Shure PGADRUMKIT7 7-piece Drum Microphone Kit
Shure PGADRUMKIT7 7-piece Drum Microphone Kit Reviews
Miking up a drum set can be a daunting task, but Shure makes it easy with the PGA Drum Kit 7. The Shure PGA52 handles the low-frequency sound of your kick drum like a champ. Tackle your toms and other high-impact sources with the Shure PGA56. The Shure PGA57 easily captures the loud, harmonically sound of your snare drum. With a pair of Shure PGA81s as overheads, you'll create a realistic 3-dimensional sonic picture of your drum kit. Complete with mic clips and drum mounts, cables, and a carrying case, the Shure PGA Drum Kit 7 is a great set of drum mics!
Cymbal mics completely died
Everything was going great until the cymbal mics completely died
Over all Impressed
I know these aren't the top of the line drum mic's. But I've been very satisfied with their performance. They do what they are suppose to do. To me that means good levels over all. Decent isolation, and a pretty true sound. I use them for recording band practice and live performances. I do use a SM57 on the snare top and a AKG D112 on the front kick. But over all I would defiantly recommend these mic's.
Those clips…::
The mics are great. The 3 clips that attach to the rim of the drum, supposedly, are junk. I looked up how to properly mount the clip and then proceeded to break two of the three clips barely using any pressure…..
Awesome
Great mics for road gear
Shure PGADrumkit7
Great affordable kit. Perfect for a basic home recording setup.
Pretty good for the price
I have a 7 piece which the PGADRUMKIT7 covered mostly.
The 8, 10 and 12 inch toms got the 3 PGA 56's.
I put the PGA 52 and a second one I ordered on both floor toms 14 and 16 inch. The PGA 52 isn't a great bass mic, but does very well with deeper toms.
For bass the industry standard is the Beta 52, so ordered one of those for bass. It really is the best.
Snare mic is okay, probably end up switching to an SM57 someday. That will be the only replacement. All else was add-ons.
PGA 81's are condensers (phantom power needed), and are SUPER sensitive and versatile. In small venues/stages watch for feedback.
Shure PGA Drum Mic Kit 7 Works awesome
I purchased this set for a home studio. They each work very well for what I'm doing, recording drums and such. They are clear and do sound fantastic! I would say the bass drum mic could be a tad better. But it does the Job perfectly! Even purchased 3 more separately. Do to having more toms then normal. I do think Shure should release a PGA 10pc kit. Adding a few extra tom mics for those who have a bigger set then the normal 5/6 piece. Other then that they work well! I recommend them!
A sweet Shure 7-piece Drum Microphone Package
I have been using these for a while on my DW Drum Set and they are fantastic.
Thanks Devin Cunningham great job:)
I love this mic kit
This was exactly what I needed! The kit includes 7 mics, 7 cables, clips and the carrying case. I hooked it all up and was really happy with the quality of the mics and sound. You can't go wrong with Sure mics - these mics are well built, versatile and captured the drum kit perfectly. My only complaint is that the mic cables that came with it were a little shorter than what I needed. Great product at a good price.
Meh
You might be better off piecing together a microphone kit yourself. Pretty much all of these mics have cheap equivalents that sounds way better.
Overheads: Rode M5s sound way better than the overheads included in this kit.
Snare: SM57 sounds much better than the included snare mic.
Tom: These kit mics sound alright on the rack tom but the floor tom has too much bass that CANNOT be captured by these dinky things. I threw an SM57 on the floor tom and this was the biggest night and day difference overall.
It's a good kit to get you started but knowing what I know now, I will likely sell them for some other entry level mics that will likely outperform these.
Excellent! Great service, quick delivery!
Best customer service from anyone I've dealt with in any sales or otherwise. Quality product, quality people!
Shure Drum Mics
Did a great job!
I needed something within budget that would do a good job at a live event. This kit did the job well. They are built solid and will take a beating, but of course I don't suggest beating them to test, lol. But they has a good solid clean sound that I was looking for without much EQ. These should also do a great job indoors or studio. I am definitely satisfied with my purchase. I looked at other brands and some were even priced way less than this, but if on a budget this is definitely the way to go.
Completely satisfied!
For the price, you're not going to find a better set of mics. I've not recorded with these mics, but based on how they've performed live in bars, halls, ballrooms, indoors, outdoors, with large and small bands, I have to believe these would work in the studio, too. Great bottom and "boom" on the kick drum, excellent pick-up and crispy breakthrough of my six cymbals from the overheads, and excellent projection from the snare and tom mics. You may get some marginally better performance from the Audix or Sennheisers and pay twice as much or more, but for the money, you can't beat this kit of mics.
Best mic set out there for the price
These are a great foundation for any live or studio soundman looking to grab the first set of drum mics. The next logical upgrade after acquiring these would then of course be to swap out individual mics for higher-end counterparts, I'd start with the snare miv as plain SM57's are easy to acquire if one doesn't already own some. Or perhaps one could jump straight to the DMK57-52 pack for another great deal on Shure microphones. This is a great pack, nothing else beats it at this price point.
Great Mics!
My drums sound incredible with these mics-no regrets in buying them. I use them to jam to tracks, and later I will do some recording with them. They are solidly built and look good too. Would buy them again.

Shure PGA 7 Mic Kit
Great mics for the price! This set even comes with mic cables, whereas other brands require you to order cables separately. Very responsive, especially the overheads. I would recommend these mics to any drummer. I am going to get two more tom-tom mics, another snare mic for underneath snare, and a second bass mic to outside the resonant head. I'm using a Shure SM-57 for my hats, however the sensitivity of the one snare mic in the PGA 7 kit actually picks up the snare and hi-hat well; I just like a lot of hat. Again, fantastic product at a phenomenal price!!
Sounds fine for the price
Nothing special, but nothing delicate or shoddy either. Quality construction, sound fine, cables are a little fiddly, but for the price, you can't beat this set.
