Retrofit Aluminum Drive Shaft for Pearl, Tama, Yamaha, Ludwig, Mapex, and Gibraltar Double-bass Pedals

The drive shaft in your current double pedal could be bottlenecking your speed and accuracy. Give that pedal a Trick makeover with the Trick Drums V6 replacement drive shaft. This precision-machined, USA-made 6061-T6 aluminum drive shaft is built like a tank, with zero play and zero latency from stroke to strike. Each joint features four roller bearings for maximum transfer of energy and two key locks for all-night stability. For players who want to get maximum speed and response from their double pedals, drummers at Sweetwater recommend Trick V6 retrofit drive shafts.

Impressed, to say the least

By Brandon L. from Fort Lupton, CO

I bought this out of necessity after the driveshaft on my Iron Speed Cobra's failed. I saw the reviews mentioning that it actually improved the feel and quality of their pedals, so I went ahead and ordered it. As soon as I started playing with this piece on I was impressed! The left and right pedals now have the same tension and sound, instead of the left one only being about 75% of the volume like before. Also, the driveshaft has extra length compared to the stock one that comes with the speed cobra's. All around a great product. I do recommend it!

A significant upgrade in feel for the Demonator

By Julian M. from PROVIDENCE, RI

I use a Pearl Demonator on my eKit because it doesn't hit very hard (which is preferrable for eKit), but always noticed that the slave side was much less responsive than the primary pedal. It just wouldn't rebound the same, and tightening the spring wasn't exactly a solution. A friend recommended the Trick driveshaft as a solution and that 100% did the trick. It now feels like playing two identical single pedals on two kick drums. Absolutely a worthwhile upgrade and a lot more cost effective than just buying a complete new boutique pedal, especially if you're already used to something like the Demonator.

Magic Wand

By Charles B. from Oswego, IL

I really didn't expect there to be a huge difference in feel but I was wrong. I play a 910 speed cobra. The left pedal felt faster and a whole lot more solid. The bass drum even sounded better because the strokes were so even and the left sounded just as powerful as the right. Crazy. Totally worth it. If you're reading this and you're on the fence take the leap. This solid piece of gear is a must have for any double pedal player.

Pretty worth it. Iron Cobra 600 compatibility is questionable.

By Ulisses L. from THE COLONY, TX

This drive-shaft was an instant upgrade to my Iron Cobra 600 response, speed, and power, though at the cost of precision, for it grinds against the Tama's left ball bearing for its size. I've learned to power through it, thanks to dedicated time and effort to working my left foot up to speed.

Great Product

I really love this trick product on my Peral double bass pedal.

Perfect upgrade

By Pat H. from West Fargo, ND

These fit perfectly and have ZERO lag. Left has the same speed and response as main pedal. I was skeptical about the difference. It's worth it.

YES!!

By Mike from San Jose

Throw away that stock linkage and step up to this bad boy!! No more slave pedal slop, no more wiggling loose drive linkage during inopportune times (during rehearsal or worse, a show!). Wont regrow hair, bring back your dead dog, or save your marriage but it'll make your double pedal play a lot nicer!

Excellent and as advertised!

By Adrian P. from Los Angeles
Music Background: pro musician/composer/producer

Right after I changed drive shafts I pressed down on the remote/left pedal. I was totally blown away when I saw the left pedal "bounce" almost as much as the main! It's been almost a week since the swapout, and I have yet to do any spring/other adjustments because it already feels so good. Pleasing to see my left foot isn't a bad as I thought. I mean, it still sucks but I can no longer blame the pedal

MAJOR Upgrade

By Christopher D. from St. Louis, MO

I got one of these back in February of 2021 and wanted to put some miles on it before leaving a review so here goes:
I've been playing a set of Tama Iron Cobra 900 flexi glides since 1999. Over the years I've replaced springs, beaters and straps several times. After awhile the linkage in the drive shaft started developing some play and got a little noisy. Got the Trick driveshaft and it solved ALL of those problems and more. Made my double pedal feel better than brand new. Lightning quick and silky smooth. No latency, no noise, nothing but perfect. Yes it's pricey but it's worth the money and if taken care of will last you for the rest of your life. It is a high quality precision piece of gear. The only downside for me personally is that it doesn't fit into the case that my pedals go into. One other downside is that once you start using these you will want to get one for all your double pedals if you own more than one (definitely a first world problem)

My sales enginee Nate McClure was awesome as usual and my order arrived quickly and perfectly, also as usual. Sweetwater is the best!

Trick drive shaft

By William L. from LAKE PLACID, FL

I was having issues with my tama speed cobra.. they are 12 years old. After replacing bearings a good cleaning still had lag on the slave pedal... read some reviews was skeptical about what I was reading.. so it was a cheaper option than new pedals... after a good day to practice with them... Best choice ever and they actually do function exactly like all the other reviews.. completely impressed.. also my sales rep from sweetwater..a drummer.. said I wouldn't be sorry about this purchase.. thanks Dan.... you were right on about this... def a must have if you own double pedals

What a difference

By Jayson C. from Whitehorse, YT

I wondered just how much of an upgrade could this really be, let me tell you I'm blown away, there is literally zero backlash between my beater and my footboard now. I used this shaft to upgrade my Tama Speed Cobras and it's worth every penny!

Do not hesitate here, if you're considering this, you need it

By Jay from Northeastern, AZ

I bought two of these for the two Iron Cobra 900s I own, one older and another newish.

There is too much latency built into the machining of the stock Tama drive shafts. These Trick shafts correct that issue.

After about 30 minutes, your body will figure out that your secondary pedal and main pedal can be played in such a way where you don't have to compensate for the latency...which is awesome.

The bad part is that if you're on backline equipment, you may need to take this piece with you so that your performance doesn't suffer.

I recommend this product whole heatedly.

Iron Cobra

Bought to replace the original driveshaft for my Iron Cobra pedal. It's like new again if not better. Should have replaced sooner.

Trick driveshaft

By Sweetwater Customer

It gives you the feeling you're playing with a double bass instead of of a double pedal.
Strongly advise to all the Tama Speedcobra users!!!
First time with Sweetwater and I couldn't be happier, they send it in 5 days across the planet in excellent conditions!!!

This thing is awesome. I bought it for a Tama speed cobra 910 double pedal, never in my life of drumming for 40 years has playing double bass been so fluid!

Tama Speed Cobra 910 Upgrade

By David S. from Kent, OH

This is an item I put off purchasing for a while because I was hesitant to believe that the drive shaft could be that significant in my playing. I ordered it when I decided to completely disassemble and rebuild my Tama Speed Cobra 910 double pedal. I replaced the stock drive shaft with this Trick retrofit unit and I also replaced all six bearings (I used Bones Swiss Ceramics) and the two springs on the pedal. The bearings helped with the squeaking and smoothness while the springs were a matter of routine maintenance, but the drive shaft is a very noticeable difference.

There is the claim of zero latency with this drive shaft and that is a very accurate claim, but what impressed me the most is that the slave pedal has the same amount of velocity, power, and now sounds the same as the master pedal!

This is really the highlight of the driveshaft is the equal power transfer from the slave as to the master pedal. Do not hesitate to add this to your double pedal, this makes a double pedal feel and SOUND like two single pedals.

If you have older pedals with a little slop in your U joints... don't put this off!

By max S. from NY

I should not have waited so long to buy this... I kept thinking "it won't make THAT big of a difference"

I put this on a pair of 2002 iron cobra double chained power glide pedals... they feel like they are new again... you have no idea what you are missing if you have some older pedals. This totally changes the way they feel.

This shaft is in fact so smooth n tight, that now I am noticing other parts of the pedals that are loose!

The best pedal upgrade you can make.

By Kevin W. from Las Vegas
Music Background: 15 Years Drumming

So I've been playing some insane fast death metal stuff for the past decade (check out Oppressor God on youtube or bandcamp to see what im talking about).. anyways I've been through a lot of pedals and experimentation.
PDP Double Pedal w/iron cobra beaters (no adjustments)

Pearl Demon Drives (Started falling apart after about 5 years...too light feeling)

Trick Bigfoot's (didnt really feel right and after about 3 years of endless tweaking I gave up)

Now I'm on Pearl Redline Eliminators (Smooth, powerful and just enough adjustments.) Im currently using them with the blue cams, belt drives, spring tension almost all the way out and trick pro1v beaters at about 30 degrees or 7.5" inches away from the head. Loads of power, long throw, and still plenty fast. Comfortable swivel technique up to 235 bpm, switch to double strokes up to 280 bpm and this pedal keeps up just fine. As well as gives me dynamic range to top it off. Its really amazing...

Anyways I was looking to spruce it up a little and notices that the slave pedal was just a little laggy. I ordered this drive shaft.....HOLY SMOKES! I had a relatively new set of Redlines and the stock driveshaft wasn't really worn down at all and still felt fine and fast...but I put this on and WOW... its like I'm playing two single pedals now. Its truly mind boggling the difference in feel and just how beefy this part is..
Cant recommend this upgrade enough. Without a doubt.... This is the MOST important upgrade you can make to your pedals besides beaters.

Love it !!!

By Dave L. from Northern California

The Trick driveshaft makes a lot of difference in efficiency, accuracy and control. I've used it on Pearl Redlines,Tama Power Glides, Tama Rolling Glides and now Tama Speed Cobras, and it made a lot of difference. Just feels so much better not have that little bit of play and absolutely no delay !!!
