Would buy it again

By Michael from Indianapolis on November 7, 2023 Music Background: Daily hobby

Plays like warm butter. The easiest guitar to play that I've ever played. I've had mine for a while. I have zero issues with a bolt on neck which has a matte finish which I prefer over gloss. If I have any complaint it's the 9v battery box required for amplification. It needs to be redesigned. I had to order new cover. Not durable and quite clumsy. They can do better. If using acoustically remove the battery as it seems to drain down a 9v battery even if not being used with amp. These are relatively small things compared to how much I like this guitar.

Fabulous Action and Great Sound

By Tom Swan from Fort Lauderdale, FL on February 22, 2023 Music Background: Mostly self-taught since age 13. I have always enjoyed classical, jazz, and popular music styles.

I'm still getting used to my new Godin MultiAC Grand Concert, but so far I am especially loving the action and the beauty of the instrument. It is very well made and a pleasure to hold. Yes, it is heavy for a classical guitar, but I'm actually liking that the guitar easily rests unsupported on my leg.

I have yet to try the 13-pin MIDI output, but even plugging the audio jack into a small VOX sounds great, at least for practice. I've also used a Roland Street Cube, which sounds a lot fuller. I imagine this guitar will sound good using just about any amp. I am also pleased with the intonation and string balance. In particular, bass strings (6-4) to my ear do not seem to be as overpowering as they often can be on acoustic guitars.

Lastly, recording the guitar output direct to Studio One, my DAW of choice, produces a clean signal, richer and fuller that I get from my Taylor electric/classical. Combining that signal with the miked output from an amplifier makes for a very smooth sound, almost like that from an archtop with minimal effects needed.

I have a lot of experimenting left to do with this guitar. But I am very pleased with it so far! PS: The video is a complete record of me unboxing the guitar, trying it out for the first time, and then recording a music video of my original arrangement of the Orleans' oldie "Dance with Me" in one long take edited only for length (about 20 minutes). Thanks for watching and reading my review. Comments via email (or leave one in the video) are much appreciated! If you buy this guitar, I hope you are as pleased with it as I am. -- Tom Swan

BEST CLASSICAL GUITAR EVER!

By Jamal from Nashville on January 13, 2023 Music Background: Classical

You only live this life here once. GET IT!

I use for classical concerts & gigs, it's PERFECT - great sound, no feedback, sweet tone, smooth playability.

I purchased my Godin MultiAc Grande Concert SA about 15 years ago, it still plays like new and is my favorite guitar ever.

With a 13-pin MIDI interface like the Roland GR series, very fast tracking with no delay.
Breathtaking combinations of sounds that play along with your guitar.. Strings, pads, bass, electric guitar,..
Allows an endless combination of sounds. My favorite feature of this guitar!

Built extremely well, quality materials, will last a lifetime. Love it!

If you've been considering this, wanted this - GET THIS GUITAR

By Lou Moran from Farmington, CT on January 12, 2023

First just playing the guitar unplugged is a outstanding. It definitely a great couch guitar, not silent, not dead - just not loud.

Second plugged in its stunning. The 1/4" jack pickup is excellent. No matter your amp it sounds amazing. Plug it into a Spark - it's great. Into your main rig 12" tube amp - amazing. Acoustic amp, bass amp - or maybe you've got a killer jazz amp - it's just phenomenal.

Third what you can do with a synth (like the GR-55) is mind blowing. It's the tool you need to expand your music, make you think outside the boxes of guitar WHILE you can still play the instrument you (might) know best.

Lastly - and I can't make the point without ALL CAPS - THIS IS AN EXCELLENT GUITAR. If you think this guitar is expensive, or over priced you really couldn't be more wrong - it's going to be your go to guitar. The woods are excellent, the Richlite fretboard plays the like the best ebony board you have (mine is on a Martin J40.) This guitar is a great value.

(Also, buying it from Sweetwater was an outstanding experience.)

Best Plug In Nylon Ever

By Art from Los Angeles on June 3, 2022

I saw this guitar being used by one of my favorite musicians back in 2008. Many years later I found myself needing a plug in nylon guitar. I took the risk and purchased this one given that no store had them in stock for me to try. Let me tell you, everything you've heard about this guitar is true, the pickups are incredible, and it is perfectly built for someone like me who began on classical guitar. It is the perfect instrument.

Better Than Good!!

By jf from DMV on June 8, 2021

Can a guitar actually be perfect? Well this one sounds and plays so good that perfect certainly comes to mind.
Imagine a guitar that removes all barriers to your playing and sounds like a beautiful bell ringing...
It leaves you with no limitations and btw no excuses. So I think in the realm of perfect, this amazing guitar deserves a place.

Hard to beat

By Michael from Peoria on September 7, 2020 Music Background: Amartuur

This nylon electric plays like warm butter. Beautiful and extremely well made. You can play Un amplified but it's quiet and does not sound like a classical guitar. It's subdued and quiet. When powered through a nice amp it comes to life as it was designed to do. I also bought the GR55 guitar synth which patched right in with a proprietary 13 pin connector/cord. I'm having a ton of fun making noise and dialing all different types of patches. I'm super pleased with this great guitar. Highly recommend.

Godin Grand Concert SA

By Victor from Princeton on June 13, 2018 Music Background: Giging Musician

Wow, First Great service from Yuval ext#1367 and the team at Sweetwater including set up & shipping. I have been using Godin Guitars on and off in the past but recently wanted a very solid robust traveling giging guitar that was not so fragile. I do over 100+gigs a year and sometime need to travel and play in areas that are not always safe for instruments. I do have excellent Flamenco guitars by Luthier Lester Devoe & Andy Culpepper. however some gigs just won"t do by a mic alone or be safe. Ahh to the point. The Godin Grand Concert is just right when you need to amplify on stage w/o feedback and w/o lots of time to set up. I can get in and out for a wedding in 10min with a Pedalboard & Roland GR synth. So the transport and set up is very easy. Light too if you get the Godin TRIC Case. When I set up I generally use a wireless system to run the RMC pickups to a Fishman Aura 16 (Godin Multiac SA Image"s) then to a Grace AliX for fine eq, Boss RV-500 for Reverb, Digitech Jam Mab for Looper and out to a QSC TouchMix 8 Mixer or straight to EV Evolve 50 or 2 Bose S1 Pro"s. That"s the set up. The tone is wonderful. Once you understand how to use the onboard eq treble, mid, bass (cut, flat or bost) you dial in your tone and your pretty good to go. Add the Fishman Aura if you want the mic air in your sound. Playability is just fun/ effortless and feels great. It"s very fast on the fretboard. I was not sure if I would like the radius or Richlite fretboard but I really like both. I do use just the RMC pickup signal out and walk around wirelessly and come back to my area and will hook up the 13pin Roland cable to hook up to the GR Synth. The guitar tracks very well and I have played live with no glitches. I"ve played a few gigs out on only the Godin even though I had a back up. I"m really enjoying the new Godin Grand Concert SA. Bottom line is my clients and I like the sound of this guitar and they rehire me and bring me back for future events. It is worth getting a wider and padded strap if you play more than a few minutes.

Great Nylon Player

By Brannon from USA on February 14, 2018 Music Background: hobby, song writer

I have been playing this gem for over a year now, and I must say, that I really like it. The tone is wonderful, the playability is great, and its very versatile in and playing styles, etc. From classical, of course, to smooth jazz, fusion, world music, flamenco, It blows through all of these styles with ease.

Better than I expected

By Daniel from Apopka, FL on March 1, 2016

I received my Godin guitar in record time and was blown away with the quality.
It sounds good not even plugged in, although the bass notes are not as robust
as with a full acoustic. It is so easy to play and all the controls for running it through
my roland GR 55 Guitar synth are conveniently accessable.
When I plug it into my QSC amp, it really comes alive.
Working with Paul Eckhart is always a joy, and Sweetwater is a wonderful
company to deal with. Very pleased!

Agree with Michael

By RP from california on March 18, 2024 Music Background: Just for fun

Battery box is fragile. And thanks for the tip on taking the battery out if you play without an amp.
Otherwise fun to play.
Many thanks!!

Availability

By Tony from Hickory, North Carolina on December 24, 2021 Music Background: Praise band mostly

These mustbe wonderful guitars, but I never see any available near me and there never seems to be any discounts! I would likely have bought one by now had they been available to see what suits my play.

Love it

By Beau on August 29, 2017

I've owned this guitar for 7or8 years, once again Godin sets the standard for quality and sound. This guitar sounds sweet and clean but not cheezy, nylon strings is not for everyone but it kills smooth jazz, flamingo and latin. Very well built for years of enjoyment. Of course with the synthesizer boxes you can buy from Roland the possibilities are endless when you're playing different instruments, I was very surprised how realistic many instruments sound. But if you play it straight into an amp you won't be disappointed either. I love this guitar it's an nice addition to anyone's collection.

God in MultiAc Grand Concert SA

By Michael Hall from Philadelphia on July 26, 2017

A great choice for classic guitar players who want to explore expanded sound possibilities, via Midi.. The neck is reminiscent of a classic guitar so it's not a great trouble adjusting your playing style. The bolt on neck is really disappointing in an instrument of this price.
