Overall, it's awesome, but beware the wireless.

By Steven S. from PERRYVILLE, KY

Been using my Pod Go for a couple of years now, and nearly everything about it has been amazing. UI makes sense, not having any software problems. That being said, beware the wireless. Mine stopped working about a week after the warranty was up, and I've never gotten it to work again. Couldn't get another wireless unit, since it was just out of warranty, so now I just own what is effectively the standard Pod Go and I'm $ poorer. My opinion is to save the $and get the normal version. If you really want wireless, put the $. Another thing to note is that even when the wireless is working, it uses 2.4 Ghz, and doesn't play nicely with Wi-Fi. TLDR: Pod Go is awesome, Pod Go Wireless isn't worth the price difference. Taking 1 star off for the wireless issues.

Great product

By Samuel R. from CIDRA, PR

Overall the POD GO is an amazing buy for anyone who doesn't need a complicated rig. I use it for church all the time and it is more than enough.

Don't buy the wireless version, if there is WiFi close it won't work

Amazing piece of kit even in 2024

By Sweetwater Customer

Absolutely love the Pod Go Wireless. Great Helix tones at a fraction of the size and price. For those of us who don't need the all the features of the full Helix LT/Floor the Pod Go is a solid choice. All the great tones in a simple to use straight forward compact package. It's all you need to gig or practice with. I use it when recording straight to Logic, practicing with headphones, or hooking up to FOH for worship, this unit for me is a no brainer if you want to get into the Line 6 ecosystem but need a complete package without the bulk of the full Helix.

Update from 1 year later...

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: Seasoned musician (retired)

I previously groused about the wireless plugs being physically incompatible with ANY of my Ibanez guitars - the wireless dongle won't fit. Kinda would think a big company would take that into consideration, but no. There is no adapter that I have been able to find... but then, why should I have to? Ibanez does have a significant market share of the guitar/bass world. Well, about 6 months ago I noticed that the wireless stopped working altogether. And I have also noticed their tuner is pretty poor, especially if you are tuning bass or drop-D on a guitar. The indicator sits in the same spot (just below the center-point displaying a "D"). Maybe this puts it in context: my Snark tuner works better and is more reliable. Hard to get behind a brand with this unit - 3 obvious failures - oh, and too bad so sad, you can't return it. Tones, ease of operation, construction - all good - but too many failures to trust this one.

Over all is ok... with Good sounds

By Phil

I know "Good sounds" what more could you want! The wireless drops out a little more than I want it to; even when standing close to the unit. I have reset the channel and it is solid for a good bit, then I start getting cut out again. I can cable down, but the spot where you charge the wireless and plug in a cable are the same port! WHY!!!! I would love to charge unit during practice while plugged in then use wireless for the show. Secondly, you can use this without a DI, but I have to turn my master volume down -40db on the unit with again on console set at -10. Set up was pretty easy and connecting it was easy as well. I was up and playing and programming custom sounds pretty quickly. If I was buying again, I would, I just wanted spend the extra on the wireless at this point and buy a little more stable wireless unit (which it probably what I'm going to add to this one and stop using the built in transmitter). I would also suggest buying a good DI with a pad on it (I like and use the Rolls Matchbox DB25).

BTW- I am using this currently as a bass rig.

By Dave from Texas
Music Background: 30yrs a hobby

Love the Wireless aspect and the portability of the Pod Go. This unit is super easy to use and configure settings.
….but over all I am not happy with the sound quality. Reviewers have said it is has great quality ..but to me it sounds "muddy" and when playing thru the headphones the sound quality is good at first selection but fades after about two minutes of playing. I have sent my unit in to line6 to address this issue but it was not resolved. Think I'll spend the money and go for a Helix

Pod Go Worship Rig

By Kevin C. from Ohio
Music Background: 52+ years Pro and Worship

So... the Helix family--I really don't know much--very experienced player--raised a family and restarted playing in public 40 years later at church (me and Bar's in general lead to way to much trouble than worth--no interest--but my Church Bro's brought me in!) and I needed a FOH freindly rig. So D26 of the presets is my tone-- so I would appreciate if you all would just delete it cuase it's kind of awesome and I use it every week I play and well... it's kind of mine so! OK if your worshiping I will allow it! Looking forward to deep diving into the potential here--Steep learning curve I have no time for but still looking forward to it! Line 6 -- I'm your's but I may not know any better-- I play for HOURS just listening to your preset tones! Check with Helix dudes and Helix lite before you buy--BUT I freaking LOVE this machine!

Nice - but RELAY G10TII does not fit in Ibanez instruments

By BC from MN
Music Background: Seasoned musician

I didn't buy the unit exclusively for the wireless feature, but thought it might be useful once and a while. Maybe I missed it where it was stated that this transmitter does not fit Ibanez gear (if it is, someone please let me know - then it's my bad). So half my guitars and basses cannot take advantage of this wireless functionality. The work around is either to add a short extension and hook it up to your strap (or let it dangle) or use another type of adapter. I tried the Hosa GPP-273 1/4" TRS to 1/4" TRS Right Angle Adaptor and while functional, it's awkward. When using the wireless on a Fender strat, the signal, tracking and latency were all fine. But you cannot turn your back on the unit or it drops out. Also - and this is explicitly stated - if you use it too close to a router it may have issues. Of course, my router is in very close proximity. The sounds are good, although I find the user presets more useful than most of the stock presets. Programming is pretty easy on the unit, and way easy with the GO edit. The limited number of effects you can line up is, well, limiting, but most players have other effects that can be added via FX Loop or in the chain. Overall I like it - it's a nice unit but the oversight on the transmitter is really hard to understand.

Near Perfect

By Michael C. from Wixom, MI

Just got it today and have been running it through the paces. Amazing tones right out of the box. Great connectivity. Actually easier to use than one would expect via the amp of the onboard controls.

Only fault....
Should have a separate volume dial for usb in and effects processor. Kind of a pain to balance the two sending them to my near field monitiors.

Some people are new...

By Sweetwater Customer

When you are making a product with this many features and options, include a PRINTED manual! The trend of online documentation only is stupid. Companies could print and include manuals for less than a dollar per unit based on the number they are likely to print. It's maddening to have to sit in front of a computer and go back and forth from the screen to the pedal 150 times to accomplish simple tasks. Also, even in the pdf guides there is so much NOT covered, it makes the learning curve more like a brick wall. For some people (like me) this is their first foray into amp models and cab simulators, and all the deep editing capabilities of a product like this. If it were not for Facebook groups and online forums, I would have sent this back the first week. I learn something new that is not covered in the pdf's almost daily. I have now had mine for about 2 months and still would not consider taking it to a gig, practice, or jam. I'm still working with it but it's a hard slog.

User Friendly

By Andy from Shenandoah Valley, VA
Music Background: Local Bar Band Rhythm Guitarist.

Amp, Cab & sound effects are only as good as the user interface that allows the guitar player to take advantage of them. The Line6 interface is so easy to use, it's scary. I've had a Boss GT-6 for years. The sound is good, but setting up new patches took time and effort. Not so with the Line6 POD GO. Changes on the fly are easy and quickly memorized by the software. Add the wireless feature and you literally need nothing else to get whatever sound you want. 100% satisfied with this product.

Good unit, bad wireless

By Rob D. from Louisville, KY

If you want an affordable alternative to Helix or Headrush - this is it. Its still a bit complicated to operate if you're into tweaking your sounds and you're used to stomp pedals. I'd put the extra $100 the wireless costs toward a good wireless. This one cuts out only 10 feet away. And don't get it near any other wireless units or the sound board!

Too many issues

By Sweetwater Customer

I got this as I needed something that I could use to make ambiant sounds for my modern church group. It does this very well and I found myself loving the amps and impulse responses as well. My first one arrived and worked fine but had something rattling around inside the unit. And I noticed it kind of cut out sometimes. Sweetwater made it good right away and sent me a new unit. The new one lives in its padded case and still has the protective cover over the screen.i take good care of my gear. Long story short the wireless let me down at a gig. No charging light on battery indicator and no output. That is two too many issues for me to consider reliable and I have been without a rig for over two weeks now. I'm sure sweetwater will fix or replace my unit but how long will I be without it? I know I can't count on it at a gig. Disappointing to say the least.

Good unit, worthless wireless

By Thomas D. from Carmel, IN

I really do like the effects, the (somewhat clunky) foot switches, and the great size and easy setup. However…

The wireless unit is utter garbage. Had issues with it dropping out since day one (about 6 months ago). Sometimes just a blip, something's a couple seconds, sudden silences. Different venues, different guitars, same issues. Last night a full 5 second drop out during a song.

The wireless also seems to "sleep" if inactive for a minute or so, and takes a couple seconds of playing to "wake up".

Researching online, found this is a COMMON ISSUE. Simply not acceptable. The regular Pod Go is fine, but the $ more expensive Pod Go Wireless is below the Sweetwater quality level. Do better.

Great alternative to Helix

By Michael K. from Friendship, TN
Music Background: Home Hobbyist

PRO's:
Great tones, PLENTY of options for the home user and small gigs. Has great sounds like the big boy Helix. It's lightweight and solid construction. The software and even the flow of buttons, switch assignments are very intuitive and user friendly. Lots of custom IR's available too. Affordable comparable alternative to the Helix line up. It's still supported and gets firmware updates.

Con's:
No guard for rotary knobs near the top row of footswitches, be cautious with those stomps. Limited number of free effects blocks & some blocks are fixed blocks, yea I know DSP is limited. Wireless can be glitchy. I mean wireless is why I purchased the "wireless" POD, grrr. No dedicated headphone volume control. I'm not a fan of the long wireless Tx, be careful with that as well.

Overall I'll keep it and recommend it for hobbyists.

Could be much better

By Dennis A. from Williams, Arizona
Music Background: Working musician over 50 years

The sounds are good. I use it direct into my mixer for live gigs as a single with tracks. The transmitter has gone out for the second time. I like to walk out front to entertain my audience with my guitar. The transmitter does not work well for this. The adapter is very poorly designed. The wires have already started to fray where they connect to the adapter. I'm now trying to figure out what to do to prevent the connection from eventually failing. I really don't like that I can't switch amp channels easily from clean to lead. The display got dust on it (I play outside often). When I gently wiped it with a paper towel, the dust scratched it very badly. It is obviously made of very cheap, soft plastic. I wish that I would have purchased the Boss GX 100 instead. And then purchased a separate, but better wireless unit to go with it. I'm sticking with Boss products from here on. They've never let me down.

A Great Point of Entry Into Modeling

By Sweetwater Customer from Wichita, KS

I've had my Pod Go a couple weeks now and I am very pleased with it. It is streamlined in a brilliant way. It can't do everything it's bigger siblings and cousins do and I love it for that reason. I've tried different high end modelers in the past and the over abundance of options and ensuing menu diving left me feeling paralyzed. The restrictions the Pod has gave me room to be comfortable enough to actually build my own patches and get to know the unit. And the result is that I'm far happier with my sound than I ever was with the far more expensive unit I tried in the past. It's also given me the confidence that if I decide I need more processing power/routing options that I can make one of the more robust modelers work for me. In a sense the Pod Go is sort of like training wheels but that does not mean its entry level. It sounds fantastic and feels solid. And honestly is all I'll probably ever need. The only thing I personally am missing right now is being able to run two IR's, but that can easily be worked around if I stop being lazy and go mix two IR's into one. Big thanks to my Sweetwater rep Colton for the recommendation!

Sounds Great, Wireless Sucks

By Thomas D. from Carmel, IN
Music Background: Been playing live for 30+ years.

While it's a complicated unit, the sounds are worth it. Until...

The wireless is worthless. I've had several-second dropouts at rehearsals, does additional "resets", still happens. Live, did an additional "plug it into the "guitar in" and let is select the optimal channel. failed again. Thought it was a blip. Happened at the next show. Scrambled for a cord. Wish I't bought the one without wireless. Not acceptable. Cute marketing thing, but you can't depend on it.

I love this pedal!

By Juan from Wheaton Bible Church
Music Background: Music teacher, producer and video director

I already own a big pedalboard, with all the dream guitar pedals. But since I'm a new dad. I was looking for something smaller, carrying a baby with you isn't easy lol. So I decided to try Pod Go, and I'm so impressed of this pedal. As a professional musician, I do recommend this product.

Only one issue

By Michael E. from NORMAN, OK

If you have the neutek locking jack on your guitar you will have issues with the wireless not keeping good connection. Other than that it's a great piece of gear. I have created some awesome bass tones with it, and for being someone with no experience with modeling, or irs it is super easy to use. I was right on my way in minutes to creating a preset, as soon as I got the software downloaded. It's almost as easy to do it from the pedal its self and if you need to change something on the fly it's super easy.

It wants so badly to be a Helix, but falls short.... very short

By Christopher S. from RICHMOND, VA
Music Background: Guitaring for many moons with no plan to stop anytime soon.

YouTube has hyped this piece of kit up to be a "Helix for a third of the price", and knowing better, I decided to try it out. Ultimately I'm glad I did, because it does sound pretty great, and so it opened my eyes to the advancement of digital technology and how far it has come since before Helix, AxeFx, Kemperand the rest, when for all that time it basically sucked and there just wasn't a more accurate way to describe it because if it sucks its the bottom of the barrel and there just isn't any further down than that.

Anyway. So I got this and it has the "same" Amp models and effects as Helix, and they are far better than mediocre without a doubt, but that is where the similarities end. Which should not have surprised me and I guess didn't really. It is crazy to assume that a $ unit will hold a candle to a $ unit, and if it did, then I would say the folks who made it are idiots. The DSP in the POD Go just couldn't hang with what I was trying to do with it, and then there was the issue of connectivity as well. I needed more, not everyone needs more, and the Podgorica has quite a bit, bit I needed more. So... I returned it while I could and went ahead and purchased a Helix floor, and I could not be happier with the result!! Even the models sound better on the Helix, and that is just the truth. You also don't have blocks that are taken up with EQs and the like which cannot be swapped for other effects or removed from the chain all together.

Long story short, it's okay. But if you find yourself wanting more and you can swing it, GET YOURSELF A HELIX and it will deliver, and keep delivering. I'm still learning new stuff I can do with it.

PodGo wireless, Noob perspective: good kit, steeper learning curve, but a great tool to learn guitar

By Readmeray from Indiana/Idaho
Music Background: just starting up the learning curve in my 50's amidst pandemic, loving it.

Many appreciate PODGO after years of playing with amps and pedals. I'm an acoustic player that's recently added an electric and wanted to forego complexity and clutter of amps, and mostly play for my own enjoyment. I started with a Positive Grid Spark practice amp that was a great first step and started me up the learning curve of tone shaping. In my case I don't play out, I simply wanted to study guitar tone shaping more broadly and efficiently. The arsenal of amps/pedals/adjustments bordered on overwhelming me reading adverts and watching youtubes. But I slowly started up the learning curve, the youtubes demystified signal chains and their construction and I went for it. I'm a few weeks in. It's serious, pro audio kit here. Some complain elsewhere the factory presets aren't good. But I've learned no preset can work miracles--they require some flipping through and tuning to your kit/room. It's been a great learning experience just doing that much. And every few tones I realize a song that matches it and get a fun diversion looking it up (on Chordify.com!) and jamming along with it. Unbelievably to me, I've even made a few of my own pre-sets and purchased some 3rd party IR's that I'm now using for my acoustic practice as well as my electric. The wireless: it works and works very well most of the time. But my input for the noob is to plug in only until you're on your feet, as it adds a layer of debug (so far nothing for me that rebooting podgo and the wireless transmitter doesn't fix fast). One key concept I'd stress for other noobs is that PODGO can serve as an audio interface to your computer via the included USB cable. Podgo on the floor, Podgo edit on a screen in front of me as I find that much easier, headphones plugged into podgo -- great practice setup. The manual does NOT cover one very key use case--playing to backing tracks from your computer with this practice rigging. The key concept--you need to control volume of the backing tracks vs guitar on podgo. Find the global settings on the device (this is not in the edit software) and adjust the "USB 1/2" level to match what you're doing with volume on the guitar. Must sometimes be done between songs as youtube levels vary quite a bit. All in all, I'm quite well pleased with the quality of the kit and the value I received. And too, I know there's a community that really believes in Line6 and lots to learn from public forums and the specialized tonesmiths that want to sell additional patches and IR's.

Nice sounds, Good features, but a few technical bugs

By Steve from Diamondhead Ms

The sounds are quite good…amp models, effects…there's plenty to choose from and several of them sound really nice. It's also pretty easy to use…had it up and running in no time which is great! There are a couple problems with mine that I assume might be inherent to this unit though. 1) The wireless has an extremely short range, mine often cuts out at 10 or 15 feet which kinda makes it useless…I'm back to using a cable…oh well. 2) If exposed to sunlight for more than a few minutes the unit seems to heat up too much and the sound cuts off until you can cool it back down. I first noticed this on a festival gig in Denver a few months ago and again recently in New Orleans . If used indoors or at night and with a cable it seems to be just fine.

Extremely convenient

By Eric from NJ
Music Background: Wedding Musician

I hope that this becomes the standard for these effects boards. Honestly the functionality of having the wireless unit built in is worth its weight in gold and it sounds really good. Something that I love about this wireless unit is that it actually works with my active pickup without an extra adapter. I had the first generation G10 and I always had to have this annoying 1/4 adapter coming out of my guitar. Whatever they did, fixed that its really nice.

As far as the unit without the wireless, I think it sounds pretty good however there's a definite tone-suck compared with the helix which I owned a while back. The other thing is the ac adapter thing is flimsy compared with the ac adapter. I honestly don't really use the amp modelers and really only use the effects and it sucks that I have to waste a block on that. If line6 is listening I really hope they make a HX Effect with wireless and pedal built in.

However all in all this definitely is useful and I don't do a gig without it.

This review is for the Pod Go Wireless

By Tom M. from Wentsville, MO
Music Background: Four decades of playing guitar.

If my review was for the Pod go without wireless, it would easily be 5 stars. This pedal is well sorted and easy to learn and it sounds AMAZING. I've never owned a high end multi-effects like the Helix. I've always invested in discrete pedals and a big heavy pedal board. However, I'm not as young as I used to be and I've gotten tired of lugging that big board and a tube amp with me to every gig (or church for that mater). The Pod Go meets all my needs. I can set it up to use like a board of discrete pedals or use snapshots or use a bunch or presets. I created my own presets from scratch in about three hours. I have been able to not just emulate my sound but improve on it. And, there are so many more sounds to play with I will probably never mess with all of them.

I could go on and on about how great this pedal is, so why didn't I give it 5 stars? Well, the wireless aspect is not quite ready for primetime. It works and I like some of the features. For instance, when you plug it in for the first time in a new venue, it scans all the RF bands and finds it's own sweet spot before connecting. If you have it fully charged, it will go at least 5 hours before it shows signs of giving up the ghost. But, it's a pain to charge. You have to plug it into the instrument input on the Pod Go to charge it and the pedal needs to be turned on. So you can't charge it while playing. You also can't leave it plugged into the instrument input for days at a time. Once it finishes charging, it immediately starts draining and you will come back to a completely dead transmitter. So you have to charge it while you're not using the pedal and then remember to take it off the charger/input jack and put it in the handy dandy storage slot. If Line 6 can tweak this aspect a little bit and of course not have them catch on fire, they will have a grand slam on their hands.

I want everyone to know what they are getting into with the wireless, but I can't complain too much. I'm using it and enjoying it and I expect to be using this pedal a lot for years to come.

Cool...but

By Rich S. from Leesburg Va
Music Background: Hobbyist 25 years

I've been looking at the PG for some time. It has great reviews, and seems like you can emulate just about any sound you need. It can be used as a pre amp into a regular amp, or it can be plugged directly into a powered speaker or PA system. Depending on how you use it there are different settings to consider. If using with an amp, then you will likely be by passing the amp and cab selections in the PG and just using the effects. If using the other options, you need to select an amp and cab, and this is where you really get into the meat and potatoes of all the tone possibilities. 100s to choose from. It's like eating at the Cheese Cake factory. If you can find something you like your an idiot, because the menu is huge

Wow, just Wow.

By Richard T. from Pen Argyl, PA
Music Background: Drums, guitar, bass and keyboards.

I've had my share of modelers and love my Boss Katana MK2, but was looking for something with more control on the floor, can be used with either my guitar or bass, and wasn't a monster to carry. This checks all the boxes.

As for sounds, the out of the box presets had many useable as-is. I will fine tune, but many were very close to what I was looking for. I can easily find the top 20 or so and move from the factory folder to the user folder.

What I like about this setup is to quickly get to a decent preset, then hit the Mode switch and go to stomp box mode.

The wireless transmitter was charged when I got it and worked perfect.

Helix Jr.

By Carl J. from Chichester N.Y.
Music Background: Bands and home studio

This pod Go is a great backup for my Helix and grab and go unit. It certainly isn't a Helix with all the same features but it has everything I need to play and gig with. Yes it has limitations but I can work around them with my presets and snapshots. This pod Go really sounds exactly like my Helix which is wonderful for me. The sound and feel are fantastic for me. A great tool for my arsenal of tone. The wireless feature is just a lot of fun and convenience for me. Highly recommended.
