Dream guitar
Amazing instrument that's hard to put down. The tone is focused and rich, and it plays flawlessly. The finish looks very cool under different colors of stage lights.
Beautiful, special guitar
Exceeded expectations. In tune and beautiful sounding right out of the box. Shimmering gorgeous sound from this equally beautiful guitar. A guitar for life. I highly recommend this Gibson, worth it. Sweetwater customer service was top notch during the buying process as I've grown to be used to. A+++
OUTSTANDING SOUND
I have had many acoustics in my time I can honesty say only two were top notch as far as I am concern, and this is one of them. my salesman was able to stand beside every order I made, which is also very comforting.
Worth every penny
First off let me say that I'm a newcomer to Sweetwater (about 2 years) and have been working with Matt A. all along. The customer service at Sweetwater is outstanding. Matt will answer any question you have And when ordering with him I feel like I'm conversing with an old friend. I have several high-end acoustic and electric guitars but this is the most I've ever spent on a guitar. Having said that I'm glad I pulled the trigger on this hummingbird. In my opinion this guitar is worth every penny. The craftsmanship is second to none. Its a beautifully crafted instrument that plays and sounds like a dream. It's only the second guitar I've had (50 yrs of buying)(the first being a 2009 Les Paul Traditional)that was set up perfectly from the factory. Will not make one adjustment other than putting my strings on it. It has the most balanced sound I've ever heard on any acoustic guitar. Every note anywhere on the neck is as close to perfect as you can get. After playing it for an hour or so I understand why they call it the Hummingbird. It has a wonderfully light (not overstated or loud) tone. My hat's off to Gibson for still making some of the best guitars in the world And to Sweetwater and Matt for their industry leading customer service.
The best of Gibson
An addition to my "collection", which includes a Gibson J-45, a Martin D-18 & a few others. The Hummingbird has it all - great feel, great sound, and fantastic playability. My hats off to Gibson, which still has the ability to produce an excellent acoustic product line.
Amazing guitar. Amazing Service.
I don't usually write reviews. But wanted to take a minute to praise Mike Wright and Sweetwater for the fantastic guitar and service that they do. This is a big purchase. I'm 48 years old, and the Gibson Hummingbird is my dream guitar. And buying online can be a scary experience for guitars at this price point. But with Sweetwater, not only are you getting THE guitar pictured, but it's been professionally set up both at the factory and then gone over by them. And with the satisfaction guarantees they have and they amazing customer service…. It feels like you are at your local store, but that they actually care about you. Mike worked with my wife closely to surprise me with this Christmas/Birthday/Fathers Day gift lol…. And I couldn't be happier. It arrived perfectly setup and almost in perfect tune lol…. (I let it acclimate to our house 24hrs before opening the box)I have never played, much less owned, a guitar this nice. And thanks to Mike Wright for making a dream come true. Give him a call he knows his stuff from acoustic to electric and then some. Thanks Mike

It's only a guitar but it is OUTSTANDING! I love how it looks, sounds and feels. The most expensive guitar I will every buy but well worth the wait. A big "thanks" to Forrest Powell - he's always very helpful and knowledgeable.
Gibson Acoustic Hummingbird Original - Heritage Cherry Sunburst
It can be hard to buy an expensive guitar without playing it first, but the team at Sweetwater make it easy as can be without playing the instrument. The guitar played and sounded great right out of the box. The action and intonation were spot on for me and the guitar is gorgeous. It has become my favorite guitar. Also, I can't say enough about Sweetwater's customer service. Logan contacted me shortly after the purchase and put to rest any concerns I may have had. I highly recommend the Hummingbird and Sweetwater Music.
Great Guitar
I always wanted a Hummingbird just because I think they look awesome. They are nice sounding guitars but a lot of the cost is in the frills. A D-18 is about the same guitar(tonewoods) with a longer scale length. The bass response on this guitar is great, the open G drills through stuff, its a unique sound that is pretty on the high end, deep on the bass and a little different in the middle, I prefer to play this guitar with a capo. Overall I think its great, but not a go to favorite like my Martins. Additionally when I received the guitar they had shipped it with the battery installed and the bag came loose. Also there was a couple scratches on the upper bout. (Note: Did not buy this from SW, they had no stock and usually do not from what I've seen) Another thing I did not like is the tusq pins, they really make a rustle if you play with a style where your hand touches them a lot. I replaced those with bone pins I had around. I also mirrored the inside of the body, no damage from the battery, I fixed that and it played well and sounded good so I kept it and got a discount from the seller. Another small issue was the case had some bubbling in the tolex. All told for the price you would expect it to come perfect, it didn't however I still thought it was worth keeping. The tone and playability was there. Last thing, there isn't much "cherry" in the finish, but I don't mind that. I've heard that complaint elsewhere too. Happy playing!
My Gibson Hummer
1st and foremost thanks Sam Hillman...I have made a few purchases from Sweetwater and "Sam". He helped me revive an Aria folk
guitar that had tuning machines that were breaking up and had to be replaced. Also got a resonator with Sam's advise, an amp and a Looper devise. Now about the "Hummingbird" Bought a demo...perfect condition.. could not wait to open. very disappointed when my "vintage cherry "showed no signs of red.... offered a New at no extra cost......made a deal with Sam
and have never been more happy. Best instrument I have ever owned. Thanks Sweetwater. Thanks Sam.
