Meh, it's technically a neck

By John C. from IL
Music Background: Pro player, amateur luthier

The neck arrived exactly as described and as pictured, and sweetwaters part in this was executed perfectly. All of this being said, I'm pretty underwhelmed by fender with this purchase.
Upon initial inspection I noticed that the nut looked funny, after installation I realized this is because it's several millimeters too high, and not radiused with the neck. I will have to pull the strings off and do pretty substantial work on the nut to make it play within oem spec (ie. sand it to the proper height, put a radius on it with a radius block, and recut the string grooves). There is no way that should not have been done at the factory. There are no string trees on the guitar, which are necessary for the correct break angle of the strings, again, it's pictured this way but is kind of petty that you pay this kind of money for a neck and they can't give you 50 cents of hardware to make it playable. To go further with that point, it doesn't come with any screws.
After all of this minor aggravation, the fretwork is pretty comically underwhelming. The crowning and fret dressing look bad enough that I will need to redo it myself. Honestly, I'm pretty surprised that Fender was comfortable putting there name on this with how unfinished it was upon arrival. In hindsight, I regret buying replacement parts from Fender and will probably not do so in the future.
