Les Paul Not Staying In Tune?
Yeah, I was having the typical tuning issues (G string not staying in tune) with my LP Studio Session.
Tried some very light sanding of the nut at the G string slot, but was still having issues. So after doing more research and reading some reviews, I decided to give Big Bends Nut Sauce Groove Luber Tuning Lubricant a try (thinking "Why should I need to apply nut lube to a new $. guitar to correct a tuning issue?").
Regardless, I applied the Sauce as directed while I was swapping out the .10 - .46's for a new set of .09 - .42 Ernie Ball Slinkies. Amazing how much filth was in the nut slots on a new guitar...
The "miracle" didn't happen overnight, but I noticed "improvement" immediately.
NOW - AFTER FOUR WEEKS of having this Miracle Sauce on the nut, the LP SS stays in tune far more often than not. I play daily and check tuning before I start every day. It might be several days between needing to adjust the G string - IF at all now. Night and Day difference. Well worth the cost of admission!
(Might be worth noting I DON'T do a lot of string bending while playing).
I'd say ANY guitar could benefit from an application of this Nut Sauce. If it helped THIS MUCH with a new guitar, it sure couldn't hurt ANY time I change my strings to help keep it in tune - especially with the heat running so often throughout the Winter months.

l don't know why I never used it.The tuning stability is great.
So glad I bought this
Had seen Ben eller discuss on YouTube. Glad I remembered it after my new guitar purchase that has a gotoh 510 and locking tuners. Tuning was always unstable. A little of this at the nut and bridge and seems much better immediately...
The reviews are true!
I had my doubts about this stuff. I thought people maybe were exaggerating about how effective this is but they aren't! I put this on my Classic Vibe Mustang on the nut and string tree and now even after some absurd abuse on the whammy bar it's still in tune, I actually can't believe the difference. It would detune pretty quickly before. I put on a backing track and went crazy with big bends, still in tune! I will keep a lil luber on hand from now on.
A must have for all guitars!
Hey, this stuff really works. If you have a Strat or a Gretsch with a tremolo you need this.
IT WORKS
I was breaking a lot of strings on stage last year near the bridge of my guitar. I got some of this stuff and have'nt broke a string on or off stage since!
Got a Bigsby?
Newly installed BIGSBY. Lubed the nut AND bridge and it stays in tune. PERFECTLY! Who knew. Get the sauce and be glad.
was ready to sell my G&L Tribute...
I bought a G&L Tribute Commanche from Sweetwater. It's pretty but it would NOT stay in tune. The original nut was not great so I had it replaced with bone (Sweetwater covered it b/c they are the best). The strings were binding in the bone really badly and still causing tuning problems. Every time I touched the guitar, it was making pingy noises on the b and e. Tried graphite, no good. I was ready to sell it and make it someone else's problem, but heard about this nut sauce. World. Of. Difference. Much more stable, no more pingy, can actually use the trem.
Got sticky nuts? LUBE EM UP WITH NUT SAUCE!
It works
If you're looking for tuning stability due to your nut Look no further. I have a bone nut on a brand new LP. $2,500 the guitar costs and you'd figure they'd know that bone nuts stick and can cause tuning issues…. I know bone is a good conductor of sound…. Anyway… This stuff worked perfectly. For a second I was thinking about replacing the nut. Don't have to now. Remember, loss of tuning on G and B strings, pings when you are tuning. These are all signs of a sticky nut.
Finally!
Holy smokes, finally my guitar stays in tune. Whenever I would bend my tele (especially on the G) I would lose tune, without fail. I was so frustrated that I finally did some research and found this stuff. I just played for an hour and literally did not have to retune once when before I was having to retune every time I would bend. This stuff is incredible and I will be using it on all of my guitars going forward!
Wow... Big Bends works great!
Simple to use and works great! Used it on all of my guitars that have vibrato bars... Fender Stratocaster, DeArmond and D'Angelico with Bigsby's with excellent results and no more tuning issues. I was having an issue with the G string on a couple of these guitars binding in the nut slot while using the trems. Put some nut sauce on the saddles and in the nut slots and solved that problem! Tom Maxwell has been good to me over the years with countless purchases, so even with small purchases like this I try to do business with Sweetwater!
Amazing!!!
It"s a miracle worker! Made my fender player series strat stay in tune!
This stuff is great!
I play a telecaster with a bigsby, and it's always been a struggle to keep it in tune. I also tend to break strings fairly often. This "nut sauce" really helps, esp. when applied to both the nut and saddles. Lubricating the contact points improves the feel AND sound of the bigsby imo... the strings are gliding rather than scrapping. Would highly recommend.
This stuff is worth it
Several guitars with "the G string curse" as it's called but also on the 2nd string as well. A little in the slot, problem gone. Used to try and use a No. 2 pencil with very weak to no results. Wish I woulda had this 20+ years ago. I'll bet a small tube will last a year or longer. Haven't used it on pivot points yet but that's next up.
A Life Saver
I recently purchased a Martin GPC12PA4. It plays and sounds amazing. The only problem, and it's a big one, is that I couldn't get the thing to stay in tune at gigs. I'm a pretty heavy strummer and every other song it seemed to go out of tune. Years ago, I used to use liquid graphite in the nut slots. It worked very well. I looked for a similar guitar-specific product and came across Big Bends Nut Sauce. I ordered a tube from Sweetwater. I applied the Nut Sauce to my 12-string and voila, tuning problem solved. I would recommend this product to every guitar player out there. It just works!
Slip sliding away
Amazing lubricant. Used many different ideas and this really is a good application. Maybe you should get more for the price but still good stuff.
Nut sauce
This product delivers as advertised to a tee!!
Essential
I discovered this product a few years ago and have not strung or setup a guitar without it since. The applicator makes it easy to get the tiny amount needed right in the slots. I have 7 guitars and and 1.5oz will easily last me two years! If you have not tried this product, give it a shot.
Great product!
I use this every time i change strings. It really does keep my guitar it tune better. I play a les paul so its known for string binding issues, and this solves that! I only gave it a 4.5 because it's basically graphite powder and petroleum jelly, both are cheap so what you are paying for is the convenience. But you could make it yourself fairly easy.
Love This Stuff!!
I use Big Bends on all my Non-Locking Trem Guitars, put it on at the Nut and stays in Tune Great!!!
Jury is still out....
This is a hard one to describe. It definitely is a lubricant, and I applied it to my nut, as well as anywhere the strings met metal (Saddles too). Does it help? I don't really know to be honest. My guitar (Jackson JS32) stays in tune better, but I don't know if its the Nut Sauce, or the new Grover Locking tuners I installed. I'm thinking more the tuners. For me, this is one of those things that it can't hurt- and it won't break the bank. A single tube will last a long time, so why not ? I gave it a 3.0 simply because it's the middle rating. It doesn't hinder anything, but I cant tell that it helps anything. Decide for yourself.
Truthful Advertising !
My 15 year old Flovd Rose equipped Carvin guitar is in need of a refret and other repairs. Nut sauce has been a great stopgap that's helped keep it functional. Even though I have locking tuners and a graphite nut, it stays in tune better with the sauce in place. The applicator is handy but to stop the flow one must pull back on the plunger a bit.(reminds me of using a caulking gun) I certainly can't think of a better way to put it where it has to go. The only down side to the product is that it dampens the strings a bit to my ears. Overall I'm very glad that this product was created ! Good idea Ben.
After All These Years!
After all these years of the aggravating "pop" while tuning up, and the string goes from flat to sharp, tune back flat, start tuning up, and sometimes another "pop". I have thought that it was a flaw in the tuning gears, strings slipping on the post, or some other flaw that I couldn't figure out. Then, I saw where someone has asked another if he had ever tried Nut Sauce on his guitar. I thought it was a joke. But, I googled it, there it was. I ordered a tube from Sweetwater, used it this morning, along with Gibson fret board conditioner, and when I tuned up no more "pop". I know that I will need to touch up the tuning due to string stretch, I am very satisfied with this product. My Les Paul is happy as well, with a new set of Ernie Ball Cobalt 9-42s!
Perfect solution
Picked up a Les Paul Slash sig Rosso Corsa which I absolutely love but the G and B strings were constantly binding and detuning.
Put the nut sauce on the nut and bridge, stretched the strings and so far it's stayed perfectly in tune.
I'm sure there are home remedies that do a great job but I have nothing but good thoughts about making this purchase.
