Jackson Pro Series Signature Brandon Ellis Kelly Electric Guitar - Green Crackle Reviews

6-string Solidbody Electric with Poplar Body, Maple Neck, Ebony Fingerboard, One Humbucking Pickup, and Floyd Rose Tremolo - Green Crackle

Death metal mainstays the Black Dahlia Murder have been an extreme force for years, sharing stages alongside formidable acts such as Cannibal Corpse, Whitechapel, and Children of Bodom, among many others. Guitarist Brandon Ellis has played a major role in shaping the Black Dahlia Murder’s sound since his debut in 2016, combining traditional metal style with a modern flair to create unapologetically brutal leads. The Jackson Pro Series Signature Brandon Ellis Kelly electric guitar delivers everything its namesake could ask for: hard and heavy Seymour Duncan sound, a fast-playing neck, and an ’80s throwback Green Crackle finish. A Floyd Rose locking trem rounds out this monstrous machine, making it perfect for wild squeals and deep-sea dives.

Shockingly impressive!

By Mark Mckenzie from Minneola, FL on March 31, 2023 Music Background: Very experienced

I'll be honest here. I had some reservations about buying the Brandon Ellis kelly signature. My experience of Jackson guitars over the last few years hasn't been great. I've always loved Jackson guitars especially the old ones but when I'd pick one up at a store, they were not the best. I prefer set bridges and the color scheme wasn't my normal cup of tea. However I've wanted this guitar since it debuted because of its single pickup/volume control layout. Like the old school Marty Friedman Jackson guitars. I had to give it a chance.

As a fan of ESP/LTD quality I was ready to inspect this Jackson Kelly with a very discerning eye. I've ordered 2 other guitars from Sweetwater before so I was confident.
The guitar showed up packed extremely well and no immediate shipping damage was found. In fact, not a scratch on the thing.

Now for the real Pepsi challenge….

What I found was absolute SHOCK in the quality of this guitar.
Yes, it's made in China. Yes, the tuners aren't the best in the world…easily swappable. But my god! The neck, fretboard, body were all of some of the highest quality I've ever found. The frets feel amazing with NO snags or "cutting" your hand on the sides.. this thing is Jackson Custom shop level!
It was even in tune and intonated perfectly out of the box..(like how?) I've played guitar for over 20 years. Owned over 20 guitars from custom shop to cheap crap. Not trying to impress anyone but just saying I know a turd when I find one! Lol

I lowered the action just a bit and it plays absolutely perfect.
It definitely shreds! It's sounds amazing with a thick tone even on the higher strings and notes, normally used to EMG's
I don't know if just lucky and got a dead ringer or what!!
If I had to nitpick my only complaint is the neck binding is black. You don't notice it's there. I think if it was white (or green) it would appear more high end as it feels in your hands! I love this thing!

I'm extremely happy with my purchase. I highly recommend one of these Brandon Ellis Jackson Kelly's! And thanx to Sweetwater again for making the purchase and experience an easy and pleasant one!

My New Favorite

I LOVE THIS GUITAR! Besides the awesome crackle finish, this guitar plays very well. No issues at all. Great fret job, no extra work needed to make the frets feel good. Was able to get very low action with no buzzing. The pickup that came in this guitar screams. Very happy with it. My biggest complaint about this guitar are the tuners. They are the basic ones that come with all Jackson guitars and tend to be a bit stiff. Already replaced them with Gotoh ones. Not a huge deal as this guitar has a locking nut, but worth mentioning. Other than that, this is a beast of a guitar that just wants to be played fast. I compared it with my MIJ Jackson RR24M and this one is every bit as good as my MIJ Jackson. No regerts with my purchase at all. Also, thanks to Jack Wellington, my Sweetwater rep, for being so great to deal with and helping me out with my pre-order and everything. He is spot on with his lead times and info. Thanks Jack!

Arrived in nearly perfect condition.

So , all was well with guitar upon arrival other than it needed a better setup. It shreds, and looks awesome. My only complaints are that it really needs better quality pot and or a cap in the circuit. This thing is basically straight wired and is either on or off. No rolling off the volume for different tones with this one. The pickup is cool though. I like it; its not too hot and pretty even, and bright. I plan to add a push pull type tone, or just a better pot. This guitars is very light and the whole thing vibrates with the strings,so I ended up putting a swiffer duster replacement behind the backplate on the trem springs to help deaden the reverberation some. Other than whats noted, I like it alot. Very comfortable to play ,and hardly any neck dive. Looks sick too!

Branden Ellis Jackson

This guitar is a great guitar! It needed a truss rod adjustment and intonation done before final tuning. I lowered the action to specs and now it is a metal monster! I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because the fretboard had gouges in it from when they filed the frets on the high E side leaving a few rough areas. It is to be expected from a guitar made in China though. You get what you pay for!

Awesome guitar some pretty big QA issues

By Sweetwater Customer on March 3, 2022

It's an awesome looking and playing guitar but has some pretty serious QA issues. The tuners are super low quality. If this guitar didn't have a locking nut the crap tuners would make it unusable. As it is you can get it close, lock the nut, and then use the fine tuners. I'll be replacing those. The input jack is super cheap. I'll be replacing that. It also has some grounding issues (kind of surprised it made it out of QA with those). Easy enough to fix but at this price point everything should at least be OK.
