Beast Overdrive

By Sweetwater Customer on September 13, 2023 Music Background: Enthusiast

Needed to overdrive the bass tone in lieu of 2nd guitarist. If you're on bass, get this pedal as it offers more than the Boss Overdrive pedal will. You can boost enough low end where other ODs can't. You really can't go wrong with Boss.

Just like I remember

I had one of these in the early 2000's that I'm pretty sure my brother ran off with and destroyed. I'd forgotten all about it until recently while I was checking out the other Boss Waza pedals. Thanks to my sweetwater card, my nostalgia was sated just 2 days later. The pedal is exactly the same as I remember it. It still sounds great in front of, or in the effects loop of my old SVT1000. The blend knob is key as you can really get carried away with the distortion pretty quickly. The handy low eq will make sure you don't loose too much low end with all the distortion. Overall I'm just as happy with it as I was back in the day.

The King of Bass Overdrive and Distortion!

By Richard Williamson from IL - Illinois on January 23, 2019 Music Background: Cosmic Dean of Bass

I've had this pedal for years and I use it to deliver bone-crushing distortion and I use it to add some subtle top-end clarity and articulation on a fretless jazz bass strung with flatwounds and it sounds great at either extreme and anywhere in between. This is a very well balanced pedal that puts out clear strong signals no matter how it's dialed in and the sheer power it delivers has to be heard to be believed!
I've used this pedal since the mid-nineties and nothing to my knowledge has come along yet that matches it.

Awesome Overdrive

Great Unit, after five years, the battery lock opens when i push hard the pedal.

Great Pedal

This pedal is great. Take the time to read the manual, try out the different suggested settings, and then tweak them to your needs. It can warm up your sound, make you fuzzy, grindy, or just straight distortion. It also sounds great on the low B.

Eh

Im gonna keep it in my collection because Boss make the industry standard when it comes to pedals, but it makes my bass sound like McDonalds Sprite( not my words, but I agree)

Meh

Very much a wash of your tone and simply gives you shapeless fuzz no matter where you set the gain. I've owned this pedal since '08 and I only still have it for sentimental value. I love my other boss pedals though!
