Works great!

By Sweetwater Customer

This is great product for the price, but my only gripe is that there are not a ton of resources to teach you the complete ins and out of this specific item. The MPC studio academy will get you started well enough, but you can expect to mess around with it quite a bit to get the hang of it. If you have drive and time to learn how to use it, you will love it. If not, don't bother.

Most powerful MPC Pared with New Mac or Gaming PC

By Aaron from Omaha,NE
Music Background: Music Producer

Unlimited plugin tracks unlike hardware (I love my MPC Key more than any other gear though). FULL PADS ! Fast and intuitive for beat making. I recommend you try the MPC 3beta, it sounds much better than MPC 2.0. Comes with plenty of good drum kits for many genres. This was my first MPC in 2023 and I love it so much. It is the MVP of my software based setup.

Double trigger nightmare

By Steven L. from Amarillo Texas
Music Background: Professional noodler, guitarist, drummer and recording engineer.

I really wanted to like this product and thought that this would be perfect addition to my studio. However, the software is buggy, specifically the plug-in. Outside of my DAW I wasn't getting triggering issues but when trying to use the product within Luna, double triggering was occurring to the point the device was unusable. On top of that the doubled note/pad was the one that was getting recorded not a note from the pad I intended. Software is cumbersome, bloated, and a bit of a kluge.

On a positive note though Sweetwater was very awesome process was painless and quick. My representative Greg Savino is awesome and I will continue to use Sweetwater as my main source for professional gear.

Production Powerhouse

By Sweetwater Customer

This Along with the MPC Software has instantly become the center piece to my workstation. What used to take me days I can do in hours. Once you have a set of templates and custom kit programs created customized and saved, one can go from idea to sketch in about 20 -30!minutes or idea to fill fleshed out song in few hours. If you're not familiar with the AKAI workflow there's a slight learning curve but if it's been a part of your creative DNA from the beginning (the 90's) it's like breathing. AKAI hit it out if the park on this one.

Pretty good device. Pretty good system

By John S. from Baltimore, MD

I'm new to the world of MPC. It was recommended that I try this as an introductory kind of thing before making the plunge to the more expensive stand alone Akai MPC devices. The build is excellent. The learning curve is steeper than I expected but not terribly hard.

Just what I was looking for!

By Eamon C.

I'm new to beat making, I started out with the Akai MPK mini, and while it's great I kinda outgrew it after a few months. Seeing videos online I realized I really wanted the 16 level feature, which is great for adding 808's amongst other things. I also love the play, overdub buttons. They really speed up workflow and make the whole process more enjoyable. The pads are really responsive, and the whole unit just feels solid.

The only downside is the lack of Q-link knobs. But, I use the Q-links on my MPK, so not really an issue.

Speaking of that, this pairs nicely with the MPK mini, I still use the keyboard and Q-links on my MPK. You can also set it up to have snyth sounds on the MPK and drum sounds on the Studio at the same time.

Overall, I love this thing! I didn't really care about stand alone as I was used to working in the MPC Beats DAW anyway. The upgrade in software was also really nice, 128 midi/audio tracks? Yes please!

Highly recommend this if you're just starting out, or if you don't care about stand alone. And as always great customer service from Sweetwater!

MPC ok , but could be better

By Wayne G. from Virginia
Music Background: Music producer

The unit is ok to use when making music, but not user friendly. The mpc school needs an update and there aren't enough courses to help students. I would do a lot of research before purchasing this unit. Wish it was more user friendly.

Best MPC for Newbie's

By Kevin B. from Nashville
Music Background: singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, recording engineer, producer

I had an MPC ONE and it was just too complicated for this old dude. Thought I'd try the MPC Studio and it's perfect, especially since I do everything in the studio and don't need the sounds to be on the device itself. I can do everything with this one, actually more because of the simpler workflow. Highly recommended, especially if your new to this area of electronic music.

Feel and work Like the Old Hardware

By Brian

The tuning is awesome and accurate! You can tune a sample down a key by 1. The sample chopping and edit is on point. Only downside for me is trying to figure out the short cuts on the device! Awesome addition to the studio!

Awesome Addition to my studio

By Darryl F. from WINTER HAVEN, FL
Music Background: Engineer, Producer & DJ

I received my AKai Pro MPC Studio in great condition for a demo with a even better price. I had some tech issues and thanks to Adam Robey all was resolved promptly. I can not thank Sweetwater enough for all they do. I few more pieces to the puzzle and I will be ready to make my dreams come true.

Game Changer

By Sweetwater Customer

My MPC Studio 2 was delivered on time and was easy to set up. This device came with the full version of MPC Software 2.10 and several expansion packs. I fell in love with it almost Immediately. The pads are official MPC Pads, the transport controls are phenomenal, and the Software makes beat making fun again. Some goofballs are whining about the small display, but this device is a companion to the software; So I'm not looking at that display other than to get feedback about what's going on with the controller, Other than that I'm looking at my 60 in Monitor.

Worth EVERY penny

By CW. N. from Dallas, TX
Music Background: Producer-Engineer-Artist

If you are on the fence about adding MPC workflow to your production let THIS unit push you over! I have produced for 25+ years and used every other method and DAW except MPC. I honestly didn't see a huge advantage until I bought one. I figured it would be better to buy the studio version because I have other gear and controllers. As far as DRUM PROGRAMING this blows everything else out of the water. You program a lot faster when you adapt to the work flow. Integrates with all major DAWS and Reason 11
I have all the major drum packs and VSTs including NI but some how these beasts sound CRISPER CLEANER and PUNCHY without processing. After I master this unit I'll be purchasing a fancier unit and giving this one to my Son. But this one can hold it's own in any studio set up. Feels great, looks great. I THOUGHT I had quality drum pads on my Keyboard until NOW!

Whoa

By Wesley O. from PA

I accidentally won one of these in a giveaway. Wow! The controller and software are both amazing. I have zero experience with an MPC or the Akai software, and was able to put together some nice beats very quickly after downloading the software. I look forward to diving in deeper.

AKAI MPC Studio

By JM from NY
Music Background: Accomplished classical Musician

This is my first professional MPC. I'm not too versatile on operating the machine but so far I love it. Still watching lots of tutorials and how to integrate with the 2 DAW's I normally used which is Cubase Professional and Logic Pro X.
The pads are well built and extremely responsive. I dod not pay too much attention to the little screen because I can see everything displaying with AKAI integration software in Logic Pro X. I love the MPC Sound Packs and the already Kits and sounds I have to my disposal.

The Little MPC Software Controller That [Definitely] Could

By I M. from NYC
Music Background: Hip Hop

The MPC Studio 2 is a very capable MPC Software controller. The workflow is a little different from the rest of the MPCs that are out now but it is very easy to get used to even if you are used to using any of the other MPCs. It is NOT a hybrid MPC; it is ONLY a controller with a small limited (but still informative) screen. With the MPC 2, your computer's screen is your main display. With all that being said; for what it is and what it is meant to be, the MPC 2 is a great controller. I enjoy using it and I think the touch strip feature is a very good addition. I especially like the small footprint because the space on my small desk is very limited. I use the MPC Studio 2 on my studio desk setup and now I use my MPC Live II as my movable and portable machine. I think the MPC Studio 2 is a good introduction to the world of MPCs and it is also a nice small MPC software controller that even an experienced MPC user can appreciate. I wish the screen was at least a little bigger and I miss having dedicated q-links but these are things that don't really hinder or inconvenience me so it is not a deal breaker at all. I'm satisfied with my purchase and I recommend it.

FYI in case you care: I measured my MPC Studio 2 and it is not 12 inches wide as it is currently listed on most websites including Akai's website. My measurements show that it actually is 13 inches wide. The depth and height measurements that are listed on Akai's website [and most websites] seem to be correct.

Awesome!

By Sweetwater Customer

I just got mine yesterday and couldn't wait to set it up and once I did I was impressed. First of all Akai gives you a ridiculous amount of content (drum kits, samples, instruments, etc.) with the Studio to get the creative juices flowing. The Studio itself is a small powerhouse with all that you can do. It didn't take me long to get the basics down and I plan to dive all the way in exploring this gem!
