Gibson Acoustic Dove Original - Vintage Cherry Sunburst Reviews
Gibson’s flame maple-bodied, square-shoulder Dove brought a bold new look — and tone — to Gibson’s dreadnought lineup when it was introduced in the early 1960s. Fatefully, the guitar would become intertwined with the sociopolitical upheaval — and musical revolution — of that decade. Today’s Dove Original goes back to the model’s roots, with maple back and sides, Sitka spruce top, and a longer 25.5 scale length that delivers crisp, clear tone and robust projection, while the square-shoulder body imparts warmth and balance. Classic Dove detailing includes a bone nut and saddle, double-antiqued multi-ply binding, nickel Grover keystone tuners, a traditional Dove truss rod cover, and the iconic pickguard featuring an inlaid mother-of-pearl dove with hand-engraved and painted embellishments.

Ebony Dove
I bought an ebony Dove back in Dec. 1989 just before Christmas. It was built by Ren Ferguson and has his signature on the label. The guitar feels and sounds incredible. The depth is 2 7/8 deep, I know a little thinner, It also has a graduated neck starting with round and transitioning into a V-neck. I have never seen another Dove like it. The specs on it are a little different than the standard Dove. Ren Ferguson says the top and back are not as thick with a bracing pattern to co-inside. It is just a beautiful guitar.
