Syper fun sounds great
Needed a daily player, decided to go back to short scale (of youth). As usual bass arrived quickly and in good shape w/ candy. The finish is very well done, nice color urethane no flaws and this one has a great looking Rosewood fretboard. It arrived in tune & intonated w factory strings, action a little high. Straightaway, I replaced w Dadarrio nickel wound 45-100 Regular Light, Medium Scale (jst my preference) + slight tweak to intonation. The neck was set perfect frm factory and I was able to get action nice/low without truss rod adjstmnt - happy abt because this one's at heel (yuk). These bridges look good but really are better w low saddle height, sound better too. This pickup is kind'a weak but comes to life raised up, closer than I would usually set but it sounds pretty good so ok. Actually it sounds really good for single pbass p/up, good tonal range, enough low (thumps) and plenty of high. I like this neck profile, suits my small hands. Alder body basses vibrate when played, a sign of quality instrument. For a small bass its pretty impressive, totally growls w distortion + pedals. Note: this bass needs medium scale strings, needs Mustang bass case (unusual dimensions) and 30yrs experience + play w a pick (observations are skewed?). Yes they're kind'a pricey but this is an unusual instrument. Imo Fender did really well on this one.
