You know you REALLY want to "Lay It Down"
First off, a shoutout to my Sales Engineer, Nate Brown for making this guitar into a TOTAL BEAST! Ratt was the first metal concert I went to some 35 years ago. As such, Warren DeMartini was one of my guitar heroes. I had mine Pelk'd and it was definitely worth it. The photos on Sweetwater do not do this guitar justice, and it plays even better than it looks. The compound radius neck makes playing chord easy, while allowing for blistering leads. The Seymour Duncan pickups scream when overdrive is kicked in yet produces excellent clean tones as well. I cannot put this guitar down! In short, I'm a satisfied owner and a Sweetwater customer for life!
Dqmn nice guitar
Kinda bought this one on a whim just because. It stacks up with my evh and esp if not better than them.
What I do what to say is that there was a small issue with the neck. I didn't think much of it but tech service and CJ went above and beyond to take care of me. The whole experience went from oh crap to not having to worry about it at all. Kinda earned my loyalty with that
Wicked Smooth
I picked up this beast recently and couldn't be more pleased with it. The neck is effortless and baby smooth. The pickups are great and ready to scream on command. This is guitar #13 for me and is easily my new "go to" axe when it's time to crank out some classic 80s metal!
Lay it down with the Demartini Charvel-dream come true!
Growing up an official 80s teenager, Ratt and Warren DeMartini were my favorite hard rock band. Been playing rock guitar for 35 years myself. After buying the rocket red Charvel So Cal from Sweetwater in May of 2018, I finally decided to go all out and by the DEMO DeMartini the week of Halloween. My sales engineer Chris Kress continues to provide me with the finest online customer service & prices. Chuck Surack has been informed of his most excellent employee there! The neck of the guitar is smooth and gorgeous with it's speckled wood grain. The matte paint finish is great-don't have to worry about keeping a glossy shine there. We all wish it had a pur steel Floyd Rose (which it should for $1400) but it stays in tune just fine. Best of all of course is the heart & soul of the guitar with it's Seymour Duncan pickups. The quarter pounder by the neck is all you'd expect it to be for that "Nobody Rides For Free" tone ala Neal Schon "Lights" tone. But the icing on this cake is the RTM DeMartini bridge pickup-really nails the tone I just love in rock guitar. I'm from the Chicago area like Warren and hope to meet him someday - Love it!!!
One sweet ride
Got this a few months back and love it. Comes with the FRT 1000 but still rocks. Neck/ build quality is top notch. RTM pick up is versatile and very responsive. Body is not painted, it is a graphic but very well done and durable. There is texture to it. Love it
Always wanted one...
Always wanted one and finally got it. This guitar is awesome! It screams 80's! If I would've had this axe when I was a teenager I'd probably be famous by now. And Sweetwater is the best place to get it. They even threw in a really nice Gator gig bag at no extra charge. I'll be a customer for life... bottom line...
Good Quality Solid Shredding Guitar!
When I pulled this guitar out of the box it felt solid. The neck felt nice in my hands. It feels like a really well made guitar. I've owned lots of guitars over the years, some feel klunky, but this one was solid and nice! Then I plugged it in and put it through it's paces. The rear humbucker, a Seymour Duncan RTM(Rattus Tonus Maximus) sounds like everything you'd want to rock. It has a very brown sound meets George Lynch kind of sound. It responds well to power chords, nice tight punchiness, good harmonics. Exactly what I was looking for and expecting. The Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder in the neck sounds nice too, jangly. Perfect for songs like, Journey's 'Lights'. I immediately ripped into the Lights solo when I flipped it to the Quarter Pounder. Perfect! The Paint Job is impressive too. It has a slight textured feel to it's not slick. Also, the Korean Made Floyd Rose stayed in tune through all of the tremolo dives too. All in all this guitar is going to be one of my favorites to play for a long time, and it looks cool too!
Snake in the case!
So far this guitar is Amazing and must be seen in person to truly see how killer the Snake finish is, also I highly recommend buying a case to have it Shipped in, If you ask Sweetwater will put it in the case and have guitar arrive ready to play straight out of the case, here's a video of how my arrived and I put DTuna on mine not sure if Sweetwater will do that for you! Case I got is Amazing
Charvel Snake
I've been playing this for about a month and I'm liking it more and more each day. Love the maple finger board, great tone from the pickups thru my Marshall amp. The body is exactly as my Jackson, which I love and the snake skin finish is very bitchen. I never thought I would buy a signature guitar but I am glad I did. The only negative thing would be the string action was a bit high when I got it but its a easy fix.
Dinky, but shreds!
Chris Neyman is my sweetwater sales rep. Insane the great deals he has given me. This guitar rips. Neck is slimmer than Charvel pro mod necks. But very comfortable. Pick-ups are great sounding, both single coil and humbucking. This guitar sounds unique compared to my two pro mod charvels. The paint design is awesome, a matte feeling to the texture of it. Only complaint was the neck was not finished off sanding, is rough in one area by the locking nut. Stays in tune fine. I put a d tuna on it, and you know what that means!!! Get it!
Way Cool Jr
Being a Blues Rock guy and mostly a Fender Stratocaster, Gibson Les Paul and SG player I see a need and use for this guitar. The snakeskin camo paint job is just icing on the cake. That's a classic Blues and R&R folklore and mojo dream come true. Ratt had many great songs and hits in their day. Way Cool Jr was the special one that borrowed heavily from the Blues. I love this guitar and it sounds great!
Warren DeMartini
Love this guitar! Pictures don't do it justice, looks better in person. Only reason I gave it 4.5 instead of 5.0 is because it doesn't come with a case.
Good clean 80's crunch. Ratt 'n Roll
Great guitar
Looks, feels and plays like a custom shop guitar.I should know because I own a few custom shop guitars and now this Charvel is my main guitar.Sweetwater set it up perfect including the "E flat" tuning.
Super guitar
I have seen reviews of this guitar with manufacturer flaws such as the route for the truss rod adjuster being off center and faulty electronics. I was fortunate enough to get one with no flaws and absolutely love the guitar. The one piece neck with no attached fretboard was a bit alien to me but I quickly grew to like it. I swapped out the bridge for an 1984 OFR and added a DTuna. The custom bridge pickup is nice. It has a fat tone, but not as tight and punchy as I really like. The quarter pounder in the bridge is great for more bluesy type tones. I always get compliments on it wherever we play and it definitely draws attention. My only complaints for this guitar is that for the money, it should have an OFR installed as well as a case.
My new workhorse!
Always wanted a maple neck guitar. And now I have it. Perfect setup right out of the box. Got it on a Thursday and played it that weekend. Lots of compliments on the looks and especially how it sounded. I gave it a 4 because it did not come with a case. Had to get the Gator hardshell. Perfect match. Thanks Sweetwater for the fast delivery! Go get one now!!!
Specs are wrong and misleading.
I bought this thinking it came with the same Floyd Rose bridge as the other Charvel Pro Mods the FR-1000. However, I was wrong. The Demartini Pro Mods now come equipped with the cheap sub standard Floyd Rose special. Instead of being made of hardened steel like those made in Germany, this unit is made of zinc alloy and commonly found on guitars costing half as much.
