What I always needed
For many years, I was using an overdrive pedal to kick my Soldano SLO a bit for solos. However, I was using long cable runs and always wished that I could leave my overdrive on( SD1 or TS808). However, for riffs/rhythm playing, I did not like the sound when the OD pedal was on. Since getting this pedal, I set the gain for about 3 o'clock, and I just always leave it on. Leads sing for days, and for riffs and rhythms I can work my volume knob for the amount of kick I need. Makes my Soldano sing, but doesn't alter the tone with that mid bump or oversaturation of an OD pedal left on after the solo. This is an always on pedal.....turn it off and you loose something. Adds that slight sparkle and push that I always wanted. Makes sure your amp gets the hot signal it needs, even after long cable runs. LOVE THIS.
Exactly what I wanted
With the gain set at around 1:00 it's a great clean boost, turn it to eleven and it adds a little dirt to the sound along with boost.
Works as advertised
I just needed something to give a boost to my acoustic amp when doing a lead/break. This does the trick at an affordable price.
Wonderful Used as a Boost
Paired with my Fender Bassbreaker 45, into the front end, it gets me that extra gain I need. It also improves all sound overall in a way that has me leaving it always-on. If you have this pedal on for a while, then turn it off and listen to what your amp sounds like on its own, you'll hear what I mean. I also love the one-knob configuration. Sure, they make a different model with tone controls, but doesn't your amp have an EQ? Just throw this in front of what you've got going on, and you'll get an improved sound. That's been my experience, anyway.
It does what it says it does.
I got this thing to push my tube amp into breakup territory without having to crank the volume. It worked!, just barely, the second I rolled off on any volume knob, just a smidge, it cleaned up. But that has more to do with my amps low gain tubes, it has high headroom, so when you put this micro amp in front of an amp like that you're gonna get a big volume swell first. However if you have gain-y tubes like 12AX7's with EL84's, it'll work better to give you breakup sooner. But ya basically it's nothing more than a signal boost, Like cranking your volume knob on your amp or guitar, except your doing it with a foot stomp. It sounded transparent or "clean" to me. But of course, if you crank the gain knob on this thing you will get accompanying hiss and hum, and lose the subtlety of the overtones. But that's just part of the nature of signal degradation when you apply gain stages. Can't be helped. One the plus side you gain presence and fatness to your tone.
It's Built solid and is bigger then you'd expect for doing such a simple little job. IMPORTANT. It does not come with a battery (9V) or an adapter, so have one of those on standby when you order one.
Great for boost and a bit more bite
Gives a substantial amount of boost and dirt for my amplifier and is overall a great product

Great Boost
This pedal does great to add a bit more volume/gain without changing my tone too much. Works great with my blues driver and a clean sound to stick out a bit during solos.

This pedal truly is the holy Grail of boost pedals! All it really does is take your existing tone to the next level and beyond, however far you want to take it. You"ll soloing will never be lost in the mix ever again. So simple to use, and with the ability to adjust the volume by foot with the rubber knob cover, really makes it very user-friendly. Great for boosting clean sounds to get just the right sound. Highly Recommended.
MXR Micro Amp
I first encountered this effect watching Tim Pierce use it in his studio. It provides that extra push to drive the amp into tone heaven. I've only had for one day and I can say it doesn't color the guitar sound but boosts the gain, which is adjustable, to bring the amp into that sweet spot for soloing. I love it. Jerry

I should say perfect for my rig. I tried a bunch of more expensive boost pedals and this one beats them all out. I love the sound of my amp and this pedal gives me a little more of the same sound when I need it.
Works great in front or in the loop.
Great pedal. Quiet & deliver's perfect clean boost.
Added in the front of my pedal board and adjusted so I can engage it with my Strat & have even output level with my LP. My pedals really like the boosted signal too.
Simple is good.
One knob, no coloration, unity gain was minimal setting and so it is easy to set the lead boost level.

I use this on my bass for solos, and it gives me a nice, clean boost on my signal to up my volume.

This pedal was just what I was looking for. I needed to be able to give my leads a little boost and this is the one. Real adjustable. From 0 to max there 's gonna be a setting that is right for you.

Great little booster! Solid construction,easy set up,simple volume setting for a quick one time hi/low sound check that lasts your whole show. Foot switch means no more hurried hand fumbling with guitar knobs during your performance.Powered by single 9 volt for on stage simplicity or (opt) plug in converter for practice time.I put mine straight into a Digitech VL3 harmonizer with no issues and great added dbs when I need them. This is a quality product worth every penny I paid for it.
Dunlop MXR Non-blog Blog
I like Dunlop MXR because it effectively makes my instrument louder real quick and doesn't take up much real estate and it has a good battery life. I would like to compare it to a similar product called Lizard Legs because of claims that their product will produce an even cleaner (less compression) volume boost.
