Cool little system

By Edward P. from Columbus, OH

Out of the box it set up and worked great. Very easy to use. Plug in your mic and guitar, set the levels and you're up and running. Still have not used the battery yet. It is a bit heavier than I expected but the handle is long enough to move it around with no real difficulty.

Great versatile amp with one major flaw

By Sweetwater Customer

Truly a great little PA speaker/amplifier for the price. I use it for everything - movie screenings, keyboard amp, vocal speaker for small shows. Only problem is that the battery dies after about 1-2 years and the speaker, for some reason, doesn't have an IEC pass-through capability. When the battery dies, the speaker dies until you replace the battery. Luckily it only costs about $ for a replacement but still, kinda absurd. Not sure if there's a similar speaker out there price-wise and quality-wise but I'd be curious to see if anything stacks up.

Awesome for large areas

By Victoria

Bought this for our church summer camps where we typically have about 50-100 teens. Needed this for announcing games and playing music during sports, and it did amazing! The music automatically quiets down when the microphone is in use, so we didn't have to constantly adjust the music. It was loud enough for a whole field of ppl to hear, and it was easy to use and setup.

Outstanding! Bluetooth Speaker!

By Sweetwater Customer

I was seeking a simple bluetooth speaker for work at a noisy bakery to replace the broken-down pocket bluetooth speakers the girls had laying around. So I bought this MPA40BT Behringer. Best purchase I have made in a long time. Very loud and clear, heavy duty construction and controls. It is compact for the sound it produces. Excellent Value! Thank you Sweetwater.

Great Sound, Bad Battery

By Sweetwater Customer

Battery lasted about a year before it had to be replaced. It swells and expands due to a design error. The company will replace the battery once, but after that it is expensive.

Very good for non-audiophile use!

By Sweetwater Customer

Company has a tradition of breaking out in karaoke at the end of retreats, and were tired of the $ light show karaoke machine being finicky and difficult to connect to. Enter Sweetwater and the Behringer MPA40Bt-Pro. It may say it's a portable PA system, but the bluetooth connectivity makes it perfect for our karaoke application, even if we actually used it a bit as a PA system during some sessions.

There's full audio control for each input on the back of the PA, and the bluetooth audio does NOT dip when a mic produces sound. The speaker produces okay audio that's good enough most people will love it. If you're picky about your sound, you'll hear the quality of the speaker, however.

Overall, A very good system for our applications for the cost.

Super Product

This battery-powered speaker is just what the doctor ordered. Small, lightweight, runs for 12 hours per charge (though the longest I ever used it was 3 hours!). Can't think of a negative thing to say. Buy one!

Outdoor performance ready

By Sweetwater Customer

Used this recently in at outdoor show at a park, which performed well in competition with traffic noise and light foot traffic. The sound quality was excellent, and allowing for balancing live vocals with pre-recorded tracks fed directly from an iphone. The audience was approximately 50ft away. The volume was set at 90% at the PA System, and further managed via a standalone volume control for the phone.

Note that if you're using a condenser microphone (i.e., not the one that ships with the unit), you'll also need a phantom inline boost for the mike itself. I used was the Xvive P1 Portable Phantom Power Supply (https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/P1Pwr--xvive-audio-p1-portable-phantom-power-supply).

Great while it lasted

By Sweetwater Customer

Cute little speaker for PE class. However, it died after three years. AC and battery are dead and would probably cost more to fix then what it's worth. Kind of sad, I thought Behringer had turned a corner there for awhile.
I'll be replacing this speaker with a more reliable brand.

Little Speaker, Big Sound

By Tim M. from Greenwood, DE
Music Background: DJ Business Owner

I own a DJ business with a dozen high end speakers I regularly use. Though this little baby is not on par with the big boys I own, it wasn't meant to be. 2 years ago when my daughter needed a portable speaker with great sound that she could get in/out of her car trunk when needed for both practice and warm-ups before game time, I decided to grab her one of these from Sweetwater. I was not disappointed. The sound is bigger than than it should be for a speaker this size, the battery life is excellent even at higher volumes and the portability is just ingenious. Wheels AND a pull up handle. Props to Behringer for thinking of everything in this little package. If you need a battery powered portable speaker that lasts and that punches above it's weight class, you should get off the fence and order one of these. It gets the job done and it does it's job well. I'm two years in and mine has many hours on it. The battery life and speaker are doing just fine.

Bass player marching in the parade

By Tavares N. from Port Saint Lucie, FL

This amp is great for many things. I bought it for the bass guitar player in my school marching band so that he (with the aid of a helper) could march with the band in our local parade. The battery lasted long enough to make it to the end of the parade.

I currently use it i classroom to play music (nluetooth) or the metronome from my phone. It is loud and clean and can serve as a PA in a gym or banquet hall. Ive use it for an outdoor event as a PA and to play music during a ceremony.

It is very versatile and get the job done!

Good while it lasted

By Don from IN
Music Background: Entertainer, campground busker

I see the price has gone up about $ since I bought mine which lasted almost 3 years. It sounded good for back yard bbq's but wasn't very good for battery powered low volume camping pa. I used it with a Behringer battery powered mixer and played my acoustic/electric though it along with a microphone for singing. The microphone that came with it was junk more like a toy karaoke mic, I used it once and gave it away. As for the speaker I couldn't get very loud with it because the woofer struggled when singing and playing at the same time which didn't surprise me much after all it is only 40 watts and just an 8" woofer. It did enhance the volume which made it easier to enjoy the bonfires. The battery quit working completely and then it started shutting off randomly even when plugged in. Now the lights come on but no sound. Cost at least $100 to fix it so it's in a pile of need to fix, sell or throw away stuff that I can't bring myself to get rid of. I would give it another 1/2 star maybe even a whole one if the price was still close to what I paid for mine but at this price I would NOT buy again.

MPs 40 pt

By Sweetwater Customer

Great unit but the battery went to only being good for thirty mins. Within a year and very few uses. I need a contact with Behringer to see what they can do. I need it for funerals for the church but 30 mins is not enough. I use it plugged in for outside services and works fine. Easy to use

Excellent design

By Sweetwater Customer

Behringer created a surprisingly affordable and highly versatile portable mini-PA. It is so much more than just a party speaker. Inputs for Bluetooth, mic, guitar, line-in, or any combination with volume mixing for each. You can plug it in or operate on the rechargeable battery (which has remaining battery level LEDs). Carry it by the handle or roll it. Decent bass and good treble for something in this price range. Great design. I am very happy with this purchase.

Great, portable PA system!

By Sweetwater Customer

I purchased this unit for an outdoor church service. We had a mic (my own shure sm58, not what came with it) and an acoustic guitar. It provided plenty of clear amplification, no feedback issues, and it was so portable and convenient for set-up. The battery still had plenty of juice after 3 hours of use. Love this unit!!!! And Sweetwater!

So good, I bought another one. . .

By BigMeow =. from Earth -West hemisphere
Music Background: Amateur cat turd musician

I play solo acoustic in a lot of situations where no power is available, so this is the perfect setup for that. The mixer on the back lets me plug in my vocal mike and my guitar, and the sound is full, and plenty loud. The main reason I switched to this from a regular PA is portability. After back surgery, my weight lifting was limited, and this has wheels and a retractable handle, and it is not very heavy. After using it a year, I had a big "duh" moment -it has a mounting hole under it for a speaker stand, so I mount it up high on my old stands for even better coverage, and it is not too heavy to lift up on the stand. That also made me realize I could just as easily use TWO of them up on stands, like I did with my old heavy PA. I wish it had a line out port to make this easier - maybe the next gen release could get rid of the dog toy Mr. Microphone included and spend that money on a line out, but I just use two signal splitters and still can run with battery power, or use a mixer in powered situations.

a great choice forreal!!

By William C. from Cottage Grove, MN

I would purchase this over and again but I'm thinking I won't have to unless I want one in every room. you get more than just sound here, so make the investment, don't take a chance on any other company, you won't regret it.

Great speaker, even better customer service.

By James

Highly recommend. Bought this for all day beach parties because my little Bose Soundlink 2 speaker was not cutting it. The mobility of it (because of the wheels and handle) and versatility of input options is basically unbeatable at this price point. Overall tone is great and has excellent high end. I wouldn't expect the fidelity of a $600 speaker, but it is very good overall and I suspect it will be better once it is broken in.

Need to give a special shout out to Patrick Lantz who helped me when I ordered the wrong product. Patrick helped overnight me a new order with the right product immediately and sent me a return label so that when the wrong product arrived I could easily ship it back. 10 star customer service and would definitely order from here again just for that.

Great for impromptu speeches or performances

By Brandon Y.
Music Background: Musician, amateur audio engineer

This little guy is loud, has 2 hybrid XLR/ 1/4" inputs perfect for singer songwriters like myself or public speeches, the ability for wireless microphone connection, Bluetooth and auxiliary input and an extendable handle and wheels to lug it around and annoy the neighbors. Two complaints. The microphone it comes with is essentially a toy like one you would get with a child"s karaoke machine. And the minor complaint is the simple two band eq that operates on both inputs, and no effects like reverb or chorus or whatever. But for the 200 dollars that I paid this unit is phenomenal!

MPA40BT-Pro

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: Electric/acoustic guitar player/song writter

Ok, so the 5 stars is because what I expected and what I got exeeded my expectations..

For the Price, it depends on what you're expecting. let me give some of my experiences..

Pros:
- It sounds great !
- I paired my iPhone with it and played music.. Wow, sounded great. Like seriously, this is awesome.. !
- it is very loud, for 40 Watts
- it has a over all treble and Bass adjustment, sweet !
- It has wheels and retractable handle like luggage
- it has 2 combo channels (1/4 inch/XLR)
- and 1 RCA/bluetooth channel

Cons:
- the microphone that comes with it; just throw it away :)
- you can buy mics from Behringer with a bluetooth dongle that you plug in to a 4th channel: they are just ok, don't expect more than that :) you can use good mics instead (wired or wireless) in one of the 2 combo channels.

So this unit sounds really, really good.. I actually use it with a Line 6 Helix LT, for my monitor. Awesome.. ! was plenty loud even with drummers that don't know how to play anything but full blast :)
I haven't used it with just the battery yet, so I can't comment on that part.. but I didn't buy it to use it that way.
My wife uses one in her Elementary music classroom, and pairs her iPhone to it to play music, but uses a Shure Wireless mics into one of the channels, Works fantastic..

This unit has some really cool features, Sounds really good and does some stuff really good, but if you want it to do everything, you'll be disappointed. but come on...

My recommendation is; if any of the Pros: Scenarios I mentioned is what you want, just buy it...
If the Cons: is what you want, don't :)

Great Little Unit

By Dan from San Diego
Music Background: Amatuer

OK, I have to admit, I have been pleasantly surprised by this unit. I use it with a single mic and backing tracks that I run from an iPod through the stereo RCA jacks. I have used it for a few months and taken it to some gigs including one on the beach. I was surprised at the sound output and never expected to be heard well outside. Battery life is great. I've played for a few hours and never had the battery level drop by even a single bar. The bass is full and the overall sound for singing and backing tracks is musical. It is a bit bright with my mic, but the treble control worked well. This is not a boom box or DJ gear, but as a portable PA system it is a great little unit at an attractive price. Very easy to transport as well.

Great features for the price

By AatmaB from Jamaica,Queens. NYC
Music Background: Indian / West Indian

Great for small crowds (~40 - 50) in places where there is no power source.
I bought the Behringer Ultralink ULM202USB to go with this and they work perfectly.
Bear in mind the wireless automatically assign themselves to the two XLR channels so make sure you label the microphones.
I also plugged in two additional microphones into the two XLR and I had 4 working microphones.
I also plugged in two extra microphones into channel 1 using a Y-splitter and I had three working microphones on channel 1. You just have to make sure that both mics on the splitter is turned on for them all to work. The wireless works independently of what you plug into the XLR channel. So I can actually get 6 mics to run on this system. I haven't had a chance to actually try this configuration at a gig for at least an hour to see if any problems come up...so cross my fingers and wish for the best. LOL.
The only thing is that the volume that you set will be the same for all mics attached.
The only set back is the missing reverb. But I can do without it for what I use this unit for.
Bluetooth is beautiful and this unit has very good bass.
Behringer should really look into hooking up at least one channel with reverb and I'm sure the price will be far less that what the competition is selling for.

A Wonderful Lil’ Companion for the Small Church Singer!

By Jason H. from Lima, OH

I first purchased the MBA200BT, took it home and found the onboard digital mixing system far too complicated for someone with limited sound system knowledge. Debated on purchasing the MBA100BT, which was nice, and easier to use, but was a little heavy and quite simply, I didn"t need 100 watts to do what I do. This MBA40BT IS WONDERFUL! It has simple features, that a layman can understand, and it packs enough power for a medium sized church or group. I can link right up to the system with my phone or tablet, using Bluetooth, and it works great for accompaniment music, and allows you to set that at a different volume. Only 4.5 stats because the included microphone is below standard, and a little bit of reverb or effects would have been great, but were not included. We use 2 Shure SM58s, as it allows 2 mics, has an instrument jack as well, and Bluetooth for your phone or tablet. ...this is well worth it! The collapsible handle and wheels make it so convenient.

good for outdoor gigs and other no outlet scenarios. Loud enough and clean, with tweeter and woofer.
Used with a battery powered yamaha piaggero and now there is no where I can't play. 2 channels plus rca. didn't bother to try the USB fancy stuff. The microphone that is included makes a nice toy, that's all.

Worth it!!!!

By Fred from Gainesville, GA
Music Background: Amateur professional? Drummer, rapper, performer, preacher

I bought one and a week later I bought another. Battery life is excellent. I've run them constantly for 2 hours one night, let them sit, and then 2 more hours and battery will just then be at 50%. I use one speaker for the mic and other for music off my MP3. Both on 75% volume. Sound is great and travels across a packed out Wal Mart parking lot. I tried running mic and music in same speaker and it can't handle both so if that's your plan, buy 2. Microphone is pretty cheap and you have to learn how to speak/sing into it just right or the sound won't be great. If they offered speaker stands with this it would be rated 6 stars. I'd recommend this in a heartbeat. Big, clear sound!!

Swiss Army PA

By Dr. . from MT

Stopped me from buying gear for almost 2 years, cut my gear (using a MicroCube and a pair of ULM mics) down to what a busker could take on the train.

Pros:
2 band eq, battery, wheels, long life, 2 great xenyx pre amps, ULM mics seem to have compression /delay/fbx, light. Can use RCA and Bluetooth simultaneously

Cons:
No line outs, Bluetooth and ULM transmitters fight (use wired mp3/phone connections), signal can brown out under heavy load or low battery

Overall:
Would buy another in a minute for a a pole mounted stereo guitar PA (I ABY a Strat through 2 cubes), also look at Roland 330 and the new MPA-100.

Decent Freq Response for Cello and Violin

By LoveSweetwater's S. from LongIsland

For the price, it is decent for a violin & cello duo setup. We use both acoustic violin & cello
with pickups or electric ones. The unit spec for the dynamic microphone is 50hz - 10khz,
but there is some distortion/clipping when volume for cello is slightly high, turn down volume
for the microphone input (and turn up the main volume at the same time) helps. Bluetooth
pairing always works well without a hitch, so we can play some recording music during the
break, or play backing tracks. There is some low level white noise (most of the time for our unit, but we did not bother to return for replacement since outdoor gigs are noise in general and people might not notice that unless they stand close by). Four quartet, quintet or octet, we pair it with a Eurorack UB1222FX, also bought from Sweetwater, which has many nice effects/setting
for performing in various venues (small to big halls). The thing we do not like is Behringer's warranty service - the original battery won't charge after 2 years of moderate use. Behringer
won't provide the 3-year warranty they promised, but Sweetwater took care of it by sending
us a BAT1 in 2-day Fedex for a pending gig. Unfortunately there is no exact replacement Behringer battery for MPA40BT (BAT1 is somewhat small in capacity). Currently we are using Expertpower exp1250 12v 5ah, and use the BAT1 as backup.

We are classical musicians and hardly know anything about audio equipments a couple of years ago. Sweetwater has been tremendous help -- they take care all of our needs and educate us on what fits our needs/situation best. It has the best customer service we ever experienced across any industries. The sales as well as tech staffs are well trained and knowledgeable on the products they carry, and they are humble/honest and check for you in case they are not sure about some details. The best part is that their price is as competitive as any other online stores (will even lower when you buy all your gears at Sweetwater). If you do not have money/time to waste on trying different products to get what you really need, you should definitely use Sweetwater, since they will save you all the hassles of getting the wrong equipments. We cannot thank Sweetwater enough for all their help through the years.

Sound Sound

By Mick from Raleigh NC

I have used this great battery powered speaker for the last 3 years in a hundred or more settings. It is way more powerful and versatile than you can imagine.

Its always in my car as the house system is sometimes not up to snuff. I just walk on with my MPA4 with a mic plugged in and just start. Pubs, clubs, various stages, the start of races for 300 folk in open air, even a small auditorium with 300 folk, was fine for this speaker. I use it mostly for spoken word speech. I play some intro music or background music via my phone on Bluetooth and it is just amazing. You cannot go wrong with this versatile unit for smaller more intimate performances.

I LOVE THIS!

By Samuel R. from Minnesota

This thing is pretty impressive, have to admit. You never know because you'll read tons of good reviews and then one bad one and it's always the bad ones which give you doubts. After me and the family played around with it, I'm super happy about the purchase, but there are a couple downsides. First the good (and its almost all good), I was concerned about the volume on this since it's only 40w, but it seems plenty loud for being a battery powered speaker. I mean, how the heck is it only 40watts? Honestly sounds as loud as my 150w tower speakers next to TV...Maybe even louder. I bought this for singing at small gigs and for my wife's dancing group which occasionally performs at the beach where there are no outlets.

Two reasons why it doesn't get 5 stars, one is that you can't Daisy chain the speakers together. Honestly Behringer, why???!!!! Two of these bad boys out on the beach and you've got yourself an authentic dance club! One is still great (10x better than any bluetooth speaker I've ever heard), but 2 would be epic.
The other reason is because I would like a little more bass. It seems like there is not much below 80hz, that's about as low as these will go. However, keeping the low end out does save a ton of power, so maybe that is why? Still, my wife who is a dance just LOVES this thing, and to her it has plenty of thump. I believe the Roland has more bass, but for me I can't justify spending 3x more for something I don't NEED, just want.

FYI

By Greg from NY
Music Background: Rock and roller

Hi just received my shipment and they were right on time Awesome for that. The only 2 problems is this 1) The mic that comes with the unit and its cord are not that great and really need a upgrade with this. The other part to that is when reviewing the unit it does not even tell you the brand or any info on the mic. itself so if your buying 2 you cant get the mic because you do not even know what comes with the unit.
The second thing is really simple but when I called them to figure it out she told me everyone calls for this simple little thing but they could note somewhere in the instructions how to fix this simple little problem lol. Ok if you order a stand and you then try to put it on the adapter part to the stand it does not fit the screw seems smaller , but here is the result, look at the inside of the adapter and you see a nice shining piece of screwed in metal and this piece comes right out when you unscrew it lol. It is for Europe and they have a different size over and that's why they need this said shining piece in the adapter. ( just remove it then screw onto top of stand :). The lady who I talked to thought the same thing that they need to just note on instructions what to do so that everyone stops calling her to ask lol. But I figure there is a reason and its that everyonne calls and maybe orders something else and hey there it is right? Thanks Lady for your help :)
As for unit I thought I sounded great but daughter ( who this is for ) said no dad your not so good :)

Amazing value!

By Sweetwater Customer

I used 2 of these for my sales booth playing my original acoustic guitar instrumental music for 8 hours at approximately 77 dB. And preforming live off and on at just a bit more volume. After 8 hour the batteries displayed 75% left on the charge. So I repeated this play time the next day and the battery usage was still at 25% left on the charge after 16 hours of use. Amazing! Thanks to Andy Rice for making sure I had these in my hands to use within less then 24 from when I called and placed the order.

Behringer mpa

By Wesley H. from Michigan

I love this thing. Lightweight with nice clear sound. The handle and wheels are handy, but a little short for me. 6'4" so most things are. The microphone is great for a freebie. I have it taped to my harmonica rack and it picks up the voice and harmonica fine. The system itself can be prone to feedback. However I am able to play with it under my barstool using a mic on the resonator, one on the rack, and one mic under a tambourine directly in front of the speaker. No feedback at full volume unless I expose the instrument mic to the speaker. That's right 3 mics one speaker. I'll buy another but not with the handle.

Behringer Pro PA

By Steve D. from Fort Wayne, IN
Music Background: Musician, vocalist, performer

I bought a battery powered Behringer MPA49T-Pro last year to use on the beach for a wedding and was blown away by the power of this little battery power PA. Because of it's power and ease of use with Bluetooth connections, etc, I decided to purchase a second one to use in place of my larger, heavier, powered speakers to use for regular gigs for large and medium rooms. The only drawback is that they don't pigtail with cable from one speaker to the next so you have connect them through a mixer using the 'Main' outputs. But, These little guys rock!

This Behringer is frick'n Awesome. The set up is easy, the warranty is great and the sound.... wow!!! ordered online from Sweetwater on a Friday, this was delivered on Saturday, fast and free shipping too.

It came charged out of the box, but I did plug it in over night, next day hooked IPAD steaming Amazon Prime to it via bluetooth and ran about 8 hours and still had half battery left. This is exactly what I wanted for out doors and camping!
Highly recommend this product!

This item works as expected. Had a little trouble with feedback and the mic is a little cheap. Used a different mic to get better sound. This item was used a small room of about 70 to 80 people and had no complaints that people couldn't hear. I would recommend this for small room or groups, probably good for story telling.

Good For The Price

I just got my Behringer MPA40BT and I am testing it out. My criticisms are that the mic leaves a bit to be desired as it is made of plastic, and the mid range of the unit is a little lacking. Other than this I am very pleased with the product for the price of $200 that I paid. The Bluetooth works great and has a good range too. I was 30 feet away from the unit with a wall in between and it still worked good! Just remember like all small speakers the sound will distort a bit if you run it too hot. Over all I am very pleased for the price.
