Compact Convenient Design

I really like the short form factor, and the belt clip means that it can be worn similarly to a wireless body pack, in combination with a longer XLR cable. Seems smart. I'm a little bit worried that the clip is plastic, but only time will tell if that will actually be a weak point. I've heard that the MiCon cables are fragile, but I'm hoping that it won't be a problem for me, because it has a high-end look and feel - conceptually, it's a great design.

I considered knocking off a star because of the price and that plastic clip, but if the MiCon connector and the clip hold up well over time, then at some point the price will be justified. And this is arguably the most elegant way to achieve a hard-wired XLR connection with a credible lav mic. Other famous manufacturers have adapters that are much larger, or worse yet, permanently wired into the middle of the mic cable. Some even call their interfaces "compact", but Rode seems like the clear winner in terms of form factor, while also providing a path to make any of their MiCon-equipped microphones compatible with 11 different interfaces.
