3.5" Padded Right Height Leather Guitar Strap with RipChord Adjustment and Contoured Leather Ends - Black

Trying to find the perfect strap length has long frustrated musicians, but the Levy’s MRHGP-BLK Right Height Guitar Strap makes adjusting your instruments quicker than ever before. The 3-1/2-inch-wide padded strap’s RipChord technology lets you rapidly adjust the strap while you’re wearing it — a feature that gigging musicians at Sweetwater can’t praise enough. To adjust the strap, just reach for the reinforced pull tab and pull down for a tighter fit or up for and looser one. Along with contoured leather ends, this strap has comfortable Italian garment leather on both sides. Plus, each Right Height strap is made with care by Levy’s in Nova Scotia, Canada, so you can trust it’s a quality product built to withstand countless years of gigs.

Does well what it was designed to

By W. from Northern Virginia
Music Background: Worship band

A top quality strap that does what it was designed for. I found the texture of the leather on both sides is just right. I play a 10 lb Les Paul and that weight combined with the texture of the inner leather keeps the guitar where I want it, yet it readily slides wherever I want. The adjustable function works well, but I just don't use it as I expected. It's great that you can make large or small strap length changes very quickly. I have ended up just have it as short as it will go all the time, so I'll be buying the similar Levy's strap (padded, 3 1/2" width) with just regular "ladder" style adjustments. Some reviewers mention the foam padding is too stiff, but I found this lasted only a couple of weeks. I stored the strap off the guitar and rolled up during a break-in period. Very comfortable. I have a wider 5" strap I had used on a P-bass but found this strap on the same instrument actually supports better. Can't explain why.
The overall comfort has made me a repeat customer.

Best strap in the whole world!

By Michael P. from Central Florida

I liked this strap so much, that I bought another one. I have a '76 Les Paul Custom, and it is the heaviest guitar that I've ever played. I love the sound of it, and how it plays. It hurts me now to play it for an hour....I'm 70 years old. This strap is so soft, so wide, and so versatile...I love the height adjustment! I don't know yet which guitar will get the 2nd one....Thanks to Levy's for an incredible product.

Comfort and quality

By Nate

This replaced a standard ~2" strap that I was using for my 8 string guitar that weighs around 10 to 12 lbs. This strap has definitely made the guitar comfortable to carry, between the width of the strap and the padding. The quick adjust is awesome, also! Not so much necessary, but absolutely convenient since each time I carry the guitar I feel a little different about how I want it to hang. A quick slight adjustment is just a pull away. Love it!

Levy’s Right Height guitar strap

By Sweetwater Customer from New England

A very good Idea! The 3.5" width is just what I need to keep heavy instruments from digging into my shoulder when I play standing up. I was a bit disappointed that there isn't just one more notch to raise by, so I'm still using a sheepskin pad. Since I'm a short Adult, I wonder what children use when they're not used to the weight of a heavy instrument. My estimation of "heavy" is still less than a Fender Precision Bass ( 9+ lbs.), but time standing seems to add weight in the long run.

Can't get it to work properly on my acoustic guitars

By Lewis L. from RANCHO MIRAGE, CA

I have tried to get this to work with a Martin I have but it's not working. First, the pin/jack isn't long enough for the strap to fit on snugly. Securing the larger and wider end of the strap to the pin by the neck simply makes the guitar nose-dive. Finally, attaching as the video recommends makes it impossible to adjust the strap while wearing unless you can dislocate your right arm to reach the adjustable portion of the strap.

Overall not great

By Shane B.
Music Background: Bass player

The ripcord adjustment is a cool idea that worked relatively well so it get two stars. The rest kind of sucks. The shoulder pad is uncomfortable and the claim it has some padding but calling it padded is being generous. The leather portion also stops short IMO and leaves the metal connector for the ripcord portion in an uncomfortable spot. Way overpriced for what you get.

Best strap yet

By Sweetwater Customer

First of all, the strap does exactly what it says it will do: it easily adjusts longer or shorter while you are wearing it and playing. It's made of several layers of heavy duty leather and quite wide so my 9 pound Les Paul feels feather light. Yes, it's a bit pricey but well-made and should last for years and years.

Have Not Gone Back To Any Other Strap

By Ed C. from Niagara Falls, NY
Music Background: Semi-Pro Studio Musician

Full disclosure, I own several different Levy straps including 2 of these.

I'm very picky about my equipment and loved these straps. I needed something that I could quickly adjust to the finest detail. The position of my bass is dictated by my stance. For example, I wear my bass slightly higher when sitting verses standing. Also depending what I'm sitting on, I may need to adjust the strap.

Fixed positioned straps take too long to adjust and buckle straps can sometimes be awkward. This strap is easy and can be adjusted on the fly with only one hand.

The width of the strap and the thickness of material use make wearing my basses very easy on my back. I have Fender Precision & Jazz basses, along with a Spector NS Dimension and a Dingwall Combustion, to give you an example on how heavy my basses are.

Again, Levy is pricey, but I do think they are well worth it if you don't mind spending a little more.

My New Favorite Strap, Too!

By Antonio C. from Pacific NW
Music Background: Making Noises Akin to Music Since 1966

This was perhaps one of the best purchases so far this year. My new guitar arrived with Schaller strap lock buttons installed and the locks and other parts in a plastic bag. Decided to go with a new strap for the new guitar, and after looking around at what Sweetwater carried in leather straps, I liked the idea of simple adjustments on the fly, and this strap does just that.

Leather is a bit on the stiff side, so give it some time or work on it to make it more flexible.

Literally the best strap. Would be nice to see wider sizes, material, styles. Will be buying more.

Fantastic strap for heavy guitars

By David M. from MO

Finally got a Les Paul style guitar that weighs close to 10 pounds. I was very pleasantly surprised how comfortable the strap was, even after standing for much longer than I normally do. No soreness at all!

New favorite strap

By Chris from Omaha

Simple on the fly adjustment! No need to remove strap locks to shorten or lengthen strap through loops. Super comfortable and seems extremely durable! The price is daunting but I have zero regrets!
