THIS SOUNDS GREAT!

By Jerry BustaBrowne Simmons from Indiana on January 31, 2024 Music Background: Music Producer, Recording and Mix Engineer

I was in the market to expand my inputs and wanted to create this hybrid type of recording and mixing. The Heritage OST 8 did the job! I have this hooked up to my Apollo 8 via ADAT and Behringer AD8000. I also got some 500 series mods that I've been looking at. Now I am able to patch and record what ever I need. I noticed the difference right away. Heritage Audio makes good stuff. If you're not sure you want to break the bank for the other ADAT 500 chassis that is more popular. Take a chance on this one. It might be less features but it definitely gets the job done!

Heritage 500 ADAT

I usually don't write reviews, but wanted to share here because it doesn't have many reviews online.

I got into 500 series modules through DIY preamps (CAPI, Hairball, etc). I was running those in a Midas lunchbox and using the preamps on my interface for conversion. I was looking at the other ADAT chassis we've all seen, but honestly didn't need the extra features on it for my current workflow, and the price has gone up on that one recently. I took the leap on this chassis, and it's perfect for my use-case. There's a deceptively high number of routing options in this thing. You get 2 inputs and 2 outputs for each slot, and can choose where the signal gets sent to the converters per-slot; the external input to the converters compounds on that even further. Between the nicer power supply and the converters, the Midas into the Focusrite Claret sounds dead in comparison. This was a great way to add 8 inputs to my modest rig while keeping my routing options wide open for whatever the future holds. Solid build, super well thought out signal flow for smaller rigs, sounds great.
