TC Electronic Mimiq Doubler Pedal Reviews

Doubling Effects Pedal with Stereo I/O and Controls for Tightness, Effect, Dry, and Dubs

The TC Electronic Mimiq Doubler effects pedal puts the sound of your favorite multi-tracked guitar lines onto your pedalboard. With a tap of your toe, the Mimiq Doubler instantly simulates all the intricacies and imperfections that create the massive tones of double-tracked guitars. Controls for Tightness, Dry, Effect, and Dubs dial the sound in for a tighter sound, a bit looser for a more organic feel, or even a sound with up to 4 tracks simultaneously. And the Mimiq is an especially big hit at Sweetwater for its powerful stereo I/O.

Not Your Grampa's BBD Chorus

By Sweetwater Customer on November 24, 2023

but it is basically a chorus substitute, for people who specifically want the double tracked sound.
so i would Not suggest using it along with a regular BBD chorus pedal either, ( it would just smudge it up ),but whatever trips your trigger i guess.
i really like the Eventide pitch shift chorus sound, and it's like oranges and apples compared to Analog BBD.
so i gravitated to this as a random variant of both.
me? i didn't have a chorus pedal, and this was just the ticket.
Thank TC, Thanks SWS

Great Pedal by TC electronics

By Brad Buchanan on June 23, 2023

One of my favorite pedals on the board. Made well works as described and if you're interested? The price matches the quality and effects it's describing. I'm now looking into more products made by TC electronics. I'm very impressed with this pedal and how it performs. Ask for Gregg Block, very knowledgeable on all topics especially guitar related instruments. Honest and will take time to help you figure the best product fit for your guitar needs.

Mimiq is perfect

Works better than I thought...true stereo efx, cuts recording time by not having to double guitars and sounds great! Would recommend to anyone with a recording studio!

Amazing pedal. I use it in a stereo amp and the sound is HUGE. Can't recommend this enough.

An effect box that I almost can't be without. If you are recording or performing it's like your own portable wall of sound.
I use it with my guitars, keyboards, bass and it worked great with dual amplifiers. Sounds clean when properly set in accordance with your audio situation. I have no reason to give this product no less than 5 stars.
Call me, very satisfied!!

Way Too Fun!!

By Sweetwater Customer from Fort Lauderdale, FL on March 1, 2022

Honestly had this on the back burner till I tried it in stereo- that's when my eyes opened up. Along with when Andy from Sweetwater gave some advise to try it as a chorus when going through a single amp= Mind Blown. Soo impressed by this pedal and still have to try it's triple overdub ability.

Awesome little pedal!

Fun little pedal to thicken up your sound! I've always had great results with the TC stuff and this one is no exception. The rifle switch let's you choose how 'full'you want to go and add in some reverb/ delay to REALLY have fun! Highly recommend :)

Fab for thickening studio recordings or Live

By Rick G from Sequim, WA on October 28, 2021 Music Background: Performing 55 years, song-writer, recordings, audio production, etc. Fun Fun.

I mainly use this pedal for recording my electric and acoustic guitars to develop a wall of sound. Live you really need to have 2 amps on stage to really take full advantage of what this pedal can do.

TCElectronics Mimiq

By Sweetwater Customer on October 10, 2021 Music Background: Professional touring guitarist, studio player

This pedal is interesting. I have not used other doubler pedals or tried to get such such an effect otherwise, and so this pedal is my first. I've only performed with it on one concert, in stereo (two amps) and it worked beautifully. With some delay, and a bit of chorus, I felt it was even more effective for the purpose I had assigned it. The effect it generates is more of a thickening of the sound. The delay of doubled 1-2-3 parts is very close, and so it does what one strives for when overdubbing.I would like to try it with other effects to achieve a couple of old-recorded sounds. For players who look for heavily-distorted chords, with double-tracked effect, this pedal seems to do the job. I use it only in solos to add depth with its very simple controls. The effect is not extreme, even using the 3-level setting. I could imagine a more sophisticated design, a larger unit of this device with more control over the simulated stacks of signals, something more like a rack-mounted unit in a pedal. But the simplicity of this pedal is a delight. I recommend to use it in stereo considering the nature of the effect and the history of this sound on recordings, The stereo aspect is crucial to achieve the widening, spatial dimension. Looking forward to applying it more.

Does exactly what I needed.

By Tim H. from New Haven, CT on August 5, 2021

This replaced the signal splitter on my board with the added benefit of actually making my stereo sound better. I have it right after my tuner and it splits into an HM-2 LHP on the dry side and a Blackened Fuzz on the wet "double" side. Makes my stereo rig sound better. I only use the 1 dub mode, so Dry and 1 Double L/R and I use it pretty tight, just enough to make it sound "different" but not sloppy. Does exactly what I had hoped it would do.

Great pedal!

I run a Diezel/Marshall stereo rig and this pedal adds that little but of spice to the tone that really makes it fun and inspiring.

TC Electronic Mimiq Doubler Pedal

By Jeff Porrello from Tucson, AZ on April 9, 2021 Music Background: Long time amateur/semi-professional musician. Professional soundman.

I love this pedal and it will remain on my board. I've always played in stereo, but if you have all your stereo pedals off, the result is a mono signal (a mono image in between the two amps).

With this pedal in the chain, your sound stays "big" and you have plenty of control over "how big". Since my rig is quite sophisticated, I keep the Mimiq in a minimum configuration just to keep things fat (1 DUB & Tightness fully CCW) because I'm generally running stereo modulation, delay & reverb beforehand, so there is a great stereo sound field happening already.

Highly recommended for any one who wants to thicken up there sound, mono or stereo players. It's like having mini post production built into your rig.

Highly recommended!

If you have a two amp setup...... you need this pedal.

By Jeff Johnson from Sherrills Ford, North Carolina on March 6, 2020

This pedal with two amps opens up the soundstage to whole new level. It creates a stereo spread that cannot be duplicated by any other device. I'm not sure how they have achieved this feat, but they did it. You can adjust the levels of the dry signal and the doubled signal independently as well as the tightness of the doubled signal. Very ingenious. I doubt this would benefit a single amp set up, but if you use two amps, this pedal is a real joy. It will also save time in the recording studio for double and triple tracking guitar parts. I highly recommend this pedal.

Addictive

By Sweetwater Customer on December 29, 2019

I had my doubts about this pedal after watching and reading reviews but I thought I would try it out. If you're running a high gain stereo rig you need this pedal. The extra stereo seperation adds a lot of depth to your rig. I also like tracking with it since I can record my amp and run a slightly different dry track in from the Mimiq. It's a subtle effect but the more I use it the more I don't like turning it off.

Subtle to more extreme effect Useful!

I USE DUB #1 AND SET EACH KNOB AT 2:00 O'CLOCK. IT TAKES MY STRAT/ MARSHALL DSL 40CR FROM GREAT SOUNDING TO OUT OF THIS WORLD. I ORDINARILY DO NOT USE PEDALS. I ONLY BOUGHT IT BECAUSE SOMEBODY SAID THAT CAN STEREO BRIDGE TWO RIGS. I HAVE TWO DSL 40'S. I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT IT WILL SOUND LIKE WHEN I CONNECT THEM WITH THIS PEDAL.

IT'S CALLED A DOUBLER BUT THE SOUND IS MUCH RICHER THAN THAT. THE DEMOS ARE NOT MUCH HELP IN KNOWING WHAT THIS PEDAL DOES TO THE SOUND OF A GUITAR IN REAL LIFE.

My new favorite!

By Jeff from Petersburg IL on September 15, 2018 Music Background: 35 years gigging in rock and pop bands

I used this tonight for the first time, and wow! I ran it to two amps, a Marshall combo plugged into a Mesa 2x12 and a custom boutique head with a Mesa 4x12 cabinet. Talk about a wall of sound! Additionally, I ran my Strymon Mobius in stereo through the Mimiq to the amps. This was by far the biggest sound I"ve ever had, due primarily to the Mimiq. When I bypassed it, I still had signal to both amps, but it was just plain sounding. When I engaged the pedal my tone got huge.

I left the pedal on all night. If you do happen to isolate the effected side you can tell there is a bit of digital feeling and minor latency, but when blended with the main signal this thing becomes a beast.

After having this holy grail of tone tonight I sure hope my future gig venues have enough stage room for my entire rig...not sure I"d ever play without it!

I bought this to fatten up my stereo guitar signal in my home studio, and it does that very, very well. But I just plugged my Beat Buddy drum pedal into it, and the sound is massive! Thanks to Reed Bright for getting it to me quickly. This is why I keep coming back to Sweetwater! (Well, that and the bags of candy.)

What I’d Been Looking For...

By Jacob from Indianapolis on April 11, 2018

If you"re running a stereo rig...it"s flat out killer. Extra depth, presence, and a pretty unique quality to your sound. I"m running it in conjunction with a tone bone aby in my live rig - so I have the versatility to run each amp mono, both in stereo, then I use the Mimiq to add another level of sound on top of that.

I had been using a Friedman boost pedal for that but it just didn"t cut it. It wasn"t a volume boost I was ultimately after - it was added thickness, space, presence, and punch. TC Electronic NAILED it with the Mimiq.

They solved an issue that I didn"t even know I was having. Extremely well done, guys!

a permanent spot on my board

By Greg M from AUSTIN, TX on December 14, 2017

this pedal delivers exactly what I was hoping for....a thicker, more pro sounding tone, without using an overused effect like chorus. Long story short...this is one of those essential pedals that I NEVER play without, even if it's just a small gig, where I put it in front of a small amp. It's also great in my main stereo rig....I ran it through the effects loop to see how it sounds there, to take advantage of the stereo outs. Exactly what I was hoping for. A bigger tone, and it doesn't get in the way of how your leads sound. If it's a bit too thick, just adjust the thickness and/or effect knobs a bit. Easy to tweak it for the kind of music you're playing. If I was giving out an award for Pedal of the Year, this would be the winner.

MIMIQ PEDAL SLIGHT OF HAND MAGIC

By Duane Anderson from left coast on March 27, 2017 Music Background: hobbist

I recently purchased the TC Electronic Mimiq from Sweetwater Music.
A few hours latelyI checked my email and had received a notification from Sweetwater music that my order had already been shipped. The pedal arrived a few days later, delivered to my front door. That is what I call comprehensive customer service. Thank You Sweetwater Music.
The pedal it self I plugged it into my amp simulater (DigitechGSP 1101)and recorded a track into a looper (Ditto X4) and did A/B comparisons of the same loop with and with out the Mimiq pedal. It did take a few listens and some adjustment to the mimiq to hear to pedals affect on the loop. Both single note lines and chords became more present and more robust and present without becoming muddy or degraded. The recording was in stereo through one amp .
Yes, this pedal does it's designed to function very well in that the music was enriched and the presence of a pedal was not noticeable as a flanger/chorus/phase shifter would be noticeable.
I have used the Mimiq in the different modes / DUBS 1, 2, 3, with the same satisfying results. used in combination with the Strymon Deco employing the saturation effect, the combined effect of both pedals was most pleasing. Those single note slide guitar lines really stand up an speak with authority in a most musical way.
I am happy with my purchase and the service provided at Sweetwater Music

Very cool & interesting pedal, and easier than trying to even find the old MXR doubler! Cheaper too!!!

By Josh from Upstate NY on November 20, 2016 Music Background: Guitarist of 2 deacdes

I have noticed that this pedal does exactly as it claims and sounds, which is a great thing to thicken your tone and double, triple or quadruple your tracks for live or studio use. The original demo video of this pedal is the best at explaining and being able to really hear what it's capable of, especially if you listen to the video with headphones on.

There are multiple ways to be able to run this pedal - either direct in-line with your other pedals, or running it through your effects loop on your amp/system. You can also set it up kinda like an A/B switch into 2 different amps, for true stereo doubling of tracks. You can also really get the full effect of the 3 additional dubs if you have the right kind of amp set-up, for that "wall of sound" effect as well (...I am running this thru the effects loop on my Line 6 Vetta head, and you can really utilize the 3 extra dubs if your running 4 4x12 cabinets from the 4 speaker outputs on the back of the amp, utilizing the split rig functionality and the stereo effects loop of the Vetta... so as I said, it can really be a truly dynamic piece if your amp or right is capable of really making full use of the thing...)

I can safely say that this pedal does take some playing around with it, to see which way is best for your particular set-up and use to get it to sound design the best, but it is definitely an awesome pedal for the money. Well worth every penny it costs, and by far a h*** of a lot cheaper and easier to get than the older, infamous MXR doubler unit that nobody will part with!!! Kudos to TC Electronic for creating such an awesome, dynamic tone thickening pedal, at an easily affordable price!

So if your looking at or considering getting one of these, stop thinking about it and get it! You won't be disappointed!!!

TC Electronics & Sweetwater bring you another winner

I just got one of these Puppies from my good friend Marshall Oliver from Sweetwater. I'm not a pedal pusher, but this Mimiq by TC Electronics is a killer and is a game changer no matter what type of music your playing. I'd heard this sound on recordings, but had never heard a good pedal that would produce this sound. I was playing with it the other night and got an excellent Randy Rhodes sound out of it. Go to Sweetwater to see and hear the video ad on this, but it sounds much better in person. Check it out.

Wall Of Sound!

Received the Mimiq in the mail today, hooked it up on to my pedalboard and played a long set with it tonight at band rehearsal. I wanted to take it to the limit from the get-do, so I basically used it full throttle 3 dubs (4 guitars), full effect, full dry, and full tightness (turned fully counter-clockwise). It integrated seamlessly with my other drives, delays, and reverbs. I look forward to utilizing it in other ways, but this was a fantastic start! The sound was thick, fat, and stratastic! Very satisfied. Another TC marvel. My sales engineer Ryan Murray got this bad boy to me in 48-hours, also. Excellent work Sweetwater!

While you can get some great results from a short delay or double tracking. I found it extremely fun A/B two amps and really getting the double track feel. While I wouldn't use this to record with, it could certainly work on stage.

Extremely usable

By Peter Birchenough from Freeburg, IL on February 16, 2024 Music Background: Guitar enthusiast, 30+ years experience

I've been using an Eventide H9 pedal to get the harmonizer sound of EVH which is essentially a duplicated signal of the original sound...slightly delayed and slightly detuned. And that's exactly what the MiMiq does.

This is the key to getting EVHs sound more so than a flanger or phaser...this is the cherry on top that most people are missing. I think it sounds best with just one dub with the Effect and Tightness at about 10 to 11 o'clock with the Dry signal max'd. Choosing the number of dubs is up to you, but the doubler is not just doubling the signal, it is slightly detuning it. The Effect knob is essentially a mix control of the affected signal (ie the number of dubs and tightness). It may also be controlling to some extent the detuning as well. The tightness essentially controls the delay of the dubbed signals...in the case of EVH, less is more...you just barely want to hear it.

This has allowed me to build a second, smaller pedal board that is similar to my main board rather than buying a second H9. Sure, now that the H90's have come out, you can pick up the H9 for a lot cheaper now, but it's still pricey compare to this lil guy and this will take up far less space on your board. Even if you're not into EVH...this pedal will fatten up your sound nicely for solo's or crank the knobs and use it for some wild effects.

Pretty much works as described

By Jim from North of Boston on February 6, 2023 Music Background: Just enough ability to be annoying! Back into playing during the intial lockdown, now a MOR player and hobby songwriter.

This was my second TC pedal but first veture into a "specialty" pedal. Gage talked me through this one and his assesment was spot on!
I liked the idea of being able to get a double tracked effect on home recordings. The stereo in and outs are a great feature. Was able to use an ABY box in to run both distorted and similated acoustic amps into my recording. (Yeilds 2 different sounds to mix that are in exact time with each other)
Definately thickens up the sound in front of an amp but shines for recording! Either way, helps me sounds better than me! :)

TC Electronics Mimiq

By Ken Mansfield from Boise on June 7, 2019

I did a ton of research on this pedal before making the purchase and although its often difficult to judge a pedals capabilities etc via You tube demos or manufacturer videos I went ahead and took the leap.I received the pedal very quickly through Sweetwater and was pleasantly surprised at how sturdily built it was.I tried hooking it up a couple of different ways, in my pedal chain(last) into two amps and also via the effects loops of the amps in a "stereo" situation. Both ways provided me with a huge difference in my sound(in a good way) my preference in in the front of the amp pedal chain method. This pedal gives you a thick ,ballsy sound that really helps in my situation being the only guitarist in a metal band.I was extremely happy with this purchase and although it took a bit of knob twiddling to get what I wanted as far as the amount of saturation etc if you're patient you can really dial in some cool sounds.I would highly recommend this pedal.

Really cool pedal.

By TimH from Louisville, Ky. on April 17, 2019 Music Background: I got my first guitar in 1962. These days I just play for therapy.

In this day of excessive use of note correction software, looping, and perfect multi-layering, this pedal is a breath of fresh air. It allows for multi-tracking but it does so in a way that, with the tightness down, makes the second (or third, fourth) note ever so slightly off, consequently giving me those old-school studio sounds I grew up with. Moving the tightness up just fattens the tone in a delightful way. Heads up, though. To really appreciate this pedal it needs to be in stereo. I would have given it a five but I don't think any pedal should be called perfect.

TC Electronic mimiq

By Sweetwater Customer on February 26, 2018

It does what it says it does. It doubles your sound. The only complaint I have is that if you turn the tightness knob past 10 o"clock, it starts to sound a bit artificial. Other than that it does thicken your sound. Better yet, use two amps and this thing come alive. I love it.

Secret Weapon

By Rocky Rich on December 31, 2017 Music Background: Punk Rock Metal Head

While far from perfect, this thing is a godsend. I use this as a part of my live rig and my tone has never been better. I'd been looking for a way to split my signal into two amps that was more interesting than an A/B/Y or stereo delay pedal.

Build quality is great, feels very sturdy and well engineered. The casing is one of the best designs ever I think, to access the battery there's a large set screw on the back that is wide-threaded and can be unscrewed with a quarter. Much more convenient than the typical 4 screws on MXR type boxes, and less fragile and less moving parts than a BOSS style casing. Reliability so far has been perfect.

The stereo ins and outs are a nice feature for those putting this at the end of a stereo effects chain. The controls are marked "Tightness", "Effect" and "Dry". "Tightness" controls how much of the "Mimiq" effect is blended into the signal. When used mono, the "Effect" and "Dry" knobs do what they say on the tin. In stereo, they are essentially volume controls for the left and right outputs. Fairly intuitive, except that the "Tightness" control works backwards from how you'd expect ("0" is the most "tight", while "10" has the most amount of the "Mimiq" effect)

One small issue is that it seems to eat batteries quite quickly, about as fast as an average digital delay (it has a power consumption of 100 mA). It would probably last a good while on a battery if you were using it as an occasional effect. But, if you plan on switching it on at the start of the gig and switching it off at the end like I do, definitely use an adapter. Thankfully, if you're stuck using a battery and it does die mid set, because it's true bypass it'll just switch off and won't kill your signal.

I play hardcore punk and metal and when set to the most minimal settings (1 Dub, "Tightness" at 0, "Dry" and "Effect" at 10) the clarity and definition that it gives is something I've been chasing all of my guitar-playing life. I tried using it with just one amp and it was pretty underwhelming. This thing really shines through two amps, with one set fairly midrange-heavy and clear, and the other more scooped and saturated. I can't say enough about what a game changer this pedal was in that scenario.

I did find that setting the "Tightness" control above 11 o clock brought about some subtle tracking issues when doing fast leads, especially on the treble strings. This was exacerbated when adding more dubs, and at times can sound slightly artificial. Keeping the "Tightness" control set very low (ie, most "tight")

This pedal has become completely indispensable to my live rig, when used subtly it can really fill out the sound of a power trio or add some body to the mix when one guitarist drops out to play a solo. While it might not succeed in fulfilling its goal of providing a 100% realistic double tracking emulation, if you work within its limitations it will yield amazing results. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat if I had to replace it, and might stockpile a couple extra just in case they get discontinued. It's that good.

Much Dub.

By Sweetwater Customer on January 27, 2017

First one died after I tried to update the flash, so I'm afraid to update the second one...

The Tightness controls how much delay is added to the Effect signal. This is known as micro delay. It's delayed about 20ms up to about 35ms. Oddly, the Tightness is counter clockwise. All the way left is the low end of the delay, which is technically "tighter" sounding.

The Effect and Dry knobs control the volume of the effected and dry signal independently. This is probably in place because the micro delay trick does something interesting. Your ear will hear the dry sound as being louder than the delayed sound due to psychoacoustics, even if they are identical in volume. To make sure they sound the same loudness, you need to turn down the Dry side in comparison to the Effect side.

The delay appears to shift over time. So it might be 18ms, then 20ms, then 19ms, etc. This is mostly a good idea, but I have noticed that sometimes the shifted waveforms will line up in a way that you get a intermittent subtle bass boost (when the low end frequencies line up). I'd almost prefer it to sit at one delay instead so the shift isn't noticeable.

This pedal doesn't just delay the signal. It appears to compress the effected side as well. If you record the stereo output and then realign the waveform on both side, you'll see that the waveform of the effected side is not identical to the dry side. That's good, because it helps separate the signal in your brain even further.

The pedal might also use an exciter algorithm, which adds harmonics to the signal. It's sort of like an EQ, but adds content that isn't even there. The pick sounds from other side sound a little different when you pay attention. That could be a byproduct of the compression I suppose, but I think it's different.

The Dubs feature is OK. Using the 1 option simply makes a double tracked guitar. If you use the 2 or 3, it seems to add the multiple signals to just the Effect side. That makes it sit a little off balance. I would prefer that the 2 is panned to the effect side, and the 3 is panned to both the effect and dry side for "quad tracking". Maybe I'm wrong and it does do this. It's hard to tell. The Dubs 1 option sounds the most realistic to me so far.

I've used a few doublers in the past and this one sounds the most authentic. Even when everything is mono, it doesn't create a comb filter sound like some do.

Add Width To Your Mix

By Rex Striggow from Norton, Kansas on November 16, 2016 Music Background: Professional Musician/Audio Engineer

Although the effect seems subtle at first, my band's foh engineer loves it and says it adds a lot of "thickness" to the mix especially with my rock trio. I'm sending the stereo output from the Mimiq pedal straight to the front of house and he is able to mix and pan it any way he needs, to thicken up my sound. At first I was switching it on and off for different parts of songs but the engineer requested I leave it on all the time and then he rides the fader of my amp cabinet mic for leads and such. Overall I am very pleased with the pedal, it does exactly as advertised. It's built well, sounds great and can be used in a number of different ways.
As always, Sweetwater delivers the goods! The best customer service in the business! Thanks!

Very cool tool

By Skot from Washington. on November 10, 2016 Music Background: Project studio owner

I'm using this tool in the studio. I know nothing beats a really good player doing a real double (or more) tracked guitar. The problem is that most of the guys who come thru my project studio aren't the greatest players in the world. Some of them are very good, but can't play it tight enough or, are always changing something just slightly different, than what they played the first time.

I have about 10 different methods of faking a double track in the DAW. Ranging from plug ins, to cloning the track and nudging it 15 or so ms. They all sound mostly fake. Some of them can create a cool effect, that once in awhile is just what the song needs. Most of the time I'm really glad all I ever record for people are demos.

Enter this little guy. I got it a few days ago, and immediately went to work putting it thru it's paces. I used it in a reamping capacity first, on a metal band that I've been working with. Awesome. Fattened up the guitar track with the 3 dubs mode, full effect and full dry, tightness about half way. Night and day difference between this and the other method I was using.

Next day I had an acoustic player in and we used it to record his parts. What a beautiful sound. Full and robust, easy to mix. So much so I went back and reamped an acoustic track I did with it before and it worked wonders for that track.

I even got curious last night and ran some vocals thru it in a reamping set up. It handled it very very well. The vocalist in that track could never sing anything the same way twice and double tracking with him was a nightmare. This pedal brought an awesome quality to what was otherwise a thin vocal.

Is it as good as a real double tracked part? No no it's not. Is it better than the weekend warrior who thinks he's a guitar god, and is paying me by the hour? Yes, yes it is. Don't get me wrong, if a really good player comes into the studio, I'll take the real thing every time. But for those guys out there that can't do it or can't afford to spend that much time in the studio, this thing is awesome.

I originally had the mono mimiq and finally decided to get the stereo one which was a good decision for sure.
The Mimiq definitely expands your sound if you have a stereo rig making it fuller and richer. To me it sounds a bit like a very fast slap-back effect. It is a major improvement over the mono version. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that all three settings are very fast and I can barely tell them apart. I wish the slowest setting had a touch more delay, then it would be perfect in my opinion.

Good Mainly for Leads

By DR K from NYC on October 16, 2021 Music Background: playing over 35 years

I've been running it mono and for my sound i think it shines on leads, particularly unison bends and double stops and those single high notes far up on the fret board past the 15th fret. My regular sound is already very thick.. Iommiish.... so i hear only a subtle difference on my rhythem playing, but it is better in mono then what some yahoo on you tube with a Maiden shirt on described as "all it is is a cheap chorus in mono".....sorry dude we don't all travel around with huge clunky cabinets that you need a road crew for. I'm sure it does sound better in stereo tho, which i'll hear when i run it thru my DAW....

mono versus stereo observations...

By Greg M from AUSTIN, TX on December 18, 2017

After comparing how this pedal sounds in mono versus stereo, this pedal definitely works best in a stereo set up. I've tried it in mono in front of a small amp, and the effect is noticeable and worthwhile, but overall the difference is a subtle one. Then I tried it through my stereo rig...an Avid Eleven into a stereo tube power amp. I ran it through the Eleven's stereo effects loop, and got MUCH better results ! That's where this pedal really shines.

tc electronic miniq doubler pedal

By richard michael from South Carolina on May 29, 2017

i love this pedal , killer for what it does , i double my guitar tracks to thicken them up when recording . Now
that i have this fantastic pedal ( i do not have to do this during the recording sessions ) 1 time and i have that rich ,lush , second guitar track , saves me a bunch of time t do other things . Works great in my band also
to really thicken up my guitar tone ( i use the 3 dub side f the pedal ) sounds like i have 3 other players behind me . ALL I CAN SAY TC IS ROCK ON ON with this new pedal ( well worth the money )

TC MIMIQ

Great little pedal for the money, does what it claims to do. Has true bypass, with no hums or hisses of any kind! Would have given it 4 stars, but it doesn't include a power adapter, which is fair enough, since it clarifies that in the description ou can read before you purchase, and the price is very reasonable.

Just what I needed

By German from Texas on January 2, 2017

I always used stereo delays and stereo chorus to achieve this effect, but I always thought that it was a waste knowing that I needed those effects for other things. This pedal is simple and it does what it says.

Fun to jam with, but that's about it.

I ended up selling this pedal elsewhere after owning and using it for about a year. It was fun to mess around with, but never really satisfied the double effect I was looking for. I also should mention that I use midi pedals more often than not, so this turned out to not fit my needs that well.

did not ring the cow bell for me

By Paul from N Dallas on January 31, 2017

sent mine back, increased the volume of my tone but added a weird phase artifact that just messed w my sound and that was after the upgrade. Apparently some love this pedal but did not do anything for me. My sound was better without it and I sort of thought it did better on cleans than dist myself. Anyway was not a keeper for me.

TCE Mimiq

By Bob breckenkamp from VA on August 15, 2021 Music Background: Touring guitarist for Tony Jackson

I am completely puzzled by all of the glowing reviews. I worked with it for about 30 minutes before the extremely annoying massive volume drop when the pedal is engaged won that battle. Will be packed up and returned pro, ptly.

This thing sounds Bad!!

By Sweetwater Customer on February 6, 2018 Music Background: Studio Musician

I am sorry to say that the Mimiq is the only disappointment for me from the newest pedal lineup from TC Electronic....the sound is very strange and compressed when you dial up the effect...i have to spin the Dry knob all the way over clockwise to get a descent tone.....not good at all....the Waves Doubler plugin sounds much better by miles... (for those of you working in the studio as I am) than the Mimiq does with a huge myriad of programmable options and presets to choose from...pass on this one.

Two failures in a row.

By Sweetwater Customer on November 19, 2021

The first one was dead out of the box, the replacement from TC Electronic just failed. Granted, it lasted three years and 18 days, but I would expect a new one will fail right after the three year warranty as well.

Not a "pro" quality product at all. This is the first pedal I have ever had fail on me in 32 years of playing guitar - and it's never been stepped on; always switched on and off by hand.

It sounded great while it worked, but I won't be replacing it.
