On-Stage MS9701TB+ Heavy-Duty Tele-Boom Mic Stand
On-Stage MS9701TB+ Heavy-Duty Tele-Boom Mic Stand Reviews
The On-Stage Stands MS9701TB mic stand gives you the reliability you need, plus the light weight and portability you want. The MS9701TB features folding legs that provide a stable base, while allowing for easy storage and transport. This stand is built tough for the road or the studio, using thicker tubing and a heavier die-cast leg housing for heavy-duty performance. You can adjust the height between 36" and 64", and its telescoping boom adjusts from 19" to 30" to suit your needs. If you want durable, dependable performance from your microphone stand, choose the On-Stage Stands MS9701TB.
Heavy Duty Boom Stand
I was surprised to see how sturdy this mic stand is. My last mic stand, only a couple of years old, cost twice as much and was light weight and the extender leaver broke off. I had to duck tape it to get through the gig. Instead of trying to replace the parts, I decided to just fork out for a new one. $ dollars! Great price and sturdy as heck! Also, the knobs are threaded, no leavers that snap and break. Fantastic buy for the money!
Better than expected
Very strong and sturdy mic stands. These days with the quality of most products not being what they say they are I wasn't expecting much but needed them fast. Was very surprised how goos these are. Definitely will buy again.
Heavy Duty
Love these. The only thing I hate is that it's fairly easy to lose the little thumb screws. I use this for all my gigs.
Solid but flexible micstand
I now have 3 of these stands and use them every week at our long running Tuesday Jam. I get positive comments all the time from the other musicians at the jam on how solid they are and all the adjustments to them that are available I am very pleases with them.
Too popular mic stands.
These heavy duty stands are so popular that several musicians at the local Jam I host every week commented on them and one of the two I had has now disappeared. I did reorder.
GREAT!
Great stands at a great price!! Bought the 4 stand bundle.
Great mic stand
If you're a drummer and have problems with your mic stand falling over from over extension and abnormal weight distribution, this stand is for you. Strong, sturdy, and does not fall over, even when fully extended with a Sennheiser e835 on it. Highly recommend this stand.
Great until the base bolt strips.
The wing bolt that secures the bottom of the tripod stripped, and now it's in a pile along with old mic stands that aren't supported by their manufacturers.
I've tried to find a replacement bolt with no luck. If On Stage would sell the part, it would extend the life of the stand.
Very heavy duty
I can hang my violin from this stand, while playing other instruments, with confidence. Very heavy duty
I Wanted to Love It So Bad!!
Thereʻs so much potential in this mic stand! It has great weight, so itʻs perfect for studio or a windy day at an outdoor gig. The only thing I noticed right off the bat was that the boom didn't sit tight. You can grab it and wiggle it around just a little bit. Not a huge deal breaker, but for $, itʻs kinda off-putting. About a year later, the tightening knob at the bottom stripped quite easily. I never over-tightened it or put this mic stand through any strain. I baby my gear. At $, itʻs hard to say I would buy it again. I rather get something that
Spent more money for this, but definitely not professional grade.
want fall over
great product good weight
Mic stands
Solid stands. A bit more expensive than most (for a reason). Heavy, good hardware, solid clutches.
knobs do NOT tighten!
To extend the boom, the knobs do NOT tighten!
Very good, affordable mic boom stand
I've found this stand to be one of the best affordable heavy-duty boom stands available. It's rugged, well designed, and very reliable. The only issue I've encountered is that sometimes the tilt clutch doesn't hold the boom firmly at the set angle, allowing the boom to sag. I've had to take one apart and clean mold release off the rubber friction pads to get it to stay in position. But on the whole, it's a reliable piece of gear.
I shoulda bought some of these sooner!
Sturdy, and ready for anything
exactly what I needed
heavy, but sturdy and reliable. perfect mic stand for an affordable price
Dependable, well-made
This is a very good product for the money. Fittings are not mushy like some of the junk out there. The weight is moderate enough to stand as a medium boom for live playing or studio, but not so ridiculously heavy in transport.
Well-designed heavy-duty stand
I needed to replace one of our older, cheaper mic stands and wanted something durable. I compared a number of stands and settled on this one, largely because it was heavy-duty and the price was reasonable. I'm not disappointed. It has a very solid feel, and the feet have a wide spread for stability. Highly recommended.
Heavyweight boom stand
This isn't the ordinary boom stand that I've purchased before; it will actually stay "standing" when a microphone is placed on it.
really well built
Surprisingly high quality for the price. Very stable once they are set up.
heavy duty mic stand
Great piece of equipment. Using it to mic a piano with two condenser mics with a double mic holder. Stable and easy to use.
More for the money
Very impressed with this stand at a low price. Versatile and sturdy. Lots of cable clips. 5 point adjustable stand. Mic can be mounted without the boom that is a plus. Thank you Sweetwater.
Best Mic Boom Stand hands down
Thank you Sweetwater for carrying the On-Stage MS9701GB heavy duty tele- boomstand. It is perfect for my needs. Sturdy, not wobbly assisting in my creating a great vocal recording. I highly recommend it.
life time !
If I had purchased this stand years ago, I would not have needed to purchase this stand ...
Dare I say indestructible ?? Yes Yes Yes ... own with this kinda confidence
Upscale On-Stage
I needed a sturdier mic stand for my home studio. This stand can handle a standard LDC mic gracefully.
Rugged quality
I thought that with large diaphragm condensers weighing a bit over a pound I could get away with the MS7701TB's. Not so! They are fine for mics under half a pound (even then, there are limits). So I traded (thanks, Sweetwater - Kurt Cripe!) for these 9701TB's. WOW! Difference was night and day. The mics are now rock steady, the knobs and all fittings are first rate, and I am in full swing with live recording. Take it from me, these are high quality, and worth every penny for the upgrade.
Not a durable Boom
Boom keeps falling, doesn't stand its place. the legs are collapsible individually and don't hold the stand all the time.
The boom fell (with the mic) 3 times realizing I need sandbags to hold this stand down. Quite a liability :-(
good steel product
as advertised, heavy duty. 8 LBS of steel
The Right Product
I was looking for a heavy duty stand to use over my drum kit for recording and stage audio. This stand filled the need at a reasonable price point. thanks On-Stage.
Stand-Up!
I needed to get a new mic stand. My old one would no longer grip at the base and it teetered when I set it up. So, I looked at Sweetwater's vast selection of mic stands. There were a lot of good ones, but my eyes glazed over with the breadth of the selection. I asked me Sales Engineer, Randy Poteet, to select one for me that was solid, durable, and a good value. As usual, he hit the nail-on-the-head! I love this new stand. It's considerably heavier than my old one. It adjusts to any position I need. Basically, it does the job it's intended to do. I'd highly recommend the MS97701TB+ Heavy-Duty Tele-Boom Mic Stand.
On stage heavy duty tele boom mic stand
Just what it claims
Very heavy weight. Nice boom and knobs.
Pro.
Solidly built, but SO heavy!
This is a great mic stand, solidly made, but so very heavy! It's great if you are keeping it in one place, but adding it to an already-heavy inventory of equipment being lugged to and from gigs, it just has too much weight. Would likely not have purchased it, had I been able to feel its weight.
Solid mic stand
Was looking for a solidly-built mic stand with a telescopic boom. My only complaint so far is the weight of the stand. Had I seen it in person, I may have not chosen this particular one. But I will make it work.
MS9701TB Mic Stand
This is a heavy mic stand that will not fall over easily. If you have ever had your mic stand fall over on stage you will appreciate this one. It holds my mic and a 8 x 10 tablet and is very stable whether standing or sitting. You wont be disappointed!
Horrible Stand - Unsafe
This is, easily, the worst stand I've ever owned. Yeah, it's heavy, but it falls apart all the time -- everything has to be screwed in and comes apart way too easily and then only spins and spins trying to put it back together. I wouldn't put anything on this stand I cared about keeping and I'd never use it on a gig... When it fails (and it will) you'll be stuck borrowing a stand from someone else to finish the gig.
Sweet visit to sweetwater
Great service. Great presentations. Awesome to see Eric Johnson up close, (my wife loved that part). Got my "stuff" while there, two boom mic stands, two sure 58s, two presonus monitors, and several things shipped out which I've received. Great time!! Can't wait till next year!! Thanks
On-Stage Stand
MS 97 01TB+ the item was sensationally delivered and used.

Heavy duty!
Rugged, heavy duty mic stand! Holds up to the rigors of "the road"! Very pleased.
Only negative would be that it slips slightly when boomed out all the way, with a heavier mic. But hoping it just needs a little break-in time!
Very disappointing
It is a HEAVY stand....not sure about heavy duty - the small screw that tightens to hold the tripod legs no longer snugs them up after less than 10 shows - the stand looks brand new - no scratches or anything but is now pretty worthless. If you left this set up (in a church or something) it would be ok - if you are setting up and tearing down regularly - Pay a few $ more and get something that will last
Heavy duty
Need something heavy duty to hold my heavy microphone at an angle. This stand is really great!
On Stage mic stand
Not much to really say here. It's a mic stand. It does have some weight to it which is good.
I play in weekend bars, it works well.
Review On-Stage Stands MS9701TB+ Heavy-Duty Tele-Boom Mic Stand
The stands seem to be built very well for the price. Much heavier build quality than the stands I am replacing. Thanks to Dan VanAmerongen for his assistance in choosing the stands.
On-Stage Mic Stands.
I used 2 of them for holding up my sheet music and holding up the mics at different settings with the different types of positions with their boom that has 3 adjustment settings for me to work with.
Very nice
This is probably the best stand in this price range. It is a durable- well built stand. One noticeable difference with this stand is that it is much heavier than the higher end stands. I bought 2 of theses and would not hesitate to buy more. I am very happy w/this purchase.
The Tank of Mic Stands
This mic stand was part of a microphone bundle and was blown away when it arrived. For what I paid for the entire package I thought this would be a flimsy, lightweight piece that I would have to replace quickly. I was wrong. This mic stand has weight. Not too heavy, but you can tell it's well built. Ease of use and lots of options to put the mic exactly where you need it.
Nice Mic Stand
I have one of those 12 year old stands with the heavy cast base, and this stand is much nicer, more flexible, and has a longer boom arm. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 stars for two reasons: the center thread that attaches the boom arm is a pretty fine thread and the boom arm is somewhat unwieldy when screwing it on, so do it slowly to avoid possibly starting to cross thread the threads and the center snugger for the height adjustment seems to work much better when the top cross arm is attached, unlike my old one that will snug with or without the cross arm attached. All in all, if I need another stand in the future, I would buy another one of these.
Well made, sturdy boom Mic.
I've entrusted this stand with my Neumann 147 tube.
a really heavy duty stand
incredible value, and really rugged stand. feels like a pro stand
High mass, low quality
I heard great things about this stand, so I bought it. Upon arrival, I was impressed with the solid feel and stability, however that was all short lived. After a month of regular use, the clutch broke, mid-setup. I have seen more durability from stands half this price. If you want quality, go for a K&M. If you're on a budget, stick to a cheaper, lighter-weight stand. Stay away from this one, it is not a very good design.
Great stand
I bought this to use while playing drums. I've tried other stands, but this one is very sturdy and I love the telescoping boom to adjust to wherever I need it.
Very Good Stand
This is a very good stand, and heavily made. "9 lbs of steel" is written on the box it came in. I find it very sturdy, and the quality looks to be top flight. It seems to be quite large when employed, but it folds up into a very small, easy to manage size for storage, or transportation. I recommend it to anyone who needs a boom stand. I might buy another soon!
The best.
Excellent for live performance. I recommend it.
Finally
Finally found a mic stand heavy enough to actually stand up. Good tough construction.
Great Stand !
Heavy duty and stable. Extends to proper position no matter where it's placed.
Not sure why its called 'heavy-duty'
If this is supposed to be the 'heavy-duty' stand from on-stage stands I would hate to see their regular ones. It would be great for live use but it is highly insufficient in the studio, especially if you're putting any weight on it (like a reflexion filter)
Seems solid - tip for installing the boom
Just got 2 of these and they seem like they're going to work great. I was having some trouble threading the boom on to the stand and was afraid I'd cross thread it. My solution was to put a little petroleum jelly on the the threaded part of the stand, and then the boom went on really smoothly without worry of cross threading.
Decent stand for the money
Overall this mic stand is decent. It offers multiple adjustments that allow you to angle a microphone in precise areas. Unfortunately I've experienced the same problems as a previous reviewer. When fully extending the boom or hanging a microphone horizontally the arm will sag quickly. This is after very little use, practically brand new. I plan on buying a more expensive stand to accomplish longer arm microphone positioning.
On-stage Stand ms9701tb
The ms9701tb was a pleasant surprise. Very affordable, rugged and easy to set up. It has a nice wide tripod base that's very stable and when you get everything positioned the way you want, it doesn't'creep.' I would reccomend this microphone stand to any musician whether beginner or professional.
Good stand if you do not need full extension
I purchased 2 of these stands over a year ago . They have worked ok except that at full extension when I come back after setting them a couple hours later the mic is now on the key board instead of in the air. I have been pulling wrenches for 36 year and can't get the clutches tight enough to stay up if i pull any harder they are going to break or strip the threads.
Great Mic stand and boom
This mic stand is so easy to use, I wonder why I didn't buy it sooner! It sits out of the way when not in use, and swings right out when I need it! Doesn't sag, and holds my mic right where I want it. Now it's easier to focus on the music, the sound, the experience, and the feel of my songs without having to wonder why doesn't this mic stay in place. I bought this to go along with a newer mic from Sweetwater, and it is serving me well! If only it had a music stand, and could turn the pages........
