This may be all you need for the casual home player.
I don't always have a lot of time to practice/play but this little amp definitely makes it more enjoyable to jam around with and a big help to improve my improvisation skills.
Furthermore, I don't have to be confined to a specific room in the house ( indoor or outdoor).
Despite its small size, it has plenty of volume.
I personally enjoy the Bluetooth when learning a new song or checking out a guitar lesson on YouTube, your not just restricted to the app tracks.
I think the Steve Vai version was worth the few extra bucks for the features, retro looking design and cable.

This little gem of an amp is awesome for both practice and lessons. No more hauling around all those extra pounds. Your entire setup can ride in the front passenger seat of your car or be carried easily on a walk to the park or to that downtown alley that has that perfect echo. Plus, being battery powered means taking your practice absolutely anywhere, including the back 40. The cows do not care if you make a mistake or hit an off note or two. Unlike neighbors or roommates, they do not complain. Toss it into your backpack, and you could actually play while you hike. Practice away! Anywhere! Just wish I had gotten myself one of these sooner. Cannot recommend it enough. Oh, and it looks nice too. Happy camper.

I bought this on a whim during Black Friday. I have a truckload of killer gear to play through like Bogner and Friedman amps, Axe-Fx, and others. I was looking for something portable and easy to dial in when I want to sit out on the porch,or quickly work out a song.

I am very impressed with what this little box can pull of. Will it cure me from wanting to crank up wicked tube amps? Definitely not. Will it give you a wide variety of cool tones for some chill jamming? Absolutely! The tone is quite good for a 2" speaker and all digital modeling. It looks cool, weighs next to nothing, and has excellent battery run time.

For $,I feel like it was a steal for what it can provide.

This little amp sounds terrific right out of the box with the Steve Vai presets loaded onto it factory. After I downloaded the app and starting diving into the all the different presets on the app, I realized this little amp was going to be my go to portable rig. It has all the effect and amp models you could possibly want out of something in this price range and it sounds good enough to enjoy hours of listening to yourself practice through. The Steve Vai appointments are a nice touch to an already great product, so I recommend this to anyone wanting a new practice amp with a ton of options to tweak tones.

I'm really liking this amp. Originally just for practice but now that I've had some time with it I'm thinking about taking it with me to some jam sessions and plugging it into the PA and see what happens. I did order their foot controller for the purpose of being able to change settings while I'm playing, but that's not here yet. It seems to do clean really well as well as distorted and everything in between and I find nearly all the effects to be quite usable. Only tiny criticism I have is it would be nice to have an indicator in the app telling you how much charge is left on the battery but so far that's the only suggestion I would have for improvement. From what I've read the mini Vai is exactly like the regular mini. The only difference being the four hardware presets were supposedly inspired by Steve Vai. Also, the color and the grill cloth are different, which is really why I bought the mini Vai. I just thought it looked cool.

I played at a hospital and need to be able to move around with a variety of amplifications - cafeteria, lobby, patient rooms etc. I have gone through several small portable amps. But this baby does it all. The bass speaker in the bottom is cool. Presets great. High quality sound for the price.

Got this for my granddaughter's 16th birthday, and she absolutely loves it! It might be small, but the sound is mighty and amazing! Easy to see why Steve Vai loves (and endorses) it! Thank you, Sweetwater!

Haven't really tried to utilize the app features yet but I did a few . I can't believe what it sounds like on very low volume . Hate headphones and never could get any other amp this low enough in volume due to other people in the house . It also gets loud enough when no one is around . And it's battery powered !

I just got this while on sale and a 'demo' at that so it was a decent purchase at right around 200. I got this to be a bedroom amp and it didn't disappoint as it sounds great at the low volume levels that I need to use. First the thing that I didn't like - the included instrument cable as it's basically junk and I'd rather see it left out and the overall purchase price lowered. I can't say I needed the carry strap either, although it is made of high-grade leather. The thing that is just OK is the App. I thought it lacked class that the app included some 'beta testing' features and is also a way to push sales of add-on content. I don't really plan to use the app much as I got this for the 4 built in presets though. The best thing about the app is that I was able to verify that the firmware was up to date. Things I love - the look (Steve Vai), an on/off switch (I have a similar size amp that powers off/on by plugging in the instrument cable and I hate it). I really love the rechargeable battery as it was exactly what I needed as power outlets are in short supply where the amp is. I really haven't used many other the features such as the tuner because it relies on the app or the Bluetooth, although I think adding the bluetooth is nice to have around and I may use it in the future. I like the overall quality as the speakers seem quite usable and the overall construction is A1. Overall I give this a recommended 'buy' although paying full regular price is something I would have skipped on.

Almost does it all. I had a Bradshaw rig on the road, and this is getting mighty close. If you've got the will to program it, you could probably easily get a whole concert's worth of presets in the 4 "hardwares" available that you could run from the little footswitch panel, and carry your whole rig around in a cute little shopping bag, even if you DO forget your phone, which I always forget 'cause I'm old (smile). It looks super cool, too. Really! I had to replace the Vai presets right away, but that was expected, and I don't think we're likely to see the Steve Cropper version right away. (smile) The loudspeaker and other technologies are quite admirable, and will no doubt improve.

If you are looking for a portable, battery powered practice amplifier, buy this one. If you're looking for a good Bluetooth speaker, buy this one. If you are NOT looking for either of those things but you're a Steve Vai fan and a musician, BUY THIS. You won't regret it. Vai's pre-programmed presets are awesome! The look, feel and sound quality is hard to believe. If you are reading this, I assume you are at least vaguely interested in it. It has my personal guarantee. This is the one you want. Buy it.

Its easy to understand why Vai has a few of these sitting around to jam with. It sounds great, looks awesome, and the app interface is easy and fun. I purchased this for when the fam and I are camping/short weekend trips but I find it's all I'm playing through most of the time.

I'm an old dude. This satisfies my use with an electric and reso thru headphones or no phones. Would recommend.

Easy to use, fun and very wide array of tones and gets loud.

First off, this is the most aesthetically pleasing piece of technology that I've had the pleasure of owning. The warm burgundy color and golden-hued mandala on the grill makes a great eye-catching shelf piece.

It's diminutive size does not betray the surprisingly loud amount of sound that it is able to produce easily. There is a satisfying amount of low frequencies present, and the overall sound is balanced, leaning on the bright side a bit. I notice that the soft rubber feet seem designed to take advantage vibration transfer, so you'll likely maximize sound quality by placing the amp on a resonant surface like a bookshelf or table.

The four default tone choices sound exceptional, and are really fun to use. Each one is a unique amp and effects configuration, in graded levels from clean to full lead distortion. When used with the companion app, each setting is easily customizable and can be saved, with a full array of amps and effects to play with and fine tune your desired sound. There is an additional set of tones available for purchase, but not necessary to the general functioning of the amp.

As a Steve Vai fan, this is a very satisfying piece of gear. Comes with a small leather strap for easy hand carry, and a matching premium instrument cable with gold-plated plugs.

Looking forward to making use of the other available features later on. Really loving what I see and hear so far!
