Squier Classic Vibe '60s Precision Bass - Olympic White Reviews

4-string Electric Bass with Poplar Body, Maple Neck, Indian Laurel Fingerboard, and 1 Split Single-coil Pickup - Olympic White

The Squier Classic Vibe '60s Precision Bass gives you a powerful 1960s-style instrument that nails the instrument's look and feel from that musically fertile era. A Fender-designed alnico split single-coil pickup serves up classic, fat and punchy P Bass tone, while a 4-saddle vintage-style bridge supplies rock-solid intonation. With all its vintage goodness and modern touches, the Squier Classic Vibe '60s Precision Bass is one of the hottest bass values at Sweetwater. We're sure you'll agree.

Fantastic bass .. well worth the $

By Kevin from Louisiana on February 16, 2024 Music Background: Classic rock, country, oldies, Motown, R&B

I've owned many basses from Ricks, BC Rich, Dean, Fender, etc. A bass buddy of mine recommended a Squier Classic Vibe 70s P bass a couple of years ago. I bought one and never looked back. I wanted another Squier to replace a Geddy Lee Signature Jazz Bass (MIM) bc it had gotten too heavy for my old shoulder. I decided on a Squier Classic Vibe 60s P bass. It's a fantastic bass like the 70s CV! I have sold my Geddy since and now my 2 main basses are now Squiers. The 60s is comfortable, light, and the neck is great. At 1.6 at the nut, it's not as thick as a regular P bass but is more like a J bass. My 70s CV is in black, so I got this one in white. I'll likely get a custom pickguard as I'm not a huge tort fan.
I'm not changing anything else bc it's great as is!
My sales rep, Spencer, is always very helpful. Sweetwater is where I always shop for gear. Shipping is fast and packaging is safe and secure

Best playable and feeling neck Fender has ever produced!

By Leo from New Jersey on February 27, 2023

This 60's P bass has the best neck I have ever laid my left hand upon. I own many basses and an American P bass with the 63 neck and this Squire bass neck is the best out of all of them. The price of the bass is worth it just for the neck! It sounds like a P bass should but I modify everying. Swapped out the bridge for a Wilkinson with steel saddles, steel saddles yield more low end vs brass. I've used both. The pickup comes in at 10K. I went with an Yosemite almost 12K.
Put Gotoh Res-o-lite tuners on it, goodbye neck dive and swapped out the pots. You simply won't regret buying this bass.
In the future these basses will be sought out just as the Squire P bass from 12 years ago with the Fiesta Red finish.
Squire, if you are reading this review please make more of the 60's classic vibe P basses in Fiesta Red with a matching head stock!!!!!!!!!!!! I want one!!!!!!

Well Worth the Price

Love my Classic Vibe. Played great straight out of the box. First class service from Sweetwater. When I am in the market for my next bass, I will call on Sweetwater again.

Beyond expectations

By Jim Edwards from Brooklyn on March 21, 2022 Music Background: Amateur guitar, base player

I was directed to this base by Erik Bothwell at Sweetwater
He has always been helpful in the past but this base is a particular stand out. I can't find a flaw.
Thanks Erik

Such an awesome bass for the price

By Brian H. on March 16, 2022

It looks good, feels good, and sounds good. Its sound is very distinct and clear, and works well with pretty much any effect you add to it. Looking forward to playing this as much as I can!

Plays as sweet as it looks

By Brian Lawrence from Berwyn, IL on January 28, 2022 Music Background: Play bass and guitar in a worship band.

I love my new Squier CV P bass. It was set up just right straight out of the box. The neck plays great and there is no mistaking where that classic P bass tone comes from.
It is a beautiful instrument that feels and sounds terrific. I currently play in a worship band right now and I can't wait to gig it on Sunday!

Don't let the price fool you!

By Ed C from Niagara Falls on October 6, 2021 Music Background: Semi-Pro Studio Musician

Don't let the price fool you! This bass will go head-to-head and toe-to-toe against its Fender counterpart.

Out of the box, you will most likely need a setup. If you don't know how to do a setup yourself, have Sweetwater do it for you.

Best Bang for your Buck!

By Scott Webb from IL on September 5, 2021

For the money your not gonna find a better pbass period. Very minor tweaks to get to my specs and all is good. Only slight complaint is the neck pocket fit but for 479.00 I can hardly fault it.May put my fave split p pickup in later. Dimarzio dp122. Fretwork and finish were top notch. Very happy over all with my purchase and of course Sweetwater go above and beyond in every aspect. If i dont buy from them its because they dont have the product i want. I dont even look elsewhere anymore. Ordered on thursday and was here on saturday.I usually dont buy sight unseen but I chose from 4 basses and with the return policy it's a no brainer.

Amazing player

By Kris Hewitt from Memphis Tennessee on June 28, 2020 Music Background: Punk rock, metal, funk, blues

This is one of, if not the best playing bass I've ever played, I own a fender deluxe active pj bass, a Geddy lee jazz bass(Mexico) and a music man sting ray. This tops all of them in terms of playability, and the simplicity of it allows modding to be easy, if that's your thing, I recommend anyone who wants to get into bass or needs a great playing and sounding bass, get this bass, I threw a green pickguard on mine and it POPS! Thanks to Zach for always being an awesome sales rep and thank you to Sweetwater's luthiers for setting it up perfectly.

A great bass for the money.Good for playing sledgehammer downstrokes. No worries if it gets beat up. It should get beat up.RIP Dee Dee.

Incredible instrument!

By Noah from Washington on December 31, 2019

I received this bass as a christmas gift and right out of the box it was setup perfectly, no additional adjustments were needed at all. Intonation, action, even the neck was straight. Sweetwater nailed it with the general setup as usual. The fact that this is a $350 bass amazes me seeing as it plays and sounds like something worth twice as much. Squier really seems to be upping their quality lately and it shows with this instrument. Whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or even a professional player, I guarantee you won't be disappointed with this bass. If you're thinking about getting one, do it. The value can't be beat.

Gets the job done

By JY on August 29, 2022

I bought the Squier as my backup bass. With LaBella flats, it gets that old school soul sound just fine. I recently had an opportunity to use it in the home studio when recording for a friend's soft pop single and it worked well. I don't play live anymore but because this bass is so light (around 8 lbs), I imagine I could wear this bass for a fairly long time. It also holds tune without any problems. The fretwork is miles better than my Mexican Strat.

For the cons. The nut has some slight finish sprayed on it. I also found some minor tooling marks along the edge of the fretboard that I was able to smooth out in 5 seconds with some 400 grit sandpaper. I wasn't a fan of the super glossy neck which was sticky so I hit the back with some scotch brite to make it more of a satin finish.

Overall, it's a decent bass for a decent price. I highly recommend if you just need something to get the job done.

Squier classic vibe 60s bass

By Cadillac Cary from Clearwater fl. on September 8, 2019 Music Background: Player and guitar tech

Arrived from sweetwater with battered box but guitar was in perfect condition and playable thanks to Sweetwater double boxing and packing job. Neck adjustment and set up along with very good fretwork was better than expected. All electronic parts work well with tone and volume controls being very responsive. Could not find any problem with fit and finish. Intonation was spot on and had no tuning problems. The Alnico pick up when played thru my Ampeg rig sounds awesome and oh yeah a shout out to my sales engineer Jonathan Casarow for all his help

Great Bass!

By Randy on June 27, 2019 Music Background: Semi-Pro

Squier has done a nice job with this bass. The weight is very good and comfy, the neck feels great, (I had mine lightly sanded down to make it feel smoother), and the pick up sounds like it should. The only things I changed were the tuners ( Fender vintage reverse style) and the bridge saddles, and added the bridge and pick up covers. I use this bass on quite a few gigs. A very nice bass for not a lot of money, that can be very easily upgraded if needed. I love mine.

Squire CV 60s P bass

By Griz from Missouri on November 12, 2019 Music Background: Semi retired pro

I've been a bassist since the age of 9 and im 67 now. Have owned numerous Fender P basses all Mia except 1 sweet Mim. Currently own a custom P w/ Duncan pups and ebony board that's a monster of a kickass bass but weighs a ton!#! After major surgery and 3 months in the hospital I needed something lighter. I have a Gibson Ebo but missed the p bass sound and feel. After much research and soul searching I found a Olympic white CV 60s P bass weighing 8 lb. Since I don't do much stage work anymore and the studio I occasionally do sessions at has a selection of vintage basses I couldn't justify the price of a vintage or American P. I crossed my fingers and pulled the trigger on the white squire. When it arrived it felt like an old friend! After setting it up with La Bella flats and a few minor adjustments it plays, looks and sounds amazing! Thanks to CJ and the Sweetwater family.
