Radial Mix-Blender Dual Instrument Buffer, Mixer, and FX Loop Interface Reviews
The Radial Tonebone Mix-Blender has a mixer, buffer, and effects loop, all rolled into one. With the Mix-Blender, you can mix two instruments or effects together and send the mixed signal out through Mix-Blender's mixer-style effects loop, activated with the onboard footswitch, for further processing. Mix-Blender works great with guitar, keys, and bass, and Radial spec'd it with two Class A buffers for optimal fidelity. The buffers serve to lower impedance to drive your signal longer distances without noise. At Sweetwater, we're finding a myriad of sonic possibilities for the Radial Tonebone Mix-Blender. You will, too.

A Good Solution for Blending Acoustic Guitar Pickups
This serves one simple purpose: to blend the signal from a K&K Pure Mini Pickup and Sunrise Mag Pickup into one signal. It does it without any noticeable color and you can change the two levels so they are in the balance you like. In my case, both pickups go out through a stereo jack in guitar into a Sunrise buffer box which has two outputs. You can add pedals after the blender or to each signal path before the blender. The blender requires a lot of power but I'm using the Truetone 1 Spot CS6 power supply and the blender works just fine with that. All and all, it is a good solution with lots of options to be creative.
Works with 3 guitars
I am using the Fractal FM3, soon to be FM9, and the Quad Cortex.
I have a 1965 Strat and an Ibanez Gio with 2 humbuckers and a single in the middle. The Strat has a lower output so with the Mix Blender I can
set both guitars the same level. Easy to do since both guitars are simultaneously operating or active. No switching between guitars just turn up the volume of each guitar. The output of the Mix Blender is connected to a Radial Bigshot ABY which feeds both modelers, switchable. Both modelers outputs are plugged into a Radial Backtrack with the FC-2 switcher feeding one pair of QSC K12.2's. Awesome!!
Works great and with the FX Loop return on the Mix Blender I can add a 3rd guitar and use the FX Loop mix to set the level and the switch to turn it on and off.
Just what I needed to deal with multiple guitars with different output levels.
Mix-Blender
Mix-Blender does exactly what I need it to do.
Input-1 Keyboard
Input-2 Bass Guitar
Output into Amp
I can switch seamlessly to either instrument during live performances without any switching.
Thank you Tom Koch and Kyle (technical support) on helping me find what I need.
Required Equipment
If you own one of Gibson's stereo guitars such as the ES-345 stereo, you need this pedal if you dont want to use two amplifiers. The effects loop also allows you to use your mono effects pedals on BOTH of your pickups. This pedal should come with these guitars!
Works Very Well
I wanted to add a loop to my Fender Blues Jr; after much hassle trying and protect the sound of the amp (I wanted it to sound the same with a loop), we gave up. I did my research and I bought one of these. Having the Blend and Level options, this Loop gives me pretty much the same options as the loop on my '83 Fender Concert. It is powered, that's not an issue for me, my pedal board has free power to handle that.
NOTE: if you don't have a lot of 9v power warts-blocks, buy one of theirs. I had to try out a few to find one that would power it up.
It is interesting that even though your connecting all the pedals to the front end of the amp, somehow, the overdrives and such really act and sound the same as a true built in effects loop and the modulation effects still ring true, or at least true enough. Not sure how they get this done but it works like a proper effects loop.
If you need a loop and you'd rather not have one installed into your amp, this is the way too go.
As always Sales Rep. Ty Heimann called before and after to ensure that I was happy with the transaction.
