Fender American Vintage II 1960 Precision Bass - Daphne Blue Reviews
Musical history buffs and musicians alike can’t stop talking about the American Vintage II Series around our Sweetwater campus. Take the American Vintage II 1960 Precision Bass, for instance. On its period-accurate body, you’ll find many of the heralded achievements forged in the late ’50s and early ’60s over at Fender. Instead of the earlier Telecaster-like appointments found on earlier P Basses, you’ll find a Strat-like headstock, more comfortably curved body contours, and a modern-made Pure Vintage ’60 Split-Coil P Bass pickup. The alder body, hard-rock maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard polish this vintage time-machine off with the right concoction to supply serious ’60s-inspired bass tones.

Love this bass!
Absolutely impressed with the quality and sound of this P bass. First off I want to thank my longtime sales associate Kevin Samuel for helping me out. But, this bass has spectacular specs. From period correct cloth wiring, clay dots, bone nut, lightweight alder body, and nitro finish. The pure vintage pickups sound killer!! Formvar-coated magnet wire around alnico 5 magnets….pure magic. I prefer the 7.25 radius neck as opposed to the 9.5, so this ticks that box for me. Also, the slab rosewood fretboard looks amazing.
Sweetwater shipping is always waaaay above the rest. Double boxed, bubble wrapped, and candy. What more could you ask for?!?!
Seriously, if you are thinking about getting one of these, just pull the trigger. You won't be disappointed.
Hit it out of the park.
I own one. It is a P Bass , it sounds like a P Bass. It is a nice P Bass. No secret sauce here , however … Fit and finish are fantastic. Pickups sound really good. Tone control has a lot of sweep, from crystal clear to mud city. The neck is great. The fretboard and fretwork are prefect. No work needed. Can get really low on the action, lower than I can deal with due to my technique. They left the ashtray and pickup covers off , they are included, which is nice, no holes if you don't want them on.
It is a tad neck heavy as the body is light , nothing I haven't gotten used to. I will say if you love to keep your basses as new be careful as this is a nitro finish and will scuff , scratch and wear easily.
