keyboard. I used the booms on two mic stands to mount the speakers which worked out great. I also appreciate it being pretty lightweight and easy to transport. My only complaint would be that I wish I could detach the top cover when I have it laying on a table and that the storage bag was removable. Other than that, I think this was a great investment for my needs.

Good Unit for the right solution

By Peter S. from MA
Music Background: Almost 45 years of playing and doing sound

If you are getting this for a band PA or even for loud restaurants then I doubt you would be happy. I got this just to have a little more when playing acoustic and singing and also for the all in one solution with effects. I have a small PA but it is still a PITA with two 12" speakers and 8 channel amplified mixer etc.
The reverb is OUTSTANDING in this unit, really surprised. It does flub out when trying to push the bass on my acoustic but you can add a sub (kinda defeats the idea of a small package) but for the backyard or living room jams and even maybe a small coffee shop this should be fine. You have to find the optimum gain input with guitars and not expect too much from it, but for $ and a 5 minute setup this is going to be awesome at the beach house next week on vaca entertaining family and friends. Also great for practicing with the acoustic.

small and powerful, sounds great. Tho' it needs more xlr inputs

By Matt B. from Massachusetts
Music Background: 25 years of performance, gold record accomplishment

This is a great little pa system. We are a duo, Adela & Jude who play a lot of outdoor shows. We plan on using this with a power supply
and power draw was an issue - about 3 amps or so. Does a great job at what it's made for - clear vocals, nice effects built in and the
overall build quality is great.

It comes in a travel case to make it super portable, all cables are held in a compartment the speakers click into it on both sides.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that only 2 of the channels have xlr connectors. the rest are 1/4 and rca. If it had 4 lxrs
it would be getting 5 stars. The only thing that is a detraction, otherwise it's a great little unit for solo performers or duos.

Great little powerhouse -

By Matt B. from Massachusetts
Music Background: Pro touring musician with gold record credits

We just got our little PA - first - the sales engineer was great - had a couple tech questions since we are an acoustic but loud duo playing outdoor farmer's markets and such and will be driving this off a battery pack. He was helpful and followed up on my questions.

Got the unit very quickly and set it up yesterday - WOW, just WOW. I've worked with some pro audio systems, and this little beast is great - clear and powerful - in our rehearsal room right now - and love the clarity of the on-board FX.

The ONLY reason I don't give it 5 stars is that It would be great if it had an FX loop to be able to bring in other outboard gear. Have 4 channel of XLR would be nice too, but I see the cost factors in both of these.

No hesitation to recommend this.

Not for me

By Stekar from Texas
Music Background: Acoustical

It does have sound but the quality of sound for me is too crisp and sharp, thats
the only way I know how to describe it. It just grates and no amount of adjusting seems
to soften the sound quality. It is a very sensitive and loud system so if its noise
you want and crisp clarity go for it but it did not resonate with me. I kept fighting it.
Also the top is not removeable and so it looks strange and proves to be a nuisance
after a while. Not sure why exactly it was designed that way.

Best in class

By 12Stringer from Missouri
Music Background: Singer-Songwriter

First off, let's list the pros for this amazing little system:
1: Small size. The first PA system I ever had [45 years ago] only cranked out 60 watts into an 8-ohm load. The little box mixer and two speaker cabs weighed about three times what this weighs and took up about four-five times as much space.
2: I can use mic stands instead of heavier speaker stands to mount the speakers.
3: The sound is astounding. I have used these systems on parade floats and in gymnasium-sized rooms and got clear sound without having to push the amplifier to its limit.
4: If I need extra mic channels, I run a Xenyx 1002B through channels 4/5 for a stereo mix.
5: Three band EQ on each channel. Without naming names, most of the brands of PA systems in this class only offer two-band EQ and some only offer a single "tone" control [which basically amounts to a mid-range scoop].
6: Seven-band EQ in the master section. Again, without naming names, most of the brands of PA systems in this class offer no master EQ section.
7: FBQ feedback location circuitry.
And now for the drawbacks on why I cannot give it a perfect five-star rating:
A: No pan/balance controls on the channels. What's the point of having stereo signal output if one cannot pan the signals in the stereo field?
B: No subwoofer out.
C: The included speaker cables are too short. Although the included 12-foot cables are OK, 15-foot cables would be better.

Nice , compact, and light.

By Adirondack H. from upstate NY
Music Background: Rockin since the 60's

Hard to believe how loooong pa systems and tech have come since the 60's. Our band used to pack these large voice speaker stacks, amp ,mixer board, reverb/echo plex, etc, etc. into the van And the sound was just so so. Now, whatever your needs are, pa's are compact- and they sound great? Size out your venues and pick the Behringer unit that is right for you. Let your voice be heard!!! Rock On.

Perfect for vocalists/duos

By Tim S. from MD
Music Background: Keyboardist/song writer

We got this to serve as a portable solution for my wife to bring to jam sessions and connect her mic to sing. It works perfect for that. Small, light weight but still packs enough punch for her vocals to cut through when the other instruments are playing. It also has decent effects to add a little extra sheen and depth to your sound. The additional channels make it great for a duo/small group to run a guitar, keyboard, or electronic drum kit through. The onboard EQ helps dial the sound in further, and the Feedback Eliminator is a very useful feature as well. The mixer also has line outs to connect to either recording equipment or other powered speakers which is nice. There is also a headphone out which you could connect to a wireless in-ear monitoring system for even more flexibility.

The sound quality is actually quite good for its size. Each Speaker has 2 x 4" woofers and 1 x 1" tweeter which give a really broad and clean sound. The Mids and Highs sound superb! Lows are "OK" but given they are only 4" woofers, you cant expect much. If you are looking to get real low thumping bass, then you may want to consider getting a powered sub to connect to the line out, or possibly go with a portable PA with larger speakers. That's about the only negative I could find. If you are using it primarily on vocals in a small setting for jam settings or presentations, this little system is perfect! Overall, best bang for your buck!

Thanks Sweetwater and our sales engineer T.J. Bechill for the great service and candy!

Great Little Dynamo!

By David from NW Missouri
Music Background: Singer-Songwriter

Got one of these about six months ago when I decided to downsize my sound equipment for smaller rooms since it was just myself and my wife doing acoustic music at nursing homes with an occasional open mic night at our church's fellowship hall.
It's perfect. It has enough power to make oneself heard in a small gymnasium without sacrificing the quality of the sound. And packing is a snap.
The FBQ system is execellent at isolating and minimizing feedback automatically. The seven-band master EQ is great for helping smooth out the sound.
The only things which make it less than a perfect 5 stars are: (1) the fact that the included speaker cables are only 12 feet long; and (2) the ultralink wireless mics are only available in a handheld mic.
Longer cables would allow a user to space the speakers out for better dispersion of sound.
Having the ultralink wireless mics available in a headset mic would make the system more useful for people who want to use this system for leading exercise classes or for presentations.

Compact Powerhouse!!!

By Prakash W. from Sewanee, TN
Music Background: College Professor, Jazz Pianist, Composer

I work with a singer who uses this set up for our duo gigs and have always been impressed with the sound quality and volume that he gets out of it. I recently had to provide music, and MC for my mom's birthday party, and needed a PA system, so I figured that I would give this a shot, and was further impressed at how it handled a relatively large venue (room with about 80-100 people) with the just the two speakers it came with and my Roland KC 300 for back up. I had people asking me what I was using, and they were amazed that it filled up the space as well as it did. I even had a couple of people ask if I could turn down. Talk about someone who was proud of his equipment.

Bottom line if you are concerned about portability, saving space, and still having enough power to handle small to slightly large spaces, this is a wonderful option to consider.

The next thing that I'm going to try it out for; use as monitors for my trio on our next live gig, and I'm sure that it will be more than up to that task.

Great product!!!
