But these go up to 11.

By Jeremiah Ford from MOUNT VERNON, WA on August 25, 2023 Music Background: Guitarist

I have been recently taking lessons from Mr Gilbert so I -HAD- to have one of these and I absolutely love it. It sort of feels somewhat like a tube screamer but with some fuzz going on it's just a little different. Also it has a really great level of dynamics which is the key to "achieving purr" so the harder you physically play the more grind you get and it's just a nice texture. Highly recomment especially for you Mr Big fans!

Wow!!!

By Sweetwater Customer on April 28, 2023

I saw this pedal and spoke to my sales engineer. I couldn't be happier! It was affordable, built well, and makes me feel like I am a rockstar!

The settings can be adjusted to have light gain all the way up to some distortion. I couldn't be happier!

Thanks to Tim for encouraging me to try something new!

Great pedal, great price !

By Sweetwater Customer from New York on March 27, 2023 Music Background: Been playing guitar since the 80’s

Gets that 70's/80's classic rock sound with the gain turned up to 2-3. You can get a nice crunch without losing note definition. You can also get a nice boosted clean tone by rolling back the gain a little and turning up the level. The EQ controls really help dial in your sound for each guitar you use.
Pedal is very quiet and built solid. And costs at least half the price of similar pedals

Like the MOJOMOJO, only better

By Daniel Najimian from Orrville, OH on January 26, 2023 Music Background: Worship band: rhythm guitar, bass guitar

Based on excellent reviews, I ordered the MOJOMOJO Overdrive pedal, and was very satisfied with it. Then I caught wind of the newer Paul Gilbert Edition. It got excellent reviews also, even better than the original model, so I ordered it from Sweetwater. So now the Paul Gilbert model has replaced the original, and I use the original model with my bass guitars at church, playing thru the PA system. BTW, both MOJOMOJO versions sound great with my Ibanez TS mini-pedal.

Great Pedal

Nice Pedal - great tone!

Mojo Gilbert covers it well

By Sweetwater Customer on October 14, 2022

I am always looking for good drive pedals that are versatile, and responsive. This is just what this mojo does and does it well. Good low end if you want but it is capable of a pretty good mid hump too. I like the extra grind and the goes to 11 nod too. This one is on my grab n go board beside an sl drive or rat depending on my needs. Have to admit I am a big Gilbert fan and own several signature pedals so take that for what it is. Thanks to Sweetwater for great service and the best rep, "Ryan Murphy" he has always been top notch with any advice and expert knowledge.

Great overdrive

By Sweetwater Customer on October 12, 2022

This overdrive pedal definitely hits the mark. Gives that "grit" that I was wanting. Loving it. And the selling price is affordable for anyone.

Excellent and versatile

By Josh on September 29, 2022 Music Background: 15+ years playing guitar

Owned the original Mojo pedal that had a special sort of soft 70s grit vibe i was very fond of. Thought I'd try this new version and I can say that the original tone profile is more or less the same, but the added "headroom" provides much more clarity and sparkle than the original, which could verge on darkness occasionally to the point that it limited its function. The bass and treble knobs are actually quite useful and can provide a fairly wide tonal palette, i keep my pedal bass boosted alot of the time to retain some warmth from the original pedal. If you are playing clean the added 'gain' can essentially translate to boosted volume, that can help push your amp into a natural overdrive. there is no added noise, it is a very quiet pedal.

the '11' switch effectively turns the purple mojo into a serious OD/fuzz, and has a tweaked EQ that sounds quite good, very tubey and natural. it's nice to have this option as it effectively feels like two pedals in one.

I'm very happy with the pedal as I think it refines what made the original special. I also love the sparkly purple and cream colors, looks great on my board.

This thing is true to its name! Overflowing Mojo

By Rob Chandler from Harrison, TN on September 20, 2022

I basically have this on ALL THE TIME!
Put an overdrive before this and hold on!

Paul Gilbert approved!

Very Nice Overdrive

Bass and treble controls allows you to dial in your sound for excellent note definition.
Well engineered and price is low for a good quality unit.

Mojo mojo overdrive

By Sweetwater Customer on August 19, 2022

Love this overdrive. It does a variety of overdrive sounds and works well with other effects.

Finally Found The Sound

By Sweetwater Customer on August 7, 2022

I've been searching for a certain tone for years, and this thing delivered! It absolutely provides the cleanest, mud-free overdrive I've ever played through. It's no wonder that this version can be found on many pro rigs. It can swiftly knock other mods and pricey boutiques right off the deck. And it's sturdy as heck. You need to pick this thing up. Cheers!

You can pay more if you want.........

By Daniel Galanti from Anchorage, AK on July 1, 2022 Music Background: Pro

You can pay more if you want but you're not going to find a better overdrive. I'm 55 and I've playing professionally for decades. You name a pedal and I've probably gigged it.I've been a big fan of the regular Mojo Mojo for years. I've had 4. I keep replacing it with something "Better".....which means more expensive.I may be thick in the head but it finally dawned on me that I like the freaking pedal regardless of price, price doesn't always equate with quality of sound.

So I'm buying my last Mojo Mojo and there's a new Paul Gilbert model that goes to eleven. I know he's been a fan for years. Paul has great ears and I was sure he dialed this in proper. I was not disappointing. The eq of the pedal is perfect. The mids are sitting right where they should. It's everything I liked about the original but it can get ballsier on the 11 setting(long Live Spinal Tap), perfect. I use an overdrive to boost my leads with my Mesa Boogie Fillmore 50. (a phenomenal amp). I originally bought one of the more expensive boogie pedals thinking it should match up. Nope to much noise, hated the eq. Do yourself a favor and buy the Mojo. I doubt you'll regret it. I'm still going to find a used original for cheaper someday and buy it but I'm glad I bought this one.

Not an OCD, goes to 11

By George Lester from LEBANON, OR on May 25, 2022

OK, this pedal pulls out some stops. I'd say it sounds like my OCD-Ge but it has some major differences that I really like. When I hit the OCD side by side to the PGMM, it sounds like the OCD has an artificial chorus tossed in the mix. Never noticed that before. The thing to take away here and now though is how raw and face melting the PG Mojomojo really is. I have a regular Mojomojo, this is not that. If you can only ever have only one distortion overdrive, this is what I would recommend. 11 my friends, yeah I go to that.

Love this pedal!!!

By Sweetwater Customer from Northern California on May 5, 2022 Music Background: Rock, Blues, R&B

The Paul Gilbert MojoMojo is by far the best bang for the buck pedal around! I play strictly Stratocaster through either a Bjr, C68 Vibrolux Reverb or Blues Deluxe. This pedal lets my single coils sing like a humbucker when needed with all the grit and harmonics but also doesn't lose that single coil chime when you back off the volume. At low gain on the neck pickup I get that snarly SRV tone. Awesome Awesome pedal!

Best drive pedal for the money

By Daniel from Oregon on February 12, 2022 Music Background: Midlife crisis guitarist

This pedal does it all. Low pice, functionality, and amazing tone. The pedal does well with humbuckers and single coils. It has a low noise floor in spite of the increased gain. It plays blues tones as well as heavier rock sounds. I have used it to great success with a fender deluxe reverb, and a bad cat cub 40R.

The best I've found

By Jon Loder from Reno, NV on January 10, 2022 Music Background: Church musician - Mostly traditional hymns.

I've used a few Overdrive, Distortion and Boost pedals before. I could never control the "icepick" harshness of the high tones. That is, until I got this one. It's got the best tone control I've seen yet. I run it in the loop of my Plethora X5 along with a MXR Distortion Plus, a Tube Screamer and the preamp section of my amplifier (4-cable). Most of the time, the other two pedals are off. The MojoMojo does just fine by itself.

So stoked about this

By Adam Hauk from ME on January 5, 2022 Music Background: Rock,Blues,Jazz,Metal,Shred, Fusion

I recently purchased the new TC electronic MojoMojo Paul Gilbert Signature. I've been a big fan of the standard MojoMojo for years now and it's been a staple on my board. Now that I've got the PG MojoMojo I'm loving the tweaked voicing as well as the extra gain. Well done TC electronic

Crazy Amazing

By Billy Smith on January 4, 2022

I dare you to find a better overdrive pedal at this price point. I have OD pedals that cost twice as much and even three times as much and this pedal is comparable. The versatility and the ability to dial in a plethora of dirt is amazing. It sounds great with both humbucker and single coil pickups. This is a steal.

I carry it everyware.......i find my tone fast ,. ...it is a must have gear.

By Abner Pacheco from Utica, NY on October 16, 2021

Awesome OD Pedal, But Takes Some Tweaking!

By Nick P. from Idaho on April 2, 2023 Music Background: Old SoCal Cover Band Guy (Retired)

Using on a Fender Deville 410. My main OD is an EVH MXR 5150 OD (Love It!). My secondary is/was an Ibanez TS9.

I am using the MojoMojo PG for getting closer to a milder Marshall crunch with more bass/punch in the tone than my TS9 provides. It succeeds, but you really have to make use of all the adjustments (Bass, Treble, Drive, Level) as they all seem to react to one another. Does it have Bass? Yup, more than I needed which is always better than not enough!

It took time, but finally got it dialed in and I am happy with it. This does not make a Deville 410 sound like a Marshall, but the tone gets you in the ZEP and AC/DC neighborhood easily. The 11 switch definitely adds more treble/top-end and gain, but the normal side has definite uses as well for 70's/80's/Blues stuff. For the price, this is definitely worth looking into if you want an OD that allows you to smooth out OD EQ to your taste.

Sweetwater sent this really fast and packaged very nicely. Thanks for the awesome service guys!

Great Pedal, Even Better Value

By Brett from Sacramento, CA on April 15, 2022

As a intermediate player with more pedals than I know what to do with, I ordered this as I was 1) a Paul Gilbert fan, and 2) it was cheaper than the JHS model, and I wasn't looking to break the bank, just satisfy the GAS. Needless to say, it's AWESOME (I know, caps are obnoxious), especially considering the price. That said, if I wasn't focused on the value, it's been playing on my board more than a lot of my others recently, so it can hold it's own with all those 200 boutique pedals.

Pulls it's Own Weight

By Tobias Howard from Ellicott City, MD on October 11, 2021 Music Background: Lifelong Professional Amatuer Recording Artist

I preordered this right here at Sweetwater after watching Paul Gilbert demo it on a TC Electronics YT video. Sounded pretty hot, and that it is. I will say that as with all overdrives, this pedal is very guitar and to a lesser extent, amplifier dependent. My hands are not huge, but as you can see in the photo, its a pretty nice size. Not too huge, but shouldn't completely disappear on your board. I like that.

Running my Ibanez 540S through it and into my Peavey XXX yielded some very satisfying grind and thump on the amp's clean settings. With everything dialed straight at 12 o'clock, this pedal is thick with a very "green box" flavor to it. But it's not traditional in that sense. Backing off of my guitar volume cleared things up but doesn't clean things up. This isn't a problem however because I didn't buy this for that. But I was impressed with how things remained overdriven but gained clarity just by backing off a little. Kicking the Drive up to about 1:30 and adding some treble as I have it set in the photo seemed to be the magic spot for me.

The S540 got hard and eager to voice her overtones with every touch and even at my neighborhood considerate volumes, didn't mind evolving into some nice even order feedback. And I was still in Clean mode. Going into Crunch mode with amp gain set between 10 and noon continued to create mayhem and put me close to felony territory. And I'm not even sure the family can hear me upstairs. I can't wait to hear how this baby sounds at garage-recording studio volume. But it has been very smooth and friendly so far.

Having done this, I next plugged in my H.E.R. Stratocaster and proceeded to get some real blues tone, setting everything back to my beginning settings and going clean channel on the amp. This Strat has Fender Noiseless pickups, so buzz was not an issue and I had a lot of fun getting good, clear OD in all my pickup and tone settings. I was really surprised to hear and feel how responsive this pedal is given the name that's on it. It was a very pleasant surprise.

I could go on, but what I should say is that if you want a good versatile OD that can go from round and mellow to breaking all the glasses in the club, you may want to give this one a try. For me, it's a keeper.

it goes to 11

By Erick from NJ on February 20, 2023

Great Overdrive. I like it to boost my High gain Amps or Preamps it doesn,t have enough gain to make a Plexi or JCM 800 a Modern chugging machine but it gives you the 80s vibes when you boost those amps and when you use this pedal in front of the gain channel of a Peavey 6505 or EVH 5150 it really changes the character of High gain amps.

I GOT MY MOJO WORKING..

By JOHN STEVENSON from baltimore, MD on February 3, 2023

So far i like this pedal. I have only used it with the Paul Gilbert short scale guitar the blue and pink one. i must add that is a fun guitar to play and isn't heavy at all. Anyway i approve this pedal and also the other Gilbert pedal. This is fun stuff and at my age I need all I can get of fun, fun, fun.

Good pedal, just not my taste

By Greg Reedy from Cincinnati, OH on January 6, 2023

I was looking for more of a true overdrive, where this sounded more like a drive/distortion pedal that sounded very woolly/fuzzy to me. I couldn't get the bite out of it I was looking for. It's not a "bad" pedal, just wasn't what I was hoping/expecting to get. Gilbert makes it sound great in his rig, but I think we're going for something a little different.

Not the Sound I was Hoping For

By JP from Kansas City on March 30, 2023 Music Background: Music teacher, worship leader, performing guitarist.

It's probably just me and my gear, but I'm not able to dial in the sound I want. Everything I try isn't satisfying. But the pedal works perfectly and is quite versatile, but not what I had hoped for for me.

Didn't Work For Me

By Rick S. on January 4, 2024 Music Background: Long time guitarist and gear fan.

I tried to like this pedal. I tried it as a low to medium gain crunch pedal and that didn't sound right to my ears. Then tried to use it as a lead boost driving various other dirt pedals and got similar lousy results. The strange thing about this pedal is that it sounds like there are two different types of distortion running at the same time within the pedal. Sometimes it sounds similar to natural amp distortion and then other times I am hearing fuzz breakup. Either way, this pedal is a turd. I would recommend avoiding it and spend your money on something tried and true, such as a Boss Blues Driver.
