Hear what you're missing
After my entry level first set of monitors failed after many years, I picked these up. Wow. Sure you can learn your monitors and make great mixes, but I've learned now with these its great to learn on something that can reproduce well. Great purchase, the switches on the back are an simple way to tune the monitors. Much lighter than my previous monitors and less power but so much better.
GREAT STUDIO MONITOR
This is a must to have for a radio station and studio of our time.Enjoy the clarity and effective output and performance. Is the best
What a deal!
I was ready to shell out for the big brother of these monitors. Then I saw the ad and the specs and had to give them a shot. Glad I did. I wasn't expecting these to blow my mind but they did just that. Big is a word I'd put to describe the sound. It's clean and deep at the same time. Separation is wide and the sweet spot as well. I love the highs and mids as well. The bottom end for me was perfect and the adjustments in the back are so useful for getting the sound just fight. Aesthetically, they're beautiful and feel very high quality. I just can't believe these are under so inexpensive a piece! Try for yourself.
Not surprised and happy.
I bought these never knowing they existed. I was ready to lurches their big brothers but decided whey spend more when these have the goods in paper and aesthetics. Well well, these kinda blew me away! Bang for buck is not even close. I'd pay twice the amount for these babies. Imaging is perfect for my studio space which is 25'x 18'. They're almost against the padded wall and the bass response is clear thanks to adjustments on the monitors which work very well. Just the feel of these breathes quality. Mackie does it agin at a price no one can complain about. My mixes will defo be better for it and I really like the unhyped sound. It's realistic. And that's what I count on.
2 years later, still sound amazing
Bought these when I upgraded my studio 2 years ago, & till this day I do not plan on or have a need for a better monitor/subwoofer combo. Has everything I look for in sound, low end, and every frequency im capable of needing to notice. Solid piece to add to anyones setup if I do say so myself. A++
Great Monitors!
I've used a pair of these for a while now and they have performed well in my mid sized control room. They produce enough low frequency with the 8" woofer to make my mixes come out sounding closer to the "real thing". I recently added the matching sub woofer to really dig into those lows and it works well. I would have no reason to replace these any time in the near future.
Excellent clarity and transparency in mixdown.
When correctly placed and configured, these are excellent monitors for most any genre of music. Response is excellent, they are transparent to playback when testing side by side with Adams, NS10's & a Mackie HR824's.
Clarity
The only other studio monitors I have owned is a pair of JBL LSR308's. The MR824's (in comparison) are more detailed in the low and high frequency's. The mid range frequency is there, but not over powering. The JBL 308's are very mid heavy in comparison. Both are excellent monitors, but I prefer the detailed sound (and excellent stereo-field tracking clarity) of the Mackie MR824's.
Great for the price
By far the best sub $500 8 inch studio monitor I've heard. Bought these to replace my vintage JBL 4311B's as near fields, and am thoroughly impressed. Mackie has stepped their game UP. I only gave them 4.5 stars because I haven't gotten to really put them through the paces yet.
