D'Addario NYXL1149 NYXL Nickel Wound Electric Guitar Strings - .011-.049 Medium Reviews

.011-.049 Medium Gauge Electric Guitar Strings, Nickel Wound

D’Addario NYXL Nickel Wound Guitar Strings represent one of the most exciting developments in string technology in recent years. Tough as nails, these strings feature an exclusive high-carbon steel core wire and a reformulated nickel plating on the wrap wire. Of course, NYXL strings are still made with the dedication to quality and craftsmanship that players have come to expect from D’Addario. But what does all of that do for you, the player? First, the strings are more flexible, making them a much better alternative for players who abuse the whammy bar. They’re also more stable — case in point, D'Addario reports these strings flaunt a 131% greater tuning stability. Suffice it to say: with these strings on your guitar, you’re free to play without worrying that a broken string will derail your session.

I won't use any other strings again. These at the present are the end all be all of guitar strings!

NYXL 1149 strings

Recently installed these on an Epiphone Casino Coupe. An amazing improvement! More flexibility than I expected from a heavier gauge than I've used for years. Great feel. Makes this guitar more resonant and lively sounding. I now expect similar results from my other guitars. Great product!

best electric strings I've used

Sound good, feel good, and last a long time.

Great Strings

By Brandon Skarsten from Missoula, MT on July 28, 2015

Fantastic strings. For me and my body chemistry the strings hold up very well and do not corrode. Bright and articulate and holds tuning very well. New set of strings I only have to stretch and re-tune once and they are locked in.

Best Strings

I have played D'add XL for years because of their tone and feel and intonation. I tried the NYXL and they are even better. This is my new string for every guitar with round wounds. This is the best string I have ever played

Subpar for the price

By Chris on September 12, 2019

They feel good and play smooth, but have a dull sound. Ernie Ball Power Slinky have a much better sound for 1/3 of the price.

Different feel

By Joshua from Indiana on May 30, 2019 Music Background: Local Bands and Churches for 15 years

First just had a random string break on the b string tuning to pitch on install. Sweetwater again comes through and I talked to my sales rep Shelby and we have a new set coming my way. As always. Sweetwater rocks!
Second. They feel rough to me. I seem to be in the minority. But this is my second go around with the nyxl"s thinking maybe it was a one time thing but the original XL"s feel smoother to me and I like them more.

Barely broken in

By Tom from Oldsmar, Florida on August 2, 2022 Music Background: Hobby

Way surprised when my B string snapped on a really new (1 month old maybe) set of these. Never break Ernies for 1/2 as much.
