Magnificent!

By Dean from Carlsbad, CA on January 20, 2023 Music Background: Bass/guitar weekend warrior

...Great! Super! Nice! Excellent! And then I run out of superlatives.
The neck is a joy and feels elegant. There is a flawless finish on everything - could not be better. I have a few basses and wanted a P-Bass to fill out the herd so this was just what I wanted. With flatwounds it's perfect for the thump and the 60's-70's sound. I could not be happier.

Great P Bass!

By Charles Inman from Tampa, Florida on July 29, 2022

The Player series precision bass is a really nice surprise! It came from Sweetwater in great condition and playable right out of the box. Fit and finish is top notch.
While many people believe these are nothing more than the Standard series rebranded...truly, it is upgraded and a joy to play. I figured I would need to replace the p'ups, but the stock p'ups sound warm and responsive...I think I will keep them.
I own another, more expensive, Fender P Bass which is my #1, but this Player will fit right into the family. If you are on a budget or looking to upgrade from your Squier bass...don't hesitate to pick the Fender Player Precision Bass up; well worth the money!

Love this bass

By Steve from Louisiana on May 2, 2022

This is the second bass I've bought from Sweetwater and if you're concerned about receiving a guitar through the mail, I can report that both of them arrived in perfect condition, ready to play and needing only a few tweaks based on my personal preferences. This PBass did not disappoint and has the classic old school sound that I've always loved. Looks good, feels good, and is just really fun to play. Glad I finally bought this classic and just wish I'd done it sooner.

Fender Player P Bass

This is an excellent bass guitar, especially for the price. It has a lot of tone variation, no need for active pickups on this one; nice & simple.

My New Favorite Bass!!!!

By Emilio Jennette from Brooklyn, NY on June 15, 2021 Music Background: Multi-Instrumentalist

I got the bass with a perfect setup! I had to put some lemon oil on the fretboard because it was a tad dry. I also switched out the stock, white pickguard for a beautiful tortoise pickguard (Which I got from Sweetwater!). I put some D'Addario Chrome Flatwounds and it feels great! Fender really hit it out of the ballpark with this bass. It looks and feels like a vintage instrument! Might be getting the jazz bass from the series as well...

Beautiful instrument

It's a Fender. Plays, sounds, & looks like you expect from a P bass. Set up nicely by the Sweetwater techs. I've checked out other brands in this price point. They just don't match up.

Great bass! Period!!

By Joe Lafreniere from Warwick, Rhode Island on May 17, 2020 Music Background: Semi-Pro

This bass is awesome! Great way they show the actual bass you can purchase with the weight listed as well. The neck is perfect for my playing style and feels like home in my hands. Set up was great and the neck checked in at .016. I adjusted it to.012 where I prefer it and it had no buzzing issues. I own a few American issue p bass and this one is just as good if not better. I like the growl of it as well as the balance. No neck dive, I purchased the 7lb 13oz with the Pao Ferro neck. I changed the strings to flatwounds and oiled the fretboard with they were off. I also put on a brown tortoise pick guard and noticed full size pots and a great amount of shielding in the cavity. Excellent craftsmanship, quality woods and electronics along with a 55 point inspection! If you're looking for something closer to original tuners and bridge then you will be pleasantly pleased as myself! This is a keeper!

Fender must be cannibalizing their American sales...

First off, Thank you Ben Jimenez for your recommendation on this bass. (If you're looking for help specifically on bass and guitar, he's an amazing resource) It's a beautiful instrument, the wood grain and paint work are world class. Fretwork is really good. I was going to buy a P Bass but after working with Ben, and considering the tonal options that a J Bass can provide, I'm glad I went with the J.

- I'm swapping out the pickups for Aguilar Hum Canceling (Also heard these at Gearfest and fell in love with the tone. Stock pickups are not terrible)
- Adding an Emerson Tone Control (As expected the stock tone controls might as well be on or off switches)
- Added some Rotosound 77s, (stock strings must be rejects from a piano factory, I could not keep them in tune at all)
- I'm also probably going to add a tortoise or pearl pick guardl.

Picked up at Gearfest this year. What a fantastic first bass. I was ready to spend more but really felt like I never needed to, the quality is that good.

Great buy!

Taught myself to play drums originally, but decided I wanted to branch out and try to wrap my head around something with strings. This bass is wonderful for a beginner or a seasoned player. The range of sound is amazing (coupled with a Fender Rumble 100), and the look and feel are awesome, too.

IMPRESSIVE!

By RICK from NJ on December 3, 2018 Music Background: WEEKEND GIGGER

I am really happy with this bass. I have a USA 50's reissue P bass and this Player Series actually plays better. The neck is absolutely perfect and the satin finish on the back of neck feels like silk. I play through a 1980's Peavey TNT combo amp with a 15" speaker and I can't believe the sound. I might buy the Jazz model next.

Great bass

This bass is fantastic and as always, Sweetwater continues to be the best website to purchase all things music.

Excellent Value

By brian Waring from silverthorne, CO on January 21, 2019 Music Background: 20 years playing bass

Bought this based on the online reviews just to practice with it is a very well made bass. Once I straightened the neck and lowered the action a bit this thing plays beautifully and sounds great. Would definitely recommend to anybody who just wants a good playing & sounding bass w/o breaking the bank.
