best 30$ i’ve ever spent
i bought this pedal hoping for something crunchy and nasty like a queens of the stone age type tone and it gave me exactly what i wanted. if your a cheap guy that wants a nice crunchy tone 10/10, if your an expensive guy that wants a good quality pedal 7.5/10.
This thing is great, and the price is a steal. Works great for bass.
Behringer keeps making great stuff at insane prices. And yes, they're sturdy, even though they're plastic. Most of the things in your life are plastic.
I've been wanting to get the Boss version for years, but I'm glad I tried this much cheaper alternative. It sounds very good, with sounds from warm overdrive to searing distortion. I like everything set at noon. Works great on a bass, as well, giving you the right amount of overdrive and distortion you're looking for.
love it
sounds great and cant beat the price
Just What I Needed
I am a beginner. I was searching for the right distortion pedal, listening carefully to video reviews of different pedals on YouTube, unsure exactly what I wanted. As it turns out, it was this pedal. It provides both overdrive and distortion in an inexpensive package, and my untrained ear likes the sound.
I bought a 9V Snark power supply because I didn't want to worry about batteries. Obviously you can activate and deactivate the effect by stepping on the pedal, but to turn off (i.e. power down) this pedal once it is on, you have to disconnect the input line. Otherwise, it will stay "on" (draining power).
At only $, you can't go wrong (although I haven't put it through a lot of use). Yes, it's plastic, so don't get carried away with your stomping, but it seems sturdy enough.
Nice Pedal
Can't beat them for the price.
tube screamer and metal distortion
Think soft clipping for the od part and a hard clipping for the distortion. With the ability to mix. It's the best of both worlds. Great pedal for the price!! I know people think the plastic case makes them a crappy pedal and they will break. Although have never seen one with any cracks in them. But does anyone remember the arion guitar pedal from the 80's. Those are made with even cheaper plastic. People call them crap back in the day and where very cheap to buy. Now those are hard to find and the prices are crazy!! Me thinks the Behringer's will be in the same boat soon if not already. Prices for used discontinued models are crazy in price and only going up. Even currant models on reverb and ebay are nuts. Get them while they last at Sweetwater. I have them all now, even a few doubles.
Be bringer OD300
I was looking to find a backup distortion pedal in case I had a problem with my main distortion and now the OD300 is my main distortion. This pedal sounds amazing and it sounds as good if not better than my Boss distortion. I have been playing for 50 plus years and have tried just about every kind of distortion pedal out there and this one foots the bill. I would hesitate to order another one if need be. The people at Sweetwater did an excellent job as always and when I need any new gear they are were I go. After buying this pedal I have added three more Beginner pedals to my set up.
The Very Best Of Both Worlds!
This pedal has beautiful distortion and overdrive effects that seamlessly blend into one another for a rich chunky blend like chocolate and peanut butter! Tasty!
Great value
They say you get what you pay for. In this case you get much more than you pay for. Very versatile. I gig with it quite often. Well worth a try.
great pedal
I have had this for sonetime now use it, played with the dials. this thing rocks, for 25 bucvks you can't go wrong, two pedals in one box, awsome.
Exceptional value!
Grabbed one of these as a demo for the price of a burger and a craft beer :-) It is a very usable drive pedal, I like the tones of distortion side more than the overdrive side, although I only played through one guitar/amp combo. I mention this because many player don't realize that some drive pedals don't match well with particular guitars and amps. Cool thing about this OD300 (Boss OS-2 copy) offers a range of drive tones from overdrive to distortion. I am confident that you can find good usable tones for your set up. Bottom line worth twice the price. A low risk investment.
Functional
I use this with a keyboard. It's very nice to be able to mix overdrive and distortion effects and I've found that some very good bass tones can be made by mixing them about evenly. The footswitch is pretty nice. Only real issue is build quality, it feels very plastic and the knobs just don't feel right. I also have had some minor and avoidable noise from my keyboard.
Really usable o/d pedal
Not the best around but it sounds really good. I'd place it in the tube screamer realm with a bit more of a british tone. Not a mega lot of gain on tap but it's a nice organic sounding gain all through its range. That's using a late 70's ultralinear twin reverb tho, one of the cleanest sounding amps ever made. Haven't tried it on anything else yet. I'd give it an easy 5 but the housing is plastic. I just assumed it was metal. Great value anyway.
Bang for your buck
When I ordered this pedal it was on sale... They contacted me. And said the pedal was out of stock, and they would inform me when they get another shipment. The guys at Sweetwater actually called me, after about a month. Asked me if I was still interested in the pedal, at the same price... I said sure. I gave it 4 stars, because its my first OD/Distortion pedal, so I have nothing to compare it too. So far its pretty darn good to my ears. Got the tone I wanted, and I'm very happy. Thanks Sweetwater.
Cheap but good sound!
For a small amount you'll have a very nice overdrive / distortion pedal. The only complaint I have is the idiotic way the battery has to be replaced. BOSS had a pedal too with the battery under the foot part, but they at least had a finger screw that could easily be turned to open the pedal. Perhaps next time...?
Good for the price but spend a little more and get a lot more
If you only have space on your pedalboard for one Overdrive and Distortion pedal, this is good especially for the price. But for an extra $, you can get two Behringer pedals, the Vintage Tube Overdrive TO800 and the Heavy Metal HM300, and this pedal (the OD300) does not sound as good in Overdrive as the TO800 nor does it sound as good as the HM300 in Distortion mode. If you've got space for two pedals, get those two instead, they are both EXCELLENT, especially for the price.
And if you can spring for a total of $, you can also get the SF300 Super Fuzz in addition to the TO800 and HM300 as part of the 3-pack deal that Sweetwater is currently offering. And the Super Fuzz is an AMAZING pedal - more fun and more versatile than even the TO800 or HM300. I bought the 3-pack first, and absolutely love it, and then I bought the OD300 and was underwhelmed. But hey, the OD was only bucks, so it'll get used for something.
But seriously, spring for the 3-pack instead of this pedal, it's SO much better and totally worth the additional money. And no, I'm not getting a commission from either Sweetwater or Behringer, I'm just reporting the facts.
Good sound…poor quality
I bought this as my first pedal. I really liked the sound. However, after 2 1/2 years of light use , it totally quit working.
I won't be buying any more of their products. I'll pay the extra money to get something that lasts.
