Love It!

By John Murer from Forest Hills, NY on April 23, 2024

Always a guitarist, always wanted to try the bass. Great instrument for the transition. No concerns and it feels amazing. Beautiful. And now I can learn all that James Jamerson I've been digging for years.

Motown is in its heart

By Don from Phoenix, AZ on March 24, 2022

I love this bass. This was my first Precision Bass. I have had it a few months and have had no issues. It sounds great. I left the 7250 rounds it came with. They sound so good are very functional for all styles of music on this P bass.

The neck is easy to play and the fret work is good. I feel no issues with sharp ends. The pickup is expressive. I am very happy with it. I also have a new professional ii P bass with labella 760fl strings. This Squier complements the professional ii, well. Having one with rounds and one with flats works well.

I love the neck on the professional ii but I don't see the Squier as less playable. It's just different.

If you want a precision bass and don't want to spend a ton, I think you will be happy with this.

Squier Classic Vibe 60s Precision Bass

I was very satisfied with the condition and quality of the product upon arrival. I did not have to do anything to it or make any kind of adjustments. The intonation and everything was spot on.
I believe Sweetwater does an excellent job of taking care of the quality of their instruments and ensuring complete satisfaction. I will continue to order from them.
Thank you so much!

Great bass.

Last year I was looking for a bass. I checked a lot of Fender Precision MIM and some Usa, some USA jaguar. I didnt really liked anyone of them.
The last shop I went somebody told me: why dont you try a Squier?
I was skeptical, if a Usa made preci dont like me, why a bass that costs less then an half should?
I tried and after the third o forth note I played I did understood that I've had found my bass.
As far as I can understand (i play guitar) is better than mexican and also than America performer.
I'm very glad I've bought it.
Last thing I say: of all the basses I tried last year my squier was the only perfectly in tune.

Definitely worth the price

I occasionally fill in on bass on a worship team. I primarily play acoustic or electric.
I've had a jazz bass for a while but wanted that P bass tone for worship.
Purchased this bass, got it home, plugged it in and was totally pleased.
The action was good, tone was great, intonation was spot on, finish was outstanding
Looking for a great bass for a great price. . Get this

Incredible value by Fender

By Don Nix from Chicago on June 7, 2020 Music Background: Clarinet, Bass Guitar

I really wanted a classic looking Precision bass that could produce a nice warm tone. The finish is great, the 3 color sunburst and tortoiseshell pick guard really nail the 60s James Jamerson vibe. I ordered online and within 24 hours it was in my living room, free shipping. Sweetwater hits it out of the park time and time again!!!! The split pickup gives you those vintage Fender tones in spades. I was looking at the player series precisions but after reading glowing reviews it was a no brainer for $... If you are looking at one don't think twice, just pull the trigger and you will be quite pleased.

Great bass for the price!

This is a beautiful looking bass that sounds fantastic right out of the box. A solid alternative to the more expensive Fender P's. And as expected, the amazing Sweetwater customer service from Ben.

Love it

The Squier Classic Vibe 60s P-Bass LH, Plays and sounds great. I have tracked a few songs with my new bass and It sounds killer. The tone is full and the intonation is spot on. Im still getting use to the action as it is a bit high for me. I have recorded a few tracks with it this week and it just sits in the mix like a rock. Every note is fat! and nothing is popping out of the mix.. Im glad i got this and saved some money. I did not expect this level of bass for the money. I would have no problem gigging with this bass is i was still out playing music..

SQUIER CLASSIC VIBE 60`S 3 TONE SUNBURST

Very good fit and Finish, Plays and feels very good

By Sweetwater Customer from MIchigan on May 20, 2020 Music Background: Professional Bassist

I bought this to have a P bass with a bit darker tone. I wanted to have P bass that I could string with flats and get more of a Motown vibe happening. This bass fits that bill very nicely. The tone with the original pickup has good lows and a nice mid-range to it. I was planning on changing the pickup with a Delano with the massive pole pieces so that's what I did. I felt the original pickup was fine though.

The fit and finish was superb. I could only find one flaw on the whole instrument. One of the pick guard screws would just spin and not tighten. That was fixed with a toothpick in the hole. What really surprised me was there was no fret sprout and the ends were smooth. For this type of money, the fret job was on point. The neck was clean and straight, no issues. The tuners feel solid enough and stay in tune just fine. The tone and volume knobs have just a bit of resistance which I like, they feel solid, even though they are cheap pots. It is really hard to go wrong with a P bass in the first place but this CV60 series is really great. The tones I can achieve with this bass range from mellow jazz, all the way to punk rock. Perfect. Fender (Squire) have been doing a really good job on these instruments. For a first bass or another bass, don't hesitate, the quality is actually quite good. The one I bought was 7lbs. 15oz.

I feel as though you don't need to spend thousands of dollars anymore to get a great sounding quality instrument. Once in a while I am sure there will be a dud, but this doesn't seem to be one of them.

Thanks to the Sweetwater team and Mike Picotte!

One issue as received.

Great Bass, Great Price

By L from North Dakota on June 1, 2019

Just recently got back into playing bass after a long time away, for the price I'm not sure you can beat this. Sounds great, no fret sprout although I will dress and polish them. Played a couple of them at a local guitar store, very consistent build quality from few I've played, only reason i didn't buy from the local store is they didn't have the sunburst color I wanted.

Great New Addition to my collection

By John from North Carolina on May 16, 2019

I've wanted to add a P-Bass to my kit for sometime but not spend a lot of money. I chose the Squier CV 60s P-Bass based on price and the quality, play-ability and tones that I was looking for.

Sweetwater did a great job again in checking out and making sure the bass was in top shape. The bass was well packed and arrived with no shipping damage. As always, Anthony followed up with me to make sure I was happy with the purchase.

Right out of the box, I found a beautiful instrument, the intonation was spot on, there was no fret buzz or flat spots on any string, and I loved the great tone I heard when I plugged in to my amp. Fit and finish is excellent.

I plan to put a set of LaBella 760FM flatwounds on soon but for now I'm really enjoying the new bass with the stock round-wounds it shipped with.

I couldn't be more satisfied for the money.

Slapa de Bass mon

By J from USA on March 12, 2019

I'm a guitar player who needed a bass for recording. I love Fender P bass's but couldn't see myself spending that kind of money on a bass when it's not my main instrument. I own several high end guitars, so I know what a quality instrument is. I was hoping I wouldn't be disappointed pulling the trigger on a Squier.

This is a beautiful bass that plays very well. Has great tone. I really like the sound of the pickups that come in it. I had plans to replace the pickups with some Fender ones, but after hearing this bass plugged in I decided to leave it stock for now. I'm running it through a modded JTM45. If I turn down my master volume it's basically a Fender Bassman head. Sounds awesome through that amp into my 4X12 cab with greenbacks.

The only thing I deducted points for was they got a little sloppy with the fret glue when they glued in the frets. They could have done a little better cleaning up the fretboard. There was a little glue residue left on the fretboard by some frets. Nothing major, but it's the little details that they need to pay better attention to. That's the only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars.
The frets themselves feel great and they did a very nice job of filing them on the ends. I have no sharp fret ends on my bass and the neck feels very smooth and comfortable playing up and down it.

Other than that it's a beautiful looking, great playing, awesome sounding bass. Finish is beautiful, love the vintage tint finish on the neck. I wish they would have done the gold and silver "spaghetti"Squire logo instead of the dark Squier one. Would have been more true to a Fender 60's look. But that being said I don't mind the dark logo. That's a minor detail I wish they would have kept like it was on the prototype. I have no regrets buying this bass and would highly recommend it if you're looking for a great playing and sounding bass but don't want to spend a fortune.

Almost perfect

By Pete SI from Staten Island, NY on December 31, 2021 Music Background: Bass and guitar Player for over 50 years

I got this bass two days ago. I'm not gonna get into the shortcomings as this is not a 2k instrument so there's gonna be some issues. My main gripe and the reason I knocked off a star is I expected the neck dimensions to be those of an original '60's pbass. The neck as it is feels more like a jbass neck. I bought this bass because of the sentimental value it has for me. I bought my original pbass in 1966 from Manny's music store on West 48th Street in New York City. At the time it cost $160 and came with a hard shell case. I foolishly let that bass get away from me and I've regretted it ever since.

The bass arrived in perfect condition, was packed liked king tut in his tomb and was set up nicely. The neck was perfectly straight, the intonation was spot on and all I did was lower the action to my liking. Kudos to Sweetwater and my my favorite sales tech Steven Graham. Do I recommend this bass? Absolutely!!

Really Fun Bass To Own

By Sweetwater Customer on February 23, 2021 Music Background: 30 year semi-pro guitar, bass, upright bass, drums, recording.

For the money this bass is quite something. I have set it up with D'Addario ECB81 Flatwound strings as a Jamerson bass and it sounds great. The finish is very nice and the overall weight is light. This would be a great bass to play if you have neck issues.

The pickups do feel a little cheap in their plastic housing but the sound is fine. The chrome knobs also have the budget feel, but those can be upgraded. When I see this bass on the stand with those flat wounds on, I want to pick it up and play it, and that's the best test.

Simple, great sound, nice to look at and light to wear - what else do you want for $...?

Fantastic Bass / Poor QC

By Jimmy Lucas from Hazel Park, MI on June 15, 2020

I absolutely love this bass; It feels and sounds just as good as many bases in the next highest price/quality tier. That being said, I unfortunately had to deduct a star due to some build quality issues. First, the retaining nut and washer for the output jack have fallen off TWICE now since I bought this bass a couple months ago. This was more of an inconvenience than anything because I had to remove the pick guard to re-insert the jack in order to secure it in place again. The second time around I used a threadlocker to keep the nut from coming off a third time. The second build quality issue that I ran into was from the string keeper/tree for the 'D' and 'G' strings. The screw that holds the keeper in the headstock completely stripped out of its hole rendering it unusable. I was able to repair this myself by using a slightly larger screw with a coarser thread; however, I find this to be completely unacceptable from a reputable manufacturer.

Again, this would be a 5-star bass if it were based (no pun intended) solely on how it sounds and performs.

A Little Disappointed

By Peter Hess from New York City on January 17, 2022 Music Background: Bass player 50+ years

The less than perfect rating is not due to any one thing rather a bunch of things I feel are wanting. If this bass was $ less I might have overlooked some of the issues I find lacking. Here's a breakdown of my impressions
1) the bass is overpriced. Compared to my squire paranormal jazz bass this bass is a distant second
2) it came very well setup from Sweetwater. However, I've had to tweak the neck three times already. I'll chalk that up to getting acquainted to my house.
3) I'm gonna have to get a new bridge. It's got good sustain and the intonation is spot on but the height adjustment screws are made of very soft metal and
the heads stripped when I adjusted the string height.
4) there are dead spots on the D string. I thought the stock strings might be to blame so I threw on a new set of fenders. Same problem. I'm gonna try
raising the pickup and I'll see what happens
5) you can see the seams where the body parts were glued on.

While I don't consider any of these issues to be a deal breaker as a whole they just don't add up to a five star rating. About the only thing I can recommend this bass for is part of a beginner's set with Rumble 25, a strap and some picks. Fender could've hit one out of the park with this one but I consider it a swing and a miss.
