Ok so I scored this for a fraction of the price which I cannot divulge however let me hereby be known that insofar as a Converter/interface this (and avid really doesn"t make these Digital Audio Denmark are the brains behind this and that"s great because frankly I think avids past interferes were lousy to make an understatement even though yes it"s true I loved the 16x16 I/O too but folks the Converter quality is so ahead of anything else you need to beg, borrow but don"t steal till you have invested in something that will last decades in my crazy opinion. Also because I have only eight analog inputs and outputs (not counting AES or any Digital I/O) I can easily construct my studio with channels 1/2 Stereo Output channel 3/4 Vocals ch 5/6 electric guitars 7/8 bass guitars and these are all miked with a ribbon and a tube condenser mic some awesome others just average. Even better I don"t need an S3 rather just an avid dock and an artist mix because it"s just eight channels. I"m running a black grace design m905 Digital and analog > AES snake cable > into the Dsub of the matrix. Let me reiterate that avid is really a software company so since DAD basically designed it they just put the Avid name on it. And even if you own even a 192 I/O or something ancient don"t fret, you should be grateful but I"m here to tell you the matrix is literally the best converters and interface in existence and believe me they"ll keep these suckers around for a long time. Also the price will no doubt drop. I was extremely fortunate to get this for such a low price I cannot say anymore but surf the internet and do your diligence on these matters. Finally Avid or rather DAD has put out humanity"s best pro audio interface to be on the earth.
