It's Good!

By Sweetwater Customer from NM on November 7, 2023

I got this to pair with my Mustang LT50. I works great and most importantly it was easy for me to figure out and set up. For someone at my skill level it's perfect!

Just what I needed, and at the best price I could find!

Works great

I like being able to use either pre-set or custom sounds with the Fender Tone software.

Simply Great

By Matt G on February 24, 2022

I got the MGT-4 foot switch to go with my new Rumble Studio 40 as yet another interface to this amp's vast array of tone presets. Component quality and fit/finish is top notch, as expected from Fender products. This all-in-one foot switch is perfect for what I'm using it for: built-in tuner, programmable amp/effects preset access to the Rumble Studio 40, and the looper function. While the MGT-4 is not intended to be a substitute for complex pedal boards this has been a really cool upgrade for me and helps keep my practice setup fresh yet simple.

Easy to set up and program my favorite presets from my Fender Mustang LT50 amp. Also easy to access foot switches.

Makes life SO much easier!

By Mark Eastman from MD on July 14, 2021

Using this footswitch with an Acoustic JR. GO.
This is an invaluable addition to this amp.
The enclosed magnetic controls overlay stays on securely.
It would be nearly impossible to use the looper without a footswitch, and the ability to scroll through the effects is great.
The tap/tempo function is super useful for adjusting echo and delay rates, in fact I think it's the only way.
If you are buying the Acoustic GO, this is a required accessory!

Paired it with a rumble studio 40. Works perfectly.

Works very well with my Fender Acoustic 100 amp. Solidly built and easy to understand.

Great experience

By Jordan on June 18, 2020

Very pleased with the level of customer service and support at sweetwater. Fast shipping and they even called to make sure if I was pleased with the product and answer any questions. I have a fender gdec 30 amp and they no longer make foot switches for that model but this one works for it great. Just have to relabel the functions but otherwise works perfectly and at a much lower price point than it was under the previous model!

The MGT-4 footswitch is a must-have for a Rumble Studio amp!

By John Williams from California on February 23, 2020 Music Background: Semi-pro bassist

If you get a Fender Studio 40 or Stage 800 amp this footswitch is an automatic must have. It allows you to tune, change presets and even operate the looper all from this solid four switch unit with an LED display.

The argument can definitely be made that with one of these amps and the MGT-4, most bassists may not even need a pedalboard.

I highly recommend the MGT-4 and Studio 40/Stage 800 amps. With the Bluetooth connected Fender Tone app and "Playlist" capability, this setup is definitely the wave of the future!

This is a must have if you have the GT40 amp. Having the turner on the switch is great and the learning curve took me approximately one day.

It make my amp rock even more!

Included free with the GT 200

By Buck on July 3, 2018

There is no reason to buy the Fender GT 100. For a hundred more you get 2 Celestion 12" speakers instead of one, critical for some of the stereo effects. You've already gotten your money's worth but you also get this excellent 4 switch looper et al, an $80 freebie! The GT 200 is still plenty small and light at 34 lbs. compared to the GT 100.

In tandem with the Fender EXP-1 you also get the capability to control the amp's wah wah effect, volume, or whatever other aspect you want to set up.

I think the Fender Mustang GT series is better than Boss Katana, Blackstar, or the others within the same price category. This switch then takes it to yet another level.

MGT-4 4-BUTTON MUSTANG GT FOOTSWITCH

By John Sanders from Aurora,MO on May 19, 2018 Music Background: Lead guitar, , Bass, Drums, Pedal Steel

This footswitch is a must have item for your Mustang GT amp. Along with heavy-duty construction, this footswitch gives you everything you need to control presets, tuner and looper with a tap or two.

Again...Sweetwater Sales Engineers are very helpful, courteous, and just plain nice people. I ordered the footswitch on a Wed. afternoon (2:30 CT) and had it in my hands Friday around 10:30am....WOW, you just cant find any better customer service than at Sweetwater. I have a music store within 5 miles of the house and almost refuse to buy anything in there, due to very poor customer service.

This footswitch, in my opinion, should out last me. Thanks again Sweetwater, for knocking it out of the park.
I know if and when I need something...know where my order is being placed.

So... Once you figure out and set up your Mustang amp, commit your settings to memory, and run the whole show with your footswitch.

Great Customer Service

This was my first purchase from Sweetwater and I was more than satisfied. I am playing a little over 6 months after a 25 year hiatus to give a little background and looking to step up my game. I bought this for my Fender LT50 and I am very satisfied. After learning the ins and outs, it makes me get the most out of my amp. I am also sharing that after my purchase I received a phone call from Tony asking if I needed any assistance or info. Very accommodating

Mustang GT Footswiitch

By Tony from Pittsburgh, PA on January 25, 2021 Music Background: Guitar and drums, mostly garage bands and just love to play!

Great addition to the GT100 amp. I love the looping as it allows me to playback a rif based on the model I set in the amp and simultaneously dub a loop using a different model. Was not able to do that with other loopers. Moving up and down the model list is a bit clunky as you have to press 2 switches at once to move up or down the bank of models but this is a small price to pay for all of the functionality.

If you want to practice and also create some new rifs, this footswitch makes it really easy.

Thanks Sweetwater!

Good Stuff!!!!

Love my Mustang GT40. With the footswitch, just makes things a lot easier and more enjoyable. The Loop is great. Highly recommend to those who own any of the Mustang GT's.

Terrific addition to Mustang amps

By Dave D from Richmond, VA on November 9, 2022 Music Background: Re-starting after many years away

Really allows you to enjoy and play with he tones and pre-sets far easier once programmed than working through the app or control panel. Easy to program. Not always easy to hit two buttons to change banks/effects but at this price you have to have it.

Works well

It works well, but is confusing at first. Once set up and practiced with it becomes easier.

Good to have, but quirky

By Thom Cate from Sacramento, CA on January 4, 2019 Music Background: Enthusiastic Novice

Although it's a "Mustang GT" footswitch, the MGT-4 also works with Fender's Rumble Studio 40 bass amp (and is included with the Rumble Studio 800). Like the guitar version the pedal is actually controlling features already built into the amp, not bringing new logic or features in and of itself. This means the footswitch sends an analog signal to the amp for it to do something, and as a result, this means there is *some* lag *sometimes,* when changing settings.

I use the app on my smartphone to do almost all amp preset selection; the "bank up" and "bank down" feature on the pedal requires simultaneous pressing of two footswitch buttons, and then it goes up or down by three at a time, and rotates between those three until you select one. However, actually selecting the *one* preset is not discussed in the manual.

There is a "Quick Access" mode, where the user can pre-select three (and only three) presets for rapid selection during play.

I used to use the smartphone app to access the built-in tuner (which works very well); however having direct access to the tuner from a floor switch is greatly preferable. Access to the tuner via footswitch is the best feature of the MGT-4; Fender could make a third floor switch (there is also an expression pedal) for this alone, and it would sell. When the tuner is engaged, the amp goes into bypass mode, and the tuner function is displayed on the MGT-4 itself, which is nice.

The amp has 60 seconds of onboard looping, which is relatively short among industry-standard looper footswitches (but more than enough for me). The looper function works with three buttons: Record/Overdub, Start/Stop, and Undo. Undo only affects the most recent overdub, so if you've laid down three loops, you're stuck with the first two--the manual does not discuss how to clear all loops and erase the looper memory.

Finally, the shiny but dark surface renders the labels on the buttons all but impossible to read in dark or dim light conditions and in brightly-lit environments, as reflections from the metal outshine the printed words; the user should learn what each switch does by practice and memorizing, but that comes quickly.

Don't let the above weaknesses discourage you, the features are fine, just a bit wonky to access, and the price is right. In fact, the price would be fine just for the tuner access alone. If you're on the fence, give it a go, and let Sweetwater's return policy hold your hand.

Completes the amp

Very sturdy footswitch...if you have a mustang, you really need this pedal!

Nice add on for my Mustang, reasonably robust... Now we see how long it lasts

Necessary but not great

By Barry OBrien from Parkville, MD on June 30, 2018 Music Background: Gigging guitarist

I use this with my Fender Mustang 100GT. The amp has many sound options so this footswitch is absolutely required if you need more than 2 settings in a song. It seems like a solid footswitch. It allows three presets and they are easily programmed with the amp. I wish it had one more as that would be enough to get me through a gig without touching the amp. It has a looper with an option to disable, which is nice because that would be disastrous if it was accidentally engaged during a gig.

Some of the buttons do multiple things, like engage a tuner if you hold a button down for a few seconds. BUT when switching presets, it doesn't make the change until you LIFT your foot up, whereas every other pedal activates when you depress it. This is really annoying to me because I find it almost impossible to make a change with the correct timing.

I also had a problem with everything locking up and thought it was the footswitch. Sweetwater is awesome and sent me another pedal but it would still lock up. I called Fender. We suspected that it was the amp and not the footswitch. Fender had me re-install (not just update) the amp's firmware and so far so good. Bottom line: Yeah you need this footswitch but I wish it were better.

Disappointed. Not user-friendly. No clear instructions. Should be very easy but it's not....you have to spend time researching information on it.

Not impressed

By Ray from Rutherford on December 4, 2017 Music Background: Bass, Guitar. Cover and original bands.

It's a little wonky. They certainly could have done a better job. There is a slight delay in going from bank to bank. Also if you don't click both right to go up, or both left to go down, it changes the mode.

If Fender comes up with a new version, I'd love to see an assignable volume/expression/wah and a display that reads the bank name. A better tuner would be nice.

Footswitch in not dependable.

By Randy from Kansas City on September 6, 2021 Music Background: Experienced player.

Your Fender Digital Modeling amp is basically useless without a footswitch and after a time this footswitch is NOT dependable.

I have the Mustang GT200. I've recently been having issues with the footswitch not operating correctly. Example: I'll be on #1 preset and switch to #2. I can hear that the amp has changed to #2, but the digital display still shows #1. Not great if you're switching during a gig and then all the sudden you have to break concentration and wonder what preset you're really on. You can you see in the attached photo that I had tried to switch to #3 but the footswitch indicator light still was on #1. But it was playing #3 preset. I was also having an issues where the preset would switch back to #1 regardless of the preset I chose. Very frustrating. I've been working with Fender on this and they are being helpful, but we'll see if we can get it corrected. My bet is that the only thing that will fix the issue is a new footswitch.

I have some idea of why this is happening. If you open the non-receptacle end of the footswitch, you can see the 10 cent plastic switch inside. I didn't have these issues when I first got the footswitch. There are only so many times a small cheap plastic switch can be depressed before it starts to fail.

I've updated everything and redone my wifi and bluetooth connections. When I unplug the footswitch and use just the amp or the Fender Tone App, everything works as it should.

The footswitch came with my amp purchase. I see that Fender has discontinued the GT200 and now has a new 7 button footswitch. Go figure.

I absolutely LOVE this amp. It's light and it does everything. It would take $$$$ to buy all the amps, speakers and boxes that are emulated within, and they sound really, really good... BUT without a correctly working footswitch the amp is basically useless, especially for gigging. Also, as others have stated. It is also really easy to not hit the necessary two buttons at once to either go up or down. If you don't get it right on the left two buttons, you stand a really good chance of the footswitch taking you to either effects or looper. Again, if you are gigging, you're screwed.

Definitely would not purchase this footswitch if I had a choice.
