Only works for a very small keyboard
K&M, I own so many of your wonderful products, why is this such an epic fail? Here's why: There is a notch that connects this tier to the main stand. That notch is not moveable, which means that the bottom keyboard can only be the size of the distance between the notch and back bar of the tier, which unfortunately is only 6" deep, so that means a keyboard larger than 11" deep will sit too far forward (causing it to bounce when you play). Your bottom keyboard is always the largest keyboard, so this makes the tier stand almost unusable unless you are stacking two very small keyboards.
Perfect
So glad I purchased the K&M stand. I had an X style from another brand but got into some more expensive keyboards I just didn't trust the old stand to handle. K&M is living up to the hype. I was told this thing was a tank, and it is. I keep my Kurzweil SP6 on the main level and now used the 2nd tier to hold my Oberheim OBX8. I was able to set it exactly how I wanted it. The stand is very flexible in terms of set up and like the main stand itself, it is rock solid. I have no hesitation having such a heavy and expensive keyboard on it. Wouldn't even consider anything else.
K&M stacker
Good build,lacking in width adjustablity
Stripped!
I'm 70 years old, and I don't have a "wrench grip"
these days- nor did I ever.
So, why is one of my K&M 2nd tier supports stripped and won't unloosen for me to even remove it!
I will be contacting them about this. These are expensive items we're talking about. This shouldn't happen, right?
Nothing matches
Very underdeveloped product. If you try to change angle, holes are not matching. Very limited movement regardless all screwed and bolts.
Very bad engineering.
Would not recommend to but.
poor design
I really like the base omega stand, it's very sturdy. however, this 2nd tier is designed poorly. i have tool tightened the angle adjustment and it's still very lose. every time i touch the synth sitting on this tier, it moves. also, the shelf option i purchased didn't does not have notch outs for the 3rd tier, so i have to sit the 2nd tier shelf in an awkward way to fit the 3rd tier. i'm really surprised that their designers didn't catch these glaring flaws before sending these premium priced products to market
Acceptable use
The design , and QUAILITY , make for a unique addaptation to more than the one , designed for , I'm not certain but did purchase just to see my speculations were correct & were ! Will be glad to share , my adaptation , to another well built product by this company which these extensions were not designed for . Thank you K&M AND SWEETWATER AS WELL !
Solid as a rock!
I've tried several different tiers for my keyboards and all were too sloppy until I got this K&M unit. It's rock n roll steady and built of heavy gauge steel. This stuff is the best.
Thanks Sweetwater.
Height adjustable!
Love it with the 3rd tier as well. I missed the adjustable options on the rear initially. The low profile settings work well with the 'pop-in' screw knob.
Very clean design
I wasn't sure this tier would fit my keyboards given a review that claimed a short depth. The depth is actually 14.25 inches with the third tier connected. I switched from the Jasper stand to the 18820 Omega stand with the 18811 second and 18822 third tiers for a more compact footprint. I have a lot of weight on the stands - RD2000 on the base, Juno 60 in the middle, and Prophet 5 on top. The keyboards fit like a glove and the stand adds a nice aesthetic to my studio. The heights of my keyboards are even and level, which isn't always the case with other stands. The only downside is the complete stand does wobble slightly when playing the keys hard, although it is fine when played gently.
Easy to install and sturdy.
I love the K&M keyboard stands. The 2nd tier cleans up my setup. Looking to add a 3rd tier.
No Bueno
This might work for something like a slim midi controller, synth? Forget about it. Check the depth in the specs. 11in. how many synths do you know of that are under 11 in depth?
Redesigned for the better.
I was surprised to see a 'bracket' type brace on this newest example I've purchased, at the part where you adjust the angle. This is an improvement from the one I bought last year, which has a single 'strut' support at the angle adjustment. That design has no way to completely clamp the adjuster, so is loose and has play even when everything is tightened up. Not an issue once you put a board on it, but not ideal. In any case it's a moot point- they have improved the design. Either version is a great add on to an Omega stand for a second board, and is completely sturdy once loaded up.
