Tone.
Best bass tone I have ever had. Both plugged in and unplugged. Glad I bought this bass and I got the demo. Action is just a little high. Not so much that it bothers me. Absolutely no Fred buzz which is why I didn't lower the action. well yet. I've had it about a month. As soon as I picked it up I could feel the quality. Way better than any other bass.
You already know
I bought this specifically for recording and since owning it, getting a high quality bass tone that sits in the mix has never been easier. It sounds good at almost any vol/ton setting combination. The pickups are perfect for any genre I throw at it. Might try out flatwounds soon.
As far as the process with Sweetwater, it was about as easy as it gets. Said I wanted the maple fretboard, and they got back to me with a potential date it would be in, then confirmed when the bass arrived and shipped. The bass arrived to me in a beautiful hard case and I couldn't find one single flaw in the finish. Needed no adjustment whatsoever. With most instruments, I would want to try them out beforehand, but after weeks of research, I found that nothing beats a p-bass in the studio and I was certain it would be a good choice regardless. Playing it feels like a dream and it just sounds exactly like you have always heard a bass sound in your head.
The perfect bass?
I've gravitated towards the P over the years, but in the pandemic splurged on a boutique bass. I saw these from Fender and just decided to try it out. The neck is beautiful, the action is so light and precise, and these feel lighter than my old '79 P. And what is better than sunburst with a maple neck?
Great bass gtr
Glad I bought this bass. Has what I need for the great basic tones, quality and dependability, that Fender P bass is known for. Between this new Fender P bass and my old Fender Jazz bass, nothing else is needed.
Impressive Service and Responsive Delivery
The professionals at Sweetwater have some of the best customer service I've experienced. Personalized experience and responsive in communicating your order. Guitar came packed in well with no damage. I'm very happy with the guitar; sounds great. I would recommend Sweetwater to anyone looking for a new guitar.
You could get better for less
I got this bass about a month ago- the fit and finish on it are fantastic- it's a great bass to look at, but that's about it. I've wanted one of these for years and I must say, for the money, I'm completely underwhelmed. Upon receipt, I immediately threw away the trash strings they come with and put a set of LaBella flats on it. Adjusted the truss rod to .012 from the .022 (!) that it shipped with. The bigger issue is the action. With the bridge that's on it, the E string just BARELY makes it into factory spec when the saddle is all the way down on the bridge, meaning that's all you get. So, in order to make it what I consider "playable", I'm going to have to shim the neck. On a brand new, top of the standard production model bass. I have a middle-of-the-road Squier P-Bass that is a much better instrument to play. Disappointing work from Fender.
