Seymour Duncan Nazgul/Sentient Humbucker Set - Black
Seymour Duncan Nazgul/Sentient Humbucker Set - Black Reviews
Players seeking to plumb the depths of high gain will find Seymour Duncan’s Nazgul and Sentient humbuckers as representing the pinnacle of low end. The high-output Nazgul bridge pickup combines a massive ceramic magnet and custom windings to unleash a malicious mishmash of note articulation, sonic saturation, aggressive pick attack, and a thunderous chug that’s downright terrifying. Tone-wise, the vintage-output Sentient neck pickup sits between Duncan’s ’59 and Jazz model, exhibiting a balanced, Alnico V-fueled tone that tackles pristine cleans and fluid leads with equal aplomb. Sweetwater guitarists have found that this pickup combination equips you for the gamut of high-gain scenarios with tight bass, aggressive mids, and incredible harmonic content across the full frequency spectrum. Furthermore, both humbuckers house a nickel-silver bottom plate, along with 4-conductor wiring for added flexibility and vacuum wax potting for microphonic-free operation. Modern metal guitarists searching for a passive humbucker set with aggressive yet supremely controllable, high-gain capabilities will find Seymour Duncan’s Nazgul/Sentient humbucker set abundantly satisfying.
Pickups
Honestly not my favorite I'm more of a active pickup person so not sure what I was expecting but there not great they have almost no Mids or highs in my opinion and a lot of bass
New Humbuckers
Love the sound and the clarity. Definitely what my Les Paul needed. These top the stock probuckers that some of the Les Paul's come with. Very happy with this purchase, even happier with the clarity of sound I've been desiring
The Darkest Depths of Mordor
Super awesome pickups with a very nice dark chug, but also flexible enough for a number of styles. As always Damon and the folks at Sweetwater were fantastic.
Incredible
Just swapped these into my Ibanez RGA42EXBAM and they are easily some of the best if not the best pups I've used so far. The Nazgul is the perfect bridge pup. Incredible high end and the perfect amount of low. It also has a super clear clean tone that again is almost perfect in my book. The Sentient is seriously the greatest neck pup ever made. From cleans to leads. These 2 paired together is an addicting sound and they brought back all my inspiration. I seriously can't put my guitar down now lol
Fantastic pickup set!
I was upgrading an older Schecter guitar that I bought used and the OEM pickups were kind of shot. I did some research and this set kept getting recommended over and over again. They went in easy and sound AMAZING. They are both hot compared to most pickups, with the Nazgul bridge pup REALLY hot. Great metal sounds, extremely well-balanced and Ola Englund would definitely say they CHUG. The Sentient in the neck cleans up really nicely if you roll back the guitar volume so you can play some nice cleans. Highly recommended upgrade if you are a high-gain player.
WOW..WOW..WOW!!
I threw these puppies in replacing my Fishman Modern Fluences and oh my do these things sing. The Clarity you're still able to pull out from the Nazgul pickup is bonkers, no matter how much gain you throw it'll still cut through beautifully, and then the Sentient... just beautiful, such a lovely warm clean tone, and with the split coil you can get as spanky spanky as you want. These things have brought my ibanez Rg5121 to life, I'm in love honestly. Shoutout to my guy Erik Bothwell, he's made my switch from guitar center to Sweetwater seem like the best decision of my life, you guys are fantastic and so are these pickups!
The Best Pickups I Have
The Nazgul and Sentient pickups are amazing. The Nazgul pickup on the bridge screams like the wraith its named after. It's high gain and can handle the demands of my highest gain amps and distortion pedals. The Sentient doesn't do that, but it handles OD and cleans very nicely. The sound on both is crisp. They installed easily and SD gave thorough instructions to make it a painless installation.
These pickups are amazing in a Baritone!
I installed this pickup set in a baritone Jazzmaster style guitar that I assembled. The clean tones sound super clear, and you can push an amp to breakup point very easily. Super easy to install, great tones, love them!
You NEED this set.
(Except for the P-90) I've never met a bridge pickup I liked, as they all sounded shrill, or nasally to me.
The Nazgul, while better than most, is still a tad on the nasal side.
-So why did I give a perfect "5" rating for the set?
Because together with the Sentient it sounds positively glorious!
It adds definition and just the right amount of edge, and is the Sentient's perfect partner.
And (IMHO) the Sentient is the best humbucking neck pickup ever created: It is very full sounding, but with outstanding note definition.
You NEED this set. It is not JUST for metal heads: It works extremely well for Rock, Blues, and Jazz.
Amazingly versatile
I got these installed just yesterday. I am amazed at the versatility. Amazed.
2021 Seymour Duncan Nazgul/Sentient 6-String Humbucker 2-piece Pickup Set - Black Review
Converted a few guitars to passive, these buckers buck!
Great pups
I just installed these less than a week ago, but am extremely pleased so far. Speaking with my Sweetwater engineer, Erik Molenaar, I was looking for a set of pickups that had ran a little hot, but still had some versatility to them. These fit the bill entirely. Threw these in my old '83 Epi LP and couldn't be happier. Many thanks to Erik and Sweetwater for the consistently excellent customer service!
Excellent!
Exactly what I was looking for. Dark mid growl. Tracks really well on rhythm guitars for recording. Sounds really good in the mix. Thanks for the great service!
Nazgul/Sentient = The Perfect Pair
Nazgul/Sentient Purchase
Very pleased is an understatement. Jimmy is always helpful with every purchase I make and is one of the reasons why I continue to stay a sweet water customer!
