Best of them all

By Brandon Ixchop from Redesa, CA on April 18, 2024

So I was really unsure about which guitar I wanted but I came across with the jem. I put my order down but was let down that the jem was in a back order status which I didn't know when would I receive it but one of the teach at sweet water told me that they had the pi that someone had to cancel their order due to some money problems which gave me an opportunity to change my order and actually get the pi, fast forward to now I been with my pi for almost 2 years and I don't regret buying it. Best guitar I ever spent money on, I been loving my guitar ever since !! I currently own the Jem jr and the pi but over all my pi is favorite one

Stunning, searing, and smooth as butter!

I've owned many Ibanez Jem guitars, and I also have an Ibanez PIA in Stallion White which I got before this one was announced and released. This guitar, hands down, is the smoothest of the lot under my fingers as I play. Either standing or sitting down the guitar's feel under my hands doesn't change, and I'm just as comfortable with either position.

I can play leads, rhythms, whatever I want. The guitar handles anything I throw at it beautifully.

I have only two minor issues. But both can be easily remedied by visiting a local guitar repair shop and asking for a little TLC once over.

One, the volume knob comes with a dead zone before it suddenly goes from 0 to about what I'd consider a 2 or three on the volume scale for other guitars. The white model had this issue as well. Instead of a smooth crescendo for volume swells, you get a bit of a jerky 0 to 2 or 0 to 3 on the volume scale jump before a swell to full volume can be done. Again, easily fixed by taking it to a local guitar repair shop and asking for a little TLC of the electronics.

Two, the tremolo arm is a tiny bit wiggly. But it doesn't really seem to negatively affect my playing or control over it any so it's just a little nit pick I noticed but otherwise have no major problem with.

Aside from these two minor issues the guitar functions perfectly, plays beautifully, and feels so good to play that it's utterly addicting. I cannot practice without using this guitar for at least a handful of exercises/songs before I stop for the night.

Just wow...

This was ordered as a back-up/upgrade for a well-loved Sparkle Blue Jem. In a nutshell, they took my favorite guitar and added a few (or more) dashes of amazing. It was playable right out of the box, taking only a few tweaks for preferences.
The main things to me are: It came standard with stainless frets. Utopia pickups are great and provide more punch than Evos. It feels a little more substantial/comfortable to play than the Jem (which also has stainless frets). And it really is a piece of art, to the point of distraction... soothing, mesmerizing distraction.
The only drawbacks are: 1.) the wait on backorder 2.) having to pepper spray others to get it back and 3.) emotional me feels like I'm cheating on my original Jem.

Yes sir!

This guitar is absolutely incredible right out of the box. Was the first guitar I ever had shipped that was actually in tune when it arrived. The low E was off a bit, but yes. Can't find a thing wrong with it, Neck is flawless, petals are pretty smooth inside (unlike some have stated)& the pickups sound amazing! Pictures don't do this thing justice. After a year & a half wait! I can honestly say this guitar is going to be with me till I'm dead. It plays so smooth & the SS frets are amazing. There's just something incredibly magical about this guitar. It definitely sparks creativity I don't get on my other ones. You can play any & every type of music on it & it delivers no problem. The pull volume pot is a nice touch for sure. Brightens up when you turn the volume down for some really incredible sounds. The sustain/harmonics you can find anywhere on the neck & most of all it's freaking beautiful! Absolutely in love with it at the moment. Can't wait to record some tracks. I feel sorry for you if you were thinking about it & didn't get one.

Best electric guitar I’ve ever played

By Sweetwater Customer on November 29, 2021

This is the best electric guitar I have ever played. Hands down.

If you take stock on what has been done on this guitar you will find that everything ranging from neck feel, width, guitar balance, overall sustain, the trem feel and precision and the multitude of pickup selector options have been thoroughly engineered and revised to what this guitar is. It's a performing predator capable of exploring shades of color that only become possible when you feel inspired by how your instrument feels and sounds.

And it's a darn fine looking guitar as well.

I've played a variety of top shelf electrics. This guitar, from the standpoint of playability and the precision you can command with the neck surpasses every guitar I own, some at multiples of the cost of the Pia.

My first Ibanez. Wow. Very nicely done and absolutely worth the price if you don't want to spend the time and money to do this work yourself through setups and mods, etc.

My only gripe: when the ultra light weight trem bar sits in place there is a very small amount of wiggle which does not affect playing accuracy but is annoying.
