Perfect way to try a new OD circuit
My approach to the overdrives on my board is to have 1 of every circuit type and to use them as gain stages ranging from subtle drive all the way to full-bore screaming. I picked up one of these with the thought that I'd try out the ODR-1 circuit and if I didn't like it then I'd have another TS to add to the gain stages plus I would have another buffer to put later in my chain.
After plugging in and cranking up the drive on the TS/TS setting I was happy, but then I tried the OD/OD setting and was blown away. The Nobles circuit has a much flatter response that results in a fuller sound. I had never tried Nobles before so this was my first ever experience with the sound and I decided that this will be a permanent staple on my board moving forward.
Noble Screamer - Very , very pleased!!
After watching ALL the videos on Keeley website, I had to try this - immediately replaced my Nobels mini, it sounds, and feels better than the Mini, and is also quieter. ALL the 'hybrid' drive/tone combinations are good, really good! Super dynamic to pick attack & guitar volume, and, again, this pedal is quiet. I can't see anyone being disappointed with this overdrive. Genius & so is the new enclosure.
Best OD
Simply the best overdrive pedal out there. No surprise a session favorite. Add to clean or overdriven amp or amp channel, you can overdrive textures to match any rock or country sound in your head. Really well made and very authentic representation of both ODR1 and TS. and the mix option of either tone and overdrive circuits id killer. Buy it.
Super versatile pedal, even if you own a late model Nobels
I bought this pedal hoping to use the "tube screamer" circuit because mine died. I have a late model Nobels and just hoped to get close enough to it. As it turns out, the Nobels circuit on the Noblescreamer is smoother and more versatile than the actual Nobels. I highly recommend for a small board to get the most from limited real estate.
Doesn’t sound or feel like a pedal.
It's a plug and play pedal that feels and sounds like an amp. I've never owned an original or newer Nobels so I can't compare. I just put the knobs at noonish, and it sounds great with a Lester or Strat. As always my rep Tomir Denton has put me on to another quality piece of gear.
Favorite new go to overdrive.
Absolutely love it. The Nobles really tames the bite of the Tube Screamer that players sometimes complain about. You'll have fun with this one. Really light, beautiful new enclosure. If you like the Nobles OD or the Almighty Tube Screamer, then you'll love this.
Keeley Nobles Screamer
Absolutely one of the best Overdrives ever. Very versatile and user friendly. Surprisingly quiet. Works well with other pedals.
Worthy bass overdrive contender
Impressions after using for a little over a week including live - really quiet when active and switching in/out (buffered), natural and warm, touch sensitive, both drive and tone on OD. I didn't hear or sense any loss of low end. As knob tweaking continues, the Noble Screamer won't likely be a 'swiss army knife' type pedal for bass OD/distortion but a solid choice for 'always on OD'. Trying 18V operation next thanks to recommendation from Kent Sallaz-sales engineer and great resource!
Works well with all my guitars and pedal
It's hard to get the kinda tone you're looking for, this is a welcome addition to my pedalboard. It has a lot of tones I'm liking to hear from my rig it's worth every penny.
Great pedal!
Great little box as usual from Robert Keeley and Co. Nobles circuit sounds more rich, articulate, and pleasant than my XTS modded ODR mini, and the tube screamer side I would put right in line with my JAM Dreamer. Now mixing the two is where things really start to get interesting.
The user interface is beyond simple, but the sounds this thing puts out are anything but that.
Robert talks about 4 distinct sounds, but there are an endless amount that can be had between the three controls and two switches.
Sounds glorious in front of my Kendrick tweed Bassman with single coils and just as glorious with humbuckers into the BE channel of my Friedman 50 Deluxe.
The new enclosure is as nice as they come with top mounted jacks and power, even the new packaging and branding are the bees knees.
Love this pedal.
Sleepless Nights
Ever since the Keeley Noble Screamer arrived, I have lost a lot of sleep. Why? Because after the first 30 seconds of playing through it, I was all smiles. I mean it. I put on a pot of coffee. The tweeking started from there and continues, as this is such a versatile pedal with so many great high end, rich tones to be discovered and enjoyed.
The most touch sensitive pedal I have ever played through.
I LOVE IT. So does my Gold Top! Works so well with my Marshall, Fender Princeton, Fender Tweed Deluxe, and Vox AC-15. Great work Keeley, and always Excellent Customer Service from Kent Sallaz.
Screaming Good
Wow, this pedal is everything and then some. I am not a big tube screamer guy but the hybrid options are amazing. Keeley hit this out of the park. The noble and screamer on their own are well voiced but I find the hybrid setting are my go to. It is more balanced than either pedals on their own. It sounds even better with a Klon boosting it. I am running mine through a Black Star Amped 3 clean. Sounds good with P90's, Buckers, and Single coils.
A bit over hyped
This pedal does the OD thing great, but there seems to be a big volume drop when you switch it to the TS side. I really like one of the hybrid modes, but the other one to me sounds like angry bee's. It's on my board for now, but I'm not getting rid of my Noel's yet.
Great tones
First of all, the pedal looks and feels great. About the tones I have to say they are very, very good. Sounds beautiful. Very versatile with many usable sounds. The idea presented is great and the resulting sew combinations sound very good. I recommend the pedal. My only complain, and that's why I give it 4/5, is that the there is not much volume to boost on the screamer tone mode. Volume maxed with gain at 9 or 10 o'clock barely makes unity. On the od tone mod there is plenty of vol.
Sounds great, but the enclosure is awkward.
It lives in the Nobles setting on my board, but it's a nice option to play with the combination of tones. Sounds great! My one complaint is the wedge shape of the enclosure. If you have a second row of pedals behind it, it gets in the way of hitting the back row of switches. It is an impractical aesthetic choice, there's no advantage to it being a wedge from a user perspective. A simple overdrive pedal shouldn't be the tallest pedal on my board! Other than wishing it was in a standard shaped enclosure, I love it and it will probably hang on my board for quite awhile.
