The Ideal All-Arounder P bass

By Sweetwater Customer on December 1, 2023

This is, in my opinion, pretty much the perfect Platonic ideal of a P-bass. It's vintage-inspired, but with a few updated modern touches. No fit or finish issues with mine. I'm totally over the moon with this bass. It's now my desert island bass!

Even Better

I am A Fender Precision Fan. My current stock is... 2 American Standard P Basses, 1 Highway One P Bass and 1 Squire Matt Freeman P Bass. I never thought it could get better then my 2 American Standards (frankly they all play and sound fantastic), but Fender pulled off the impossible. The Fender Pro 2 is a step above all my others. Just amazing.

Maple Butter Smooth

By Anthony Marusic from New Jersey on December 13, 2022 Music Background: Playing since ‘92

I've played many different P-basses, including previous Professional series versions. My sales engineer, Cameron Green, was awesome, as usual, helping me navigate the sea of P-bass options. Wasn't expecting this neck to play so well but the satin finish and rounded frets are smooth as butter. It feels like I've owned this bass all my life. The build quality is exceptional. Played it through several different vintage tube and SS heads, and a Darkglass Alpha/Omega for good measure. I can pull so many different tones out of it. I mainly play rock/metal/punk which this thing just crushes, but it also sounds great playing Motown and jazz. This is the only bass you'll ever need and has become my #1

Fender American Professional Precision Bass II

By Greg Kuepfer from Illinois on May 5, 2022

It is hard to believe, or maybe not, that over half a century later that the Fender P bass still rules. After
trying different brands and styles of bass guitars I keep coming back to the P. The American pro series has the
fit and finish of the finest instruments. The neck is big and wide with string spacing to match. This is what feels best to me. But of course all that means nothing if the tone is inadequate. The P bass is perhaps a one
trick pony but it is the bass that many studios and studio musicians use. There is a very good reason for that.
It sits well in the mix and does so perhaps better than any other bass. The P Bass is my number one choice for
playing any style of music so do yourself a favor by trying one out soon.

All the Best, Greg

What a great bass

By Don from Phoenix, AZ on March 24, 2022

This is a great bass. I have an older Fender Jazz bass and 2021 Squier CV 60s Precision. On this one I put Labella 760fl strings. Wow, what a motown killer. You can play just about anything with this bass and those strings and make it work.

I don't know why I waited do long. The improved neck is a real joy to play. If you can play one, you should.

very impressed!

Great bass guitar! Right out of the box, was setup very well. (I'm not actually a bass player, this is my first bass guitar, but I needed a good bass for recording). It was still in tune when first pulled it out of the case! I love the tone and sustain that this thing has, and the finish on it is excellent. The closest thing I have that I can compare it to is my american professional Strat from 2017. These American Professional II guitars are a noticeable step up from that. In my opinion, although they are getting to be very expensive, they are still a great buy. Totally recommended.

Wow!!!

This bass is everything I hoped it would be and then some. Maple neck plays smooth and fast. Love the growl I get through my Ampeg stack!!!

Just a Great Bass

By JS from NY/NJ Metro area on August 26, 2021

Looks, feels, plays and sounds great. The set-up out of the box was perfect and surprisingly in tune. The 1963-C profile neck is not too chunky and the finish is fast. This is a solidly built bass and the high quality can be felt just by picking it up. Band mates have already noticed how well the tone sits in the mix, and that is exactly what a P-bass is known for.

Buy it!!!

You won’t regret buying this

Okay so I just unboxed this and plugged it in so take this with a grain of salt out of the box it felt great. It played like a dream I had to lower the action to my liking which was okay not everyone wants super low action. The frets were awesome they felt great. Tuning was so easy and it stayed in tune just like that. I bought this to retire my American deluxe from 2004 and just use that for studio work and such. I never expected this to sound better than my dream bass. Well it's just as good as that bass it's super loud and didn't have to tweak it at all. Just lower the volume. The notes just picked up and cut through the mix just like that not even five seconds of plugging it in I was playing to music this was literally plug and play I wish other basses were like this because this is really where it's at worth every penny in my eyes very light and easy to play just like my old American deluxe with similar specs. Also my American deluxe was turned passive years ago and now I'm thinking of swapping the pickups out for the same ones this has just maybe. This bass made me decide to sell my other ones and stick with this and the deluxe.

An American beauty

By Dave from Queens, NY on November 19, 2020 Music Background: Intermediate guitar player. Beginner bass player.

I decided to swing for the fences for my first bass, and I couldn't be happier. I used to have a Mexican Strat, and that turned me off Fender for a while because the neck was pretty uncomfortable. The neck on the P-bass feels great and really plays smooth. The hardcase is a beast, and even comes with a lock in case you check it when you fly.
