bamboo is not taboo
after looking over all available formats, i picked this one because it is not plastic or wood but bamboo. thus it will not rot and is easy on the lips. i have not played harmonica in 30 years, but suddenly i can play it immediately. amazing!

Marine Band Crossover
Yes it is a very nice harmonica. My only disappointment is that I expected it to be an upgrade to my Hohner Orchestra Vereins-Harmonika. It isn't. similar to play and the sound is identical. The Vereins Harmonika is about 50 years old although mine is in mint condition. I could not find any history on the Vereins and it may be that the Crossover is its successor. Both seem to be quality instruments and a pleasure to play.
Easy Play
The crossover is a nice harp. Mine was in tune right out of the box. Seals tight with no air leaks. Capable of giving you the tone your looking to play. I would buy again.
Hohner "Marine Band: Crossover"harmonica
I am completely blown away with the two Hohner "Marine Band: Crossover" harmonicas that I purchased. They are of superb quality, and I anticipate that they will last for many years. Unlike the typical Hohner "Marine Band", the "Crossover" has a bamboo reed, which will never warp, and unlike the typical wood reed, the bamboo reed isn't sensitive to varying climates Further, as with all of my purchases from Sweetwater, I had a superb customer service experience. I only/I will only buy gear from Sweetwater, and I recommend Sweetwater to ALL of my fellow musician friends.
Crossover Harps
Started with a Hohner Special 20 in the key of "C". Became interested in adding a few keys to the arsenal but wasn't sure whether to buy the Hohner Crossover, or the Manji 20 or the Seydel.
I'm sure they are all good harps but decided to stay within the Hohner family but wanted a higher quality instrument beyond the Special 20 series.
So I purchased the Hohner Crossover in the key of "G" and another in the key of "A". Love the growl sound in first position on the G harmonica. Appears to be of a good quality with a nice sound and easy to bend.
Crossover Harp
I have to say up front that I am not a Harp player and not a professional. That said I have a very good ear for tone and a good feel for value. I have owned and still own, other Harmonicas in several keys including some upper crust Lee Oscar harps. These are arguably Harps of great tone and are very playable including being very user friendly when it comes to bending notes. The Honer Marine Band Crossover is the easiest to play including bends, and I would say the best tone available to me of all the Harmonicas I have. I can sound very good playing this harp even with the mistakes I make, simply because of the great tone and the price is not prohibitive. Buy it and you will thank me for this review. That is all I have to say. Enjoy!
